*The default cooking time refers to the default cooking time displayed on the screen when the corresponding function is selected. The appliance cannot adjust the cooking time manually. The actual cooking time may vary depending on the amount of ingredients used, amount of water used, the temperature of the water, and the cooking environment.

**The cooking time for the Fast cook function may vary depending on factors such as the amount of rice used, the quantity of water used, the temperature of the water, and the cooking environment. As a result, the cooking time will be adjusted, either increased or decreased.

Using Your Rice Cooker

Before First Use

  • Take out all the accessories from the inner pot. Remove the packaging material of the inner pot.
  • Before first use, boil water and clean the Rice cooker.
  • Clean the parts of the Rice cooker thoroughly before using it for the first time (see chapter "Cleaning and Maintenance").

Notes:

  • Make sure all parts are completely dry before you start using the Rice cooker.
  • Make sure the outside of the inner pot is dry and clean, and that there is no foreign residue on the heating element.

Preparations Before Cooking

Warning: Make sure the detachable inner lid and the steam valve are correctly installed.

Notes:

  • Make sure that the amount of food or liquid you add to the inner pot is within the range of the water level indication.
  • For rice cooking, follow the water level indications on the inside of the inner pot. You can adjust the water level for different types of rice and your own preference. Do not exceed the quantities indicated on the inside of the inner pot.
  • After the cooking process starts, you can tap Start/Cancel to cancel the cooking; the rice cooker will go to standby mode.

Perform the following preparations before cooking with the rice cooker:

  • Press the lid release button (H) to open the rice cooker.
  • Take out the inner pot (C).
  • Put the washed food into the inner pot (C), and wipe off water outside of the inner pot with a soft clean cloth, then put it back into the appliance.
  • Close the lid.
  • Put the plug in the power socket (E).

Notes:

  • Make sure the outside of the inner pot is dry and clean, and that there is no foreign residue on the heating element.
  • Make sure the inner pot is in proper contact with the heating element.

Cooking Rice

  • Follow the steps in "Preparations Before Cooking".
  • Press the Choose menu button (K) to select Fast cook, White rice, or Sticky rice. The indicator of the chosen cooking function blinks ✨. The default cooking timer displays on the screen.
  • Press Start (O) to start the cooking process.
  • When the cooking is finished, you will hear 6 beeps ? and the selected cooking function light will be off.
  • The rice cooker will automatically switch to keep warm mode. The keep-warm indicator lights up ?.

Notes:

  • Press Start/Cancel (O) to terminate the current cooking process.
  • The water level markings inside the inner pot are just indications; you can always adjust the water level for different types of rice and your own preference.
  • Besides following the water level indications, you may also add rice and water at a 1:(1.3-1.6) ratio for rice cooking.
  • To prevent the rice from clumping, loosen the rice within 30 minutes after cooking.
  • Do not exceed the volume indicated nor the maximum water level indicated in the inner pot, as this may cause the rice cooker to overflow and cause potential hazard.

Congee and Soup

  • Put all ingredients into the inner pot.
  • Follow the steps in "Preparations Before Cooking".
  • Press the Choose menu button (K) to select the Congee or Soup function. The indicator of the chosen cooking function blinks ✨. The default cooking timer displays on the screen.
  • You can press the Cooking time button (L) to adjust the time; the cooking time blinks on the screen. With each press, the time increases by 10 minutes. Long press the button to quickly adjust the time by 1 hour.
  • Press Start (O) to start the cooking process.
  • When the cooking is finished, you will hear 6 beeps ? and the selected cooking function light will be off.
  • The rice cooker will automatically switch to keep warm mode. The keep-warm indicator lights up ?.

Baking Cake

  • Whisk the ingredients for the cake well.
  • Coat the inner pot with some butter or cooking oil, and then pour the ingredients into it.
  • Follow the steps in "Preparations Before Cooking".
  • Press the Choose menu button (K) to select the Cake function.
  • Press Start (O) to start the cooking process.
  • When the cooking is finished, you will hear 6 beeps ? and the selected cooking function light will be off. The keep-warm indicator lights up ?.
  • Open the lid and carefully take out the inner pot to cool down.
  • After the inner pot has cooled down, place a plate or cake rack on top of the pot, and then flip over to take the cake out.

