Thank you for choosing Boss Audio Systems. This manual provides detailed information on the installation, operation, and features of the BOSS BCPA10 Digital Media AM/FM Receiver. This unit features a 10.1" (257 mm) capacitive touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Front Detail
The front of the unit features the following controls:
- 1. Menu Button: Touch to return to the home menu or the previously selected source.
- 2. Voice Assistant: Touch to command.
- 3. Power/Volume Knob: Press and hold to turn the unit on or off. Press to mute or restore volume. Rotate to increase or decrease volume.
- 4. MODE Button: Touch to select a system mode.
- 5. BAND Button: Touch to select FM or AM tuner.
- 6. Reset Pinhole: Press with a pin to restore factory settings.

Unit Installation
The unit is designed for anti-theft with a sliding metal housing. Ensure power, speakers, and antenna are connected according to requirements before installing the sliding metal housing.
Installation Steps:
- Anti-Jamming: Fix the metal strap on the metal connected to the bottom bracket of the car.
- Chassis Removal: To draw the chassis out of the sliding metal housing, insert the left and right key plates into the sides of the chassis.
- Housing Fixation: Select the proper tab for fixing the sliding metal housing.
Display Screen Removal:
- Hold down the two release buttons.
- Gently pull the display panel forward.
Operation Instructions
Screen Adjustment
The display screen can be adjusted:
- Forward/Backward: Freely adjusted 25 degrees.
- Right/Left: Freely adjusted 15 degrees.
- Up/Down: Position can be freely adjusted.
Using and Caring for the Touchscreen
This head unit uses a capacitive touchscreen, similar to high-end mobile devices. Handle with care:
- Ensure fingers are dry; wet or sweaty fingers may affect functionality.
- Do not allow sharp objects to contact the screen.
- Cleaning: Use a dry microfiber cloth. Do not use ammonia, window cleaner, or abrasive chemicals.
Product Setup
Date & Time Setup
- CarPlay Method: Connect an Apple device via a Lightning cable to automatically set the time and date. Time Zone must be set manually (default is Pacific Time).
- Manual Setup: Navigate to General > Date & Time.
Additional Setup Options:
- General: Language, Time Zone, Date & Time, Daylight Saving Time.
- Audio: EQ, Other Audio Settings.
- Display: Illumination, Brightness.
Apple CarPlay
Using CarPlay
Apple CarPlay usage is limited while driving. Functions and usability depend on the App provider.
- Connection: Connect a compatible Apple device via a Lightning cable to the designated USB port.
- Activation: The CarPlay interface will illuminate green on the display; touch it to enter the menu.
- Returning to Home: Touch the BOSS AUDIO SYSTEMS logo.
Note: Bluetooth will automatically turn OFF when CarPlay is in use. Hands-free calling functions through CarPlay. Other Bluetooth devices will be disconnected.
Gestures & Control
Basic controls include Touch, Swipe, and Dragging. Specific gestures may vary by app.
Note: Volume control is handled exclusively by the product.
CarPlay Display Setup
On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > General > CarPlay. Touch and hold App icons to rearrange them. To remove an app, touch its icon.
Note: Only apps with a specific icon can be removed or added.
How to Disable Apps
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Notifications > App to Disable to manage app notifications and their appearance in CarPlay.
Android Auto
Using Android Auto
Android Auto usage is limited while driving. Functions and usability depend on the App provider.
- Connection: Connect a compatible Android device via a USB cable.
- Activation: The Android device will load the Android Auto function. Bluetooth will connect automatically upon setup completion.
- App Requirement: For Android 9.0 or earlier, install the Android Auto app from Google Play. For Android 10.0+, plug in the phone and follow prompts for permissions.
Note: The Parking Brake status wire must be connected for proper setup.
Android Auto Permissions
Permissions can be allowed or denied to customize usability. These can be modified in the Android device's settings.
Minimum Requirements: Android 5.0 or newer.
Updating Related Apps: Maps, Music, and Google apps will update automatically during the initial setup.
Bluetooth®
Setup & Connection
Hands-Free Menu:
- Ensure CarPlay or Android Auto are not active.
- Pairing: Search for "BOSS AUDIO BCPA10" on your mobile device. Follow iOS (Settings > Bluetooth) or Android (Settings > Connections > Bluetooth) instructions. A passcode will be generated for secure pairing.
- The unit will automatically connect when powered on if the device is within range.
Note: Once paired, the device list shows available Bluetooth profiles.
