Installation Guide for Neoprene Rubber Seal Strip
1. Prepare Tools & Measure
- Tools needed: Utility knife/scissors, measuring tape, marker
- Measure twice: Determine the length and shape required for your project (e.g., weather stripping, gasket). Cut excess material to avoid waste.
2. Clean Installation Surface
- Remove dust, oil, or debris from the surface where the seal strip will be applied. Use a damp cloth or solvent (if oily) to ensure a smooth, dry base for optimal adhesion (note: strip is adhesive-free—mechanical fixing may be needed).
3. Mark & Cut the Strip
- Mark the measurement on the rubber strip with a marker.
- Use a sharp blade or scissors to cut the strip straight or at angles as needed. For curved surfaces, score the back of the strip lightly to enhance flexibility (avoid cutting through).
4. Apply the Strip
- For Weather Stripping: Press the strip into gaps around windows/doors, ensuring it compresses slightly for a tight seal. Use staples or clips for permanent fixing if necessary.
- For Gaskets: Place the strip between mating surfaces (e.g., engine covers, pipe joints). Ensure even compression to prevent leaks.
- For Floor Protection: Lay the strip along edges or under furniture, cutting to fit corners neatly.
5. Secure & Test
- If needed, use adhesive (recommend rubber-compatible glue) or fasteners (screws, clips) to secure the strip, especially in high-stress areas.
- Test the seal by checking for gaps, water/air leakage, or vibration. Adjust or trim excess material for a perfect fit.
