IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: Always follow basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury when using electric appliances.

  • Read and follow all instructions before use.
  • To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not expose to rain; store indoors.
  • Do not leave the appliance connected to a power source. Unplug when not in use and before servicing.
  • Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy. Supervise children closely when the appliance is used by or near them.
  • Use the appliance only as described in the manual and with DEWALT recommended attachments.
  • Do not use with a damaged cord or plug. If the appliance malfunctions, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped in water, return it to a service center.
  • Do not pull or carry by the cord, use the cord as a handle, close a door on the cord, or run the appliance over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
  • To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
  • Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.
  • Do not insert objects into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything else that may reduce airflow.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and body parts away from openings and moving parts.
  • Turn off all controls before unplugging.
  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
  • Do not pick up flammable or combustible liquids (e.g., gasoline) or use in areas where they are present.
  • Static shocks may occur in dry areas or low humidity. To reduce frequency, add moisture to the air or use an anti-static hose.

Wear approved safety equipment, such as dust masks, to reduce exposure.

Operating Instructions

Unpacking & Set-Up Summary

  1. Pull lid latches outward, remove the power head and any accessories.
  2. Attach rubberized casters as per manual instructions.
  3. Ensure proper filters are installed before replacing the power head.
  4. Replace power head, ensuring all lid latches snap securely.
  5. Insert the air hose end into the tank inlet.
  6. Attach extension wands to the hose end; apply slight pressure until tight.
  7. Attach cleaning accessories to the extension wands; twist to tighten.
  8. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet. The cleaner is ready for use.

Caster Assembly

  1. Invert the dust tank. Align casters with the tank bottom and secure with screws.
  2. Return the dust tank assembly upright.

Accessory Bag Holder Bracket Assembly

Attach 2 accessory bag holder brackets to the tank using 4 self-tapping screws.

Accessory Bag Holder Assembly

Place the accessory bag holder into the bracket hole.

Dry Pick-Up

Ensure the filter is correctly positioned to prevent leaks and damage. The filter must fully cover the filter cage with no gaps. For fine dust, empty the tank and clean/replace the filter more frequently.

NOTE: A dry filter is required for dry pickup. A wet filter will clog quickly. Replace if it becomes wet.

Installing the Cartridge Filter

The cartridge filter can be used for wet or dry pickup.

  1. With the power head upside down, slide the cartridge filter over the lid cage until it seals against the power head.
  2. Turn the filter retainer knob clockwise to lock the filter.
  3. To remove, turn the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks and the arrow aligns with "Unlock". Slide the filter off the cage.
  4. Clean the filter by shaking, brushing off dirt, or rinsing with water. Dry completely (approx. 24 hours) before re-installing.

NOTE: If the filter was used for wet pickup, it must be cleaned and dried before dry pickup.

Installing the Disposable Filter Bag

  1. Slide the cardboard collar opening onto the vacuum port deflector until it stops.
  2. Position the bag to distribute evenly inside the tank.
  3. Replace and secure the power head onto the tank.

Wet Pick-Up

The cartridge filter must be used for wet pickup. The filter may saturate and misting may occur. Dry or replace the filter if this happens. After wet pickup, raise the hose to drain excess liquid into the tank before shutting off. Periodically clean the tank interior.

  1. Disconnect the power cord. Place the power head upside down. Remove the cartridge filter.
  2. Shake excess dust off the filter. NOTE: Wet pickup accessories should be washed periodically with warm, soapy water.
  3. The vacuum has a float mechanism that automatically cuts off airflow when the liquid reaches a predetermined level. When this occurs, turn off the vacuum, unplug it, and empty the tank. You will know the float has activated when suction stops and motor noise increases.

IMPORTANT: Do not run the motor with the float in the raised position to prevent damage.

Diagram Description: An illustration shows the float in the raised position. If the vacuum is accidentally tipped, place it upright, turn off the switch to allow the float to return to its normal position.

Empty the Tank

WARNING: Unplug the power cord before emptying the tank to prevent accidental starting.

  1. Remove the power head assembly by pulling outward on the lid clips.
  2. Empty the tank contents into a proper waste disposal container.
  3. Liquids can also be emptied through the tank drain. Turn off the unit, unplug it, remove the drain cap, and deposit liquid waste in a suitable drain. Replace the drain cap after emptying.

Blowing Operation

WARNING: Always wear safety goggles (ANSI Z87.1 or CSA Z94.3) when using as a blower.

WARNING: Keep bystanders clear of blowing debris.

CAUTION: Wear a dust mask if blowing creates dust.

CAUTION: Wear ear protectors for extended use in noisy areas.

The vacuum can be used as a blower to remove sawdust and debris from garages, patios, and driveways.

  1. Locate the blowing port on the vacuum.
  2. Insert one end of the 1-7/8 in. x 7 ft. hose into the blowing port.
  3. Turn the vacuum "ON".

Care and Maintenance

Filter Replacement

WARNING: Unplug the power cord before changing or cleaning the filter.

Clean the filter often to maintain peak performance.

IMPORTANT: Always reinstall the Clean Connect™ filter before using the vacuum for dry or wet pickups to avoid damage to the motor and blower wheel.

IMPORTANT: Check the filter for tears or holes after cleaning. Do not use a damaged filter, as it can release dust.

NOTE: Before installing the filter, clean the lid area to ensure a proper seal. If the filter is clean and undamaged, replace it. If not reusable, use a new filter.

NOTE: Clean filters in an open, outdoor area.

WARNING: Do not remove the filter cage or float. The float prevents water from entering the motor, and the cage protects fingers from the moving impeller.

Cleaning

Clean the exterior with a cloth dampened with warm water and mild soap.

To clean the tank:

  1. Dump out debris.
  2. Wash the tank thoroughly with warm water and mild soap.
  3. Wipe dry with a cloth.

Storage

Before storing, empty and clean the dust tank. Wrap and hang the cord on the unit. Store accessories in the accessory holder. Store the vacuum indoors.