Phonebook and History
- Download Phonebook: Touch Contact > Download.
- Download History: Touch History > Download.
Device Status
Battery and Cellular Strength are displayed on the Home menu. GATT Profile support is required on the mobile device.
Calling
- Making Calls: Dial from the dial pad or select from Contacts/History.
- Ending/Muting Calls: Use the designated touch controls.
- Private Mode: Touch the icon to switch calls to the mobile device or return to hands-free mode.
- Searching Contacts: Enter contact name after touching the search icon.
Audio Streaming
To play media via Bluetooth, the mobile device must be paired and connected.
- Touch "Streaming" to play music.
- Track Control: Use Play/Pause ▶️ / ⏸️, Skip Forward/Backward `[skip-forward]` / `[skip-backward]`, or swipe gestures.
Note: For best performance, set mobile device volume to maximum. All volume adjustments should be controlled from the unit. The unit recalls the last volume setting.
Formats: Playback supports any format playable by the mobile device. Video cannot be viewed on the unit.
Switching Media
Touch the media icon to switch between available sources (Bluetooth and USB).
Note: USB source is only displayed if a USB drive is inserted.
Display
Track, Album, and Artist information will be displayed. Album art is not supported via Bluetooth.
Media
USB Playback
Connect a USB drive for music playback. Music files play automatically.

Note: If other file types are present on the USB, music files will play first.
Navigating Menu: Swipe to browse contents. Touch "Playing" to return to the current file.
WARNING: Watching videos or photos while driving is against Federal, State, and Local laws. Do not use features if unsafe or illegal.
Note: Video and photos can only be viewed when the vehicle is stationary and the parking brake is applied.
Radio
AM/FM Controls
Tuning: Search for stations manually or use Auto Search & Store. Touch and hold for seek tuning.
Manual Seek: Touch the seek icons.
Auto Search & Store: Touch the search icon to automatically find and store stations.
Note: RDS/RBDS info and tuned station display on the radio icon. Not all stations provide RDS/RBDS info.
Band & Settings
- Touch "FM" to switch bands.
- Touch the gear icon ⚙️ to change radio settings.
Favorites and Presets
- Browsing Favorites: Touch the star icon ⭐.
- Changing Presets: Touch the preset numbers.
- List Stored Stations: Touch the list icon.
- Stereo/Mono: Touch the icon to toggle stereo/mono reception.
- LOC/DX: Touch the icon to select Local or Distant broadcasting stations.
AV In/Camera
External Source Playback
Media must be controlled from the external device. Track functions are not controlled by the product.
Note: Set carry-in device volume between 50%-75% for proper volume adjustment.
Rear View
The rear view camera can be displayed on demand by touching the camera icon ?.
Reverse View: When the vehicle is in reverse, the camera image displays automatically. Always check surroundings before proceeding.
Rear View Delay: Adjust sensitivity to trigger to reverse gear selector. Default setting is 0 Sec Delay.
Note: The rear view camera functions normally in standby mode.
WARNING: Never rely solely on the rear view camera; always check surroundings.
Images may appear reversed. Do not use features if unsafe or illegal.
General Settings
- System Language: Touch to change (English default, Spanish available).
- Note: CarPlay is independent of system language.
- Time Zone: Adjust to display correct time. Default: (GMT-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada).
- Date & Time: Set manually or automatically via CarPlay.
- 24H Mode: Toggle ON/OFF.
- Auto Adjust Daylight Saving: Toggle ON/OFF.
- System Tone: Toggle ON/OFF.
- Power Off Delay: Set delay (1, 2, or 3 sec) for accessory power interruption during crank. Default: OFF.
- Note: Power Off Delay ON also delays when the vehicle is turned OFF.
- Factory Settings: Touch to restore all settings to default. All settings and presets will be lost.
Audio Settings
EQ (Equalizer)
Access the EQ menu to adjust settings. EQ can also be accessed while changing volume.
- Preset EQ: Jazz, HipHop, Pop, Rock, R&B.
- EQ Bands: 10 adjustable bands (32Hz, 63Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1KHz, 2KHz, 4KHz, 8KHz, 16KHz).
- EQ Boost/Cut: ± 6 dB.
Balance/Fader
Adjust Left/Right Balance and Front/Rear Fader using swipe gestures.
Subwoofer
Adjust Subwoofer Pre-amp output level (1-14 dB) and filter (50Hz, 80Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz).
Loudness
Enhances low and high frequencies. Toggle ON/OFF.
