Product Introduction
The S118 is an ultra-compact subwoofer enclosure designed for extended LF capabilities, featuring one ND18-S 18" LF driver.
It supports flying or stacking with the S7 without additional rigging hardware. The S118 can be flown in arrays of up to 16 units using the Ultra-Compact Support Frame.
Utilizing proprietary technologies like Advanced Cone Architecture, the S118 achieves a maximum SPL of 133 dB.
Key Specifications:
- Nominal Impedance: 8 Ω
- Operational Frequency Range: 35 Hz to 100 Hz, +/- 3 dB
- Recommended Crossover: 80 Hz (when paired with other S-Series products)
- Enclosure: Marine grade birch plywood with integrated aluminum and steel rigging system and a top pole mount.
- Weight: 31 kg / 68.4 lbs
- Designed for use with Lab.gruppen's PLM+ Series amplifiers.
Wiring
The S118 (992-0009) is equipped with five Neutrik Speakon™ NL4 connections.
Two rear 'Parallel' NL4 connections pass pin 1 +/- to the driver. Two front NL4 connections pass pin 2 +/- to the driver.
A single rear 'Output' connection is also present. The rear NL4 Parallel connection's pins 2 +/- are passed through to the NL4 Output connection's pins 1 +/-.
Connection Details:
- Front: 2x NL4 (Pin 2 +/- to driver)
- Rear Parallel Input: 2x NL4 (Pin 1 +/- to driver)
- Rear Output: 1x NL4 (Passes through rear parallel input pins 2 +/- to output pins 1 +/-)

Amplification
The S118 is designed to be paired with Lab Gruppen PLM+ Series amplifiers. The following diagrams illustrate maximum quantities per amplifier model:
PLM 12k44 Configuration:
4x S118 per circuit; 12x S118 per amplifier.
Diagram shows 3x PLM 12k44 amplifiers, each powering 4x S118 units per circuit.
PLM 20k44 Configuration:
4x S118 per circuit; 16x S118 per amplifier.
Diagram shows 2x PLM 20k44 amplifiers, each powering 4x S118 units per circuit.
Refer to the Adamson Amplification Chart on the Adamson website for a comprehensive list.
Presets
The Adamson Load Library provides presets for various S118 applications. When flown or stacked with an S7 in the same array, S118 presets include necessary delay for phase alignment.
For separate flown or ground-stacked configurations, phase alignment should be performed using measurement software.
Conventional Crossover (CC) versions of S118 presets are available, with a 5 ms delay reduction.
Preset Configurations:
- S118 (Omni pattern): All S118 units facing forward.
- S118 FB (Cardioid pattern): Bottom S118 forward facing, top S118 reversed.
- S118 FBF (Cardioid pattern): Bottom and top S118 forward facing, middle S118 reversed.
- S118 EF40 (Cardioid pattern): End Fire configuration with 40" / 100 cm distance between front units.
Diagrams illustrate different subwoofer configurations: S118 (all forward), S118 FB (bottom forward, top reversed), S118 FBF (two forward, one reversed), and S118 EF40 (end-fire arrangement).
Refer to the Adamson PLM & Lake Handbook for a master list of presets.