Steam

  • Add some water into the inner pot.
  • Put the steam basket into the inner pot.
  • Place food on a food plate or directly on the steaming basket.
  • Press the Choose menu button (K) to select the Steam function. The indicator of the chosen cooking function blinks ✨. The default cooking timer displays on the screen.
  • You can press the Cooking time button (L) to adjust the time; the cooking time after setting blinks on the screen.
  • Press Start (O) to start the cooking process.
  • When the cooking is finished, you will hear 6 beeps ? and the selected cooking function light will be off.
  • The rice cooker will automatically switch to keep warm mode. The keep-warm indicator lights up ?.

Preset Time for Delayed Cooking

Notes:

  • The preset function is not available for Cake and Keep warm.
  • The preset time is up to 24 hours.
  • The preset timer should be longer than the cooking time.
  • If you want to enjoy delicious rice after 8 hours, set the preset time to 8 hours.
  • Choose a function you need, press the Cooking time booking button (N) to set the preset time. The cooking time booking indicator blinks ✨. The time on the screen blinks.
  • Press the Cooking time booking button (N) to adjust the time. With each press, the time increases by 10 minutes. Long press the button to quickly adjust the time by 1 hour.
  • Press Start (O) to start the cooking process. The rice cooker starts countdown until the cooking process is finished.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Notes:

  • Unplug the Rice cooker before starting to clean it.
  • Wait until the appliance has cooled down sufficiently before cleaning.

Inner lid

  • Remove the inner lid that can be detached from the top lid and clean it.
  • Soak the inner lid in warm water and wash it with a sponge.
  • Remove all the food residues stuck to the appliance.
  • Reattach the inner lid to the top lid.

Steam valve

  • Remove the inner lid.
  • Remove the steam valve from the top lid.
  • Rinse the steam valve to remove any food residues. Once it has been cleaned, reattach the steam valve to the top lid.

Interior

Top lid and inside of the appliance:

  • Wipe with a wrung-out cloth.
  • Remove all the food residues stuck to the appliance.

Heating element:

  • Wipe with a wrung-out cloth.
  • Remove all the food residues.

Exterior

  • Wipe with a cloth dampened with soap water.
  • Only use a soft and dry cloth to wipe the control panel.
  • Make sure to remove all the food residues.

Accessories

Rice scoop, steaming basket, and inner pot.

  • Soak in hot water and clean with a sponge.

Recycling

Do not throw away the product with normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment.

Follow your country's rules for the separate collection of electrical and electronic products. Correct disposal helps prevent negative consequences for the environment and human health.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter problems when using this appliance, check the following points before requesting service. If you cannot solve the problem, contact the Philips Consumer Care Center in your country.

ProblemSolution
The light on the button does not go on.There is a connection problem. Check if the power cord is connected to the rice cooker properly and if the plug is inserted firmly into the power outlet.
The light is defective. Take the appliance to your Philips dealer or a service center authorized by Philips.
The rice is not cooked.There is not enough water. Add water according to the scale on the inside of the inner pot.
Make sure that there is no foreign residue on the heating element and the outside of the inner pot before switching the rice cooker on.
The heating element is damaged, or the inner pot is deformed. Take the rice cooker to your Philips dealer or a service center authorized by Philips.
The rice is too hard, or not well cooked.Add more water into the rice or cook longer.
The appliance does not switch to keep warm mode automatically.The temperature control system has malfunction. Take the appliance to your Philips dealer or a service center authorized by Philips.
During cooking, there is water spilling in the rice cooker.Based on the rice amount and different types of rice, add the appropriate amount of water according to the water level indication on the inner pot.
Rice smells bad after cooking.Use a cleaning agent and warm water to clean the inner pot. After cooking, make sure the steam vent cap, inner lid, and inner pot are cleaned thoroughly. Clean the inner pot with some washing detergent and warm water.
E1, E2, E3 or E4 displays on the screen.The sensor has malfunction. Take the appliance to your Philips dealer or a service center authorized by Philips.
E5 or E6 displays on the screen.The voltage is too high or too low. Once the voltage in your area recovers, the error code will be disappeared from the screen.