Internal Amp
Turn OFF the internal amp when using pre-amp outputs to reduce noise. Toggle ON/OFF.
Volume
Default volumes for various sources (Radio, Media, Hands-free, CarPlay/Android Auto) can be set.
Source Level
Gain control for different source modes (Radio, USB, BT Audio, AV Input, CarPlay, Android Auto).
Display Settings
- Illumination Control: Customize illumination when vehicle lights are on. Toggle ON/OFF.
- LED Animation: Cycles through colors on LED touch buttons. Default: ON.
- Gamma: Adjust for day and night settings.
- Screen Brightness: Adjust brightness using swipe gestures.
- LED Touch Buttons: Choose from six preset colors or customize.
- UI Settings: Change wallpaper by inserting photos via USB. Adjust background brightness.
Bluetooth® Settings
- Device Name: BOSS AUDIO BCPA10.
- Rear Camera Input: Turn ON if a rear camera is connected, OFF otherwise.
- Front Camera Input: Turn ON if a front camera is connected, OFF otherwise.
- Parking Assist Guide: Turn ON/OFF based on whether your camera has parking assist. Adjust guide settings.
- Auto Connect: Automatically connects to devices when powered ON. Default: ON.
- Auto Answer: Automatically answers incoming calls. Default: OFF.
Note: Bluetooth turns OFF automatically during CarPlay use. Other connected Bluetooth devices are disconnected.
Camera Settings
- Rear View Delay: Adjust delay for camera trigger (0 Sec to 2 Sec). Sensitivity adjusts to reverse gear selector.
- Region: Set US or European tuner spacing. Default: USA 2.
- RDS/RBDS: Enable to display radio station information. Default: ON.
- AF (Alternative Frequency): Automatically finds the strongest signal for the same program. Default: OFF.
- TA (Traffic Announcement): Automatically tunes into traffic broadcasts while listening to FM. Default: OFF.
Connections
Power/SWC
CAUTION: Professional installation is recommended. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before installation to prevent damage or injury.
- Wire Functions:
- Red/White: Rear Camera Power (+12V, 500 mA)
- Red/Violet: Front Camera Power (+12V, 500 mA)
- SWC Input
- Orange: Illumination Input (+12V)
- Red: Accessory (+12V)
- Black: Ground (-)
- Yellow: Constant (+12V)
- Violet/White: Reverse Signal Input (+12V)
- Blue: Antenna Output (+12V, 500 mA Max)
- Blue/White: Remote Output (+12V, 500 mA)
- Note: Unused wires must be insulated. Never use wire nuts. A separate interface may be needed for vehicle application. Replace fuses with the same type and value (15 A).
Speakers
CAUTION: Do not chassis ground speaker wires. Use only 4-8 Ω speakers. Do not bridge channels; wire in stereo mode only.
- Wire Connections:
- Rear Right (Ch. 4): Purple (+), Purple/Black (-)
- Front Right (Ch. 2): Gray (+), Gray/Black (-)
- Rear Left (Ch. 3): Green (+), Green/Black (-)
- Front Left (Ch. 1): White (+), White/Black (-)
- Note: Observe speaker polarity. If speaker outputs are unused, turn OFF the internal amp to reduce noise.
Audio Pre-amp/AV IN/ Radio
Subwoofer Pre-amp is a non-fading mono output. Run signal wires away from power cables to reduce noise.
Note: If using pre-amp outputs exclusively, turn OFF the internal amp.
Camera/USB/MIC
WARNING: Never rely solely on the rear view camera; always check surroundings. Images may appear reversed. Do not use features if unsafe or illegal.

Parking Brake
WARNING: Improper connection or use of the parking brake wire (defeating safety feature) violates laws and may lead to injury or death. Watching videos/photos while driving is illegal.
Note: Parking brake wire MUST be connected for Android Auto setup. Video/photos require the vehicle to be stationary and the parking brake applied.
Lt. Green: Parking Brake Input.
Note: Connect parking brake input to the power side of the parking brake. Consult a professional installer for vehicle-specific connections.
Hands-free Mic
Placement
Recommended locations are indicated by red shaded areas. Consider vehicle layout and interior materials.
Items to check before placement:
- Do not place in front of air vents.
- Avoid placing near tweeters on sail panels or in the steering column area.
- Ensure the front of the mic is not blocked.
- Mic must be firmly attached.
- Do not cover grille openings.
- Avoid sunroof openings to prevent wind noise.
WARNING: Run microphone wire where it will NOT impede safety items like airbags.
