MiCOM C264 Mechanical Mounting
This section provides detailed instructions for the mechanical mounting of the MiCOM C264 device, covering both rack and panel installation methods.
8.3 Mechanical mounting
For detailed specifications regarding the size of the MiCOM C264 rack and its fixation diameters and positions, refer to the "Hardware" section on page 383.
When using an electric screwdriver, it is important to set the torque limitation to suit the small diameters of the screws.
The MiCOM C264 unit can be mounted in standard racks or directly onto a panel.
8.3.1 Rack mounting
The MiCOM C264 can be mounted in racks using single tier rack frames. The part number for these frames is FX0021 001.
A MiCOM C264 device is shown securely fitted within a metal rack frame. The device is a rectangular unit featuring a prominent green display screen, multiple control buttons, and indicator lights. The rack frame is a robust metal structure designed for stable installation.
These rack frames are designed to comply with dimensions specified by IEC 60297 and are supplied pre-assembled for immediate use.
The two horizontal rails of the rack frame feature holes drilled at approximately 26mm intervals. The MiCOM C264 cases are attached via their mounting flanges using M4 Taptite self-tapping screws. These screws are used in conjunction with captive 3 mm thick washers to ensure a good earth contact. The part number for these fixings is ZB5865250.
It is possible to install two MiCOM C264 40TE units side-by-side on an assembly panel, or one MiCOM C264 80TE unit.
Ensure that the MiCOM C264 units are properly earthed by connecting to the screw terminal provided on the rear of the unit.
8.3.2 Panel mounting
The MiCOM C264 can be flush mounted into panels. This is achieved using M4 Taptite self-tapping screws with captive 3 mm thick washers, which also ensure a good earth contact. The part number for these fixings is ZB5865250.
Alternatively, if the panel has a minimum thickness of 2.5 mm, pre-tapped holes can be utilized for mounting.
When mounting multiple MiCOM C264 units within a single panel cut-out, it is advisable to group them mechanically, either horizontally or vertically, to form rigid assemblies prior to installation into the panel.
NOTE: It is not recommended to fasten the MiCOM C264 units using pop rivets, as this method will prevent the device from being easily removed from the panel for future repairs.
