Pioneer DMH-A5450BT Quick Start Guide

This guide provides essential information for setting up and operating your Pioneer DMH-A5450BT RDS AV Receiver.

Getting Started

The device operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

WARNING

Slots and ventilation openings are provided in the cabinet to ensure reliable product operation and to protect it from overheating. To prevent fire hazards, never block or cover the openings with items such as paper, carpets, and clothes.

CAUTION

This product is evaluated under moderate and tropical climate conditions in audio, video, and similar electronic apparatus - Safety requirements, IEC 60065.

Safe Driving Guarantee

WARNING

The GREEN wire of the power connector is designed to detect the parked status of the vehicle and must be connected to the parking brake switch power source. Incorrect connection or use of this wire may violate applicable law and cause serious injury or damage.

If you attempt to view a video image while driving, the following warning will appear on the screen: “Viewing video from the front seat while driving is strictly prohibited.” To view a video image on this screen, stop the vehicle in a safe place and engage the parking brake. Keep the brake pedal pressed while releasing the parking brake.

Screen Functions

Setting the Clock

Navigate to the clock settings to adjust the date and time.

Steps:

  1. Tap to switch to the clock adjustment screen.
  2. Adjust the clock settings.

Selecting the Source

Choose your preferred audio or video source:

Tap to select a source.

Tuner Operation

Radio Functions:

  1. Store strongest broadcast frequencies.
  2. Select a band.
  3. Tune to the next station.
  4. Recall a preset channel stored on a memory key.
  5. Store the current broadcast frequency on a key.
  6. Displays a preset channel for 10 seconds and automatically switches to the next channel.
  7. Tune only to radio stations with sufficiently strong signals.
  8. Initiate seek tuning.

Video Playback Operation

USB Video Playback:

  1. Pause and play.
  2. Select the previous or next file.
  3. Fast forward or rewind. Tap again to change playback speed.

Audio Operation

USB Audio Playback:

  1. Pause and play.
  2. Select the previous or next file.
  3. Fast forward or rewind. Tap again to change playback speed.
  4. Set audio playback functions.

List Operation

List Operations:

  1. Display the playlist.
  2. Select media file types.
  3. Select a list title or folder to play.
  4. Scroll through the list.

Wi-Fi Connection

  1. Activate the Wi-Fi function on your device.
  2. Tap [Wi-Fi Settings].
  3. Set [Wi-Fi] to ON.
  4. Check the password in the [Password] menu.
  5. [Device Information].
  6. Check the [Network Name] and select the network name on your mobile device.
  7. Enter the password displayed in [Password] on your mobile device.

Bluetooth Connection

  1. Tap [Bluetooth] > [Search].
  2. Select the Bluetooth device name.

Bluetooth Phone Operation

  1. Enter the phone number directly.
  2. Switch to the phonebook mode.
  3. Switch to the call history list.
  4. Make an outgoing call.

Installation

Precautions Before Installation

CAUTION

For proper installation, be sure to use the supplied parts as specified. If any parts are not supplied with this product, use compatible parts as specified after confirming compatibility with your dealer. Using different and incompatible parts may damage the internal parts of this product or may become loose and detach the product.

Do not install this navigation system where it may (i) obstruct the driver's view, (ii) impair the performance of any of the vehicle's safety-related operating systems, including airbags, hazard warning lights, etc., or (iii) impair the driver's ability to operate the vehicle safely.

Never install this product in front of or near the dashboard, door, or pillar from which any of the vehicle's airbags would deploy. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for front airbag deployment areas.

Before Installation

Installation Notes

Do not install this product in locations subject to high temperatures or humidity, such as:

Install this product horizontally on a surface with a tolerance of 0 to 60 degrees.

Installing Using the Screw Holes on the Side of the Product

  1. Attach this product to the factory radio mounting bracket. Position this product so that its screw holes align with the bracket's screw holes and tighten the screws at the three points on each side.

DICA

The protrusion level of the dashboard/console of this unit can be adjusted by changing the position of this unit's screw hole to the radio mounting bracket.

  2. If the tab interferes with installation, you can bend it down and out of the way.
  3. Dashboard or console
  4. Pan head screw. Be sure to use the screws supplied with this product.

Microphone Installation

Install the microphone where its direction and distance from the driver facilitate voice capture. Turn off (ACC OFF) the product before connecting the microphone. Depending on the vehicle model, the microphone cable length may be too short for mounting the microphone on the sun visor. In such cases, install the microphone on the steering column.

Mounting on the Sun Visor

  1. Fit the microphone cable into the slot.
  2. Attach the microphone clip to the sun visor.

Install the microphone on the sun visor when it is in the raised position. It cannot recognize the driver's voice when the sun visor is in the lowered position.

Installation on the Steering Column

  1. Disconnect the microphone base from its clip by sliding the base while pressing the tab.
  2. Mount the microphone on the steering column.

Install the microphone on the steering column, keeping it away from the steering wheel.

Adjusting the Microphone Angle

The microphone angle can be adjusted.

Power Cable

Power Cable Connections:

  1. To power source
  2. Power cable
  3. Yellow: To the power supply terminal, regardless of ignition switch position.
  4. Red: To the ignition-switch-controlled electrical terminal (12 V DC) for ON/OFF.
  5. Orange/White: To the illumination switch terminal.
  6. Black (ground): To the vehicle body (metal).
  7. Violet/White: Of the two cables connected to the rear lamp, connect the one whose voltage changes when the shift lever is moved to REVERSE (R). This connection allows the unit to detect whether the car is moving forward or backward.
  8. Blue/White: Connect to the system power amplifier's remote control terminal (max. 300 mA 12 V DC).
  9. Light Green: Used to detect the parking brake's ON/OFF status. This cable must be connected to the power source side of the parking brake switch.

NOTE

With a two-speaker system, do not connect anything to the speaker cables that are not connected to speakers.

Power Amplifier (Sold Separately)

Important

Speaker cables are not used when this connection is in use.

External Video Component and Display

Rear View Camera and Display

When using the rear view camera, the rear view changes automatically from video when the shift lever is moved to REVERSE (R). The Camera View mode also allows you to check what is behind you while driving.

WARNING

USE THIS INPUT ONLY FOR REVERSE OR REAR VIEW CAMERA MIRROR IMAGE. OTHER USES MAY RESULT IN INJURY OR DAMAGE.

CAUTION

External Video Component and Display

NOTE

Appropriate setup is necessary to use the external video component. For details, consult the Operation Manual.

WARNING

NEVER install the rear display in a location that allows the driver to watch the video source while driving. The rear video output of this product is intended for connecting a display to allow rear-seat passengers to watch the video.

CAUTION

Be sure to use an AV cable with a mini-jack (sold separately) for wiring. If you use other cables, the wiring position may differ, resulting in distorted images and sound.

NOTES

The length of the USB Type A - micro USB B cable cannot exceed 2 m, and the USB Type A - USB C cable cannot exceed 4 m, according to the USB cable standard. When using a cable that does not meet these conditions, the main unit may not function correctly.

Camera

About the Rear View Camera

When you use the rear view camera, the rear view automatically changes from video when the shift lever is moved to REVERSE (R). The Camera View mode also allows you to check what is behind you while driving.
