Vetus Waterheater Connection M2, M3 Installation Manual
Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation of the Vetus Waterheater connection for M2 and M3 models. Follow these steps carefully to ensure proper installation and function.
Installation Steps
-
Step 1: Coolant Check
Check if the engine is filled with coolant. If required, drain the coolant.
-
Step 2: Remove Alternator V-belt
Remove the alternator V-belt. This requires one M8 bolt and a 13 mm wrench. The torque for this bolt is 30 Nm.
-
Step 3: Remove Tensioner Support
Remove the tensioner support. This involves two M6 bolts (15 Nm torque, 10 mm wrench) and one M8 bolt (30 Nm torque, 13 mm wrench).
-
Step 4: Loosen Hose Clamps
Loosen the two hose clamps using a 7 mm wrench.
-
Step 5: Remove Thermostat Housing
Remove the thermostat housing, cover, and pipe. This requires two M6 bolts (15 Nm torque, 10 mm wrench).
-
Step 6: Replace Pipe with Calorifier Connection
Replace the existing pipe with the calorifier connection (part number 08-01188, 13 mm). Use new O-rings (2 x STM1238 O-Ring).
-
Step 7: Remove Gasket Remnants
Remove all gasket remnants from the cylinder head and the thermostat housing.
-
Step 8: Install Thermostat Housing and Calorifier Connection
Install the thermostat housing together with the calorifier connection. Use a new gasket (1 x STM3967 Gasket). Lightly grease both O-rings with Molykote 1110.
-
Step 9: Secure Calorifier Connection
Secure the calorifier connection with the M6 bolt of the circulation pump. Refer to the red arrow in the diagram for placement.
-
Step 10: Re-install Tensioner Support
Re-install the tensioner support using two M6 bolts (15 Nm torque, 10 mm wrench) and one M8 bolt (30 Nm torque, 13 mm wrench).
-
Step 11: Secure Hose Clamps
Secure the hose clamps using a 7 mm wrench.
-
Step 12: Tension V-belt
Tension the V-belt. This involves one M8 bolt (30 Nm torque, 13 mm wrench). Check the belt tension by applying moderate finger and thumb pressure. If the deflection is more than 12 mm with approximately 10 kg of force, the belt should be tensioned further.
-
Step 13: Fill Cooling System and Check for Leaks
Fill the cooling system and check the entire installation for leakages.
