Charge the Battery
It is recommended to fully charge the battery before mounting the camera outdoors.

- Charge the battery with a Reolink solar panel.
For better weatherproof performance, please always cover the USB charging port with the rubber plug after charging the battery.

Note: The solar panel is NOT included in the package. You can purchase one from Reolink's official online stores.
Install the Camera
Wall Mounting:
- Install the camera 2-3 meters (7-10 ft) above the ground. This height maximizes the detection range of the PIR motion sensor.
- For better motion detection performance, please install the camera angularly.
- Note: If a moving object approaches the PIR sensor vertically, the camera may fail to detect motion.
Mounting Height: 2-3 Meters
PIR Detection Distance: 2-10 Meters
Steps for Wall Mounting:
- Drill holes in accordance with a mounting hole template and screw the security mount into the wall. If mounting on a hard surface, insert plastic anchors first.
- Screw the antenna to the camera and then install the camera to the security mount.
- Loosen the adjusting knob on the mount and adjust the camera to the proper direction.
- Tighten the adjustment knob to lock the camera.
Attaching the Camera to a Tree:
- Thread the provided strap through the mounting plate.
- Align the strap with the screw holes and fasten with the smaller screws.
- Attach the plate to the security mount.
- Fasten the security mount to a tree.
- Install the camera and adjust the camera angles as instructed in step 3 of the previous installation guide.
Notes on PIR Motion Sensor
The PIR detection range can be customized to meet your specific needs. Refer to the table below for settings in Device Settings via the Reolink App.
Sensitivity | Value | Detection Distance (For moving and living objects) |
---|---|---|
Low | 0-50 | Up to 5 meters (16ft) |
Mid | 51-80 | Up to 8 meters (26ft) |
High | 81-100 | Up to 10 meters (33ft) |
Note: Higher sensitivity offers a longer detection distance but may lead to more false alarms. It is recommended to set the sensitivity level to “Low” or “Mid” when installing the camera outdoors.
Important Notes on Reducing False Alarms:
- Do not face the camera towards bright lights, including sunshine or bright lamps.
- Do not place the camera too close to areas with heavy traffic. Recommended distance from vehicles is 16 meters (52ft).
- Do not place the camera near outlets like air conditioner vents, humidifier outlets, or projector heat transfer vents.
- Do not install the camera in areas with strong wind.
- Do not face the camera towards a mirror.
- Keep the camera at least 1 meter away from wireless devices (e.g., WiFi routers, phones) to avoid interference.
Important Notes on Rechargeable Battery Usage
The Reolink Argus Eco is designed for recording motion events and remote live streaming when needed, not for 24/7 continuous operation. For tips on extending battery life, visit: https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006991893
- Charge the battery with a standard DC 5V/9V charger or Reolink solar panel. Do not use solar panels from other brands.
- Charge the battery between 0°C and 45°C (32°F to 113°F). Use the battery between -20°C and 60°C (-4°F to 140°F).
- Keep the USB charging port dry, clean, and free of debris. Cover the port with the rubber plug after charging.
- Do not charge, use, or store the battery near ignition sources (fire, heaters).
- Do not disassemble, cut, puncture, short-circuit the battery, or dispose of it in water, fire, microwaves, or pressure vessels.
- If the battery emits odor, generates heat, discolors, deforms, or appears abnormal, remove it from the device or charger immediately and stop using it.
- Dispose of used batteries according to local waste and recycling laws.
