Extending Your WiFi Network
Two methods are provided for extending your WiFi network:
Method 1: Using WPS
- Power on the Repeater by plugging it into a power outlet near the router. Wait for the PWR LED to turn solid blue.
- Press the WPS button on your router, and within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the repeater.
- Wait for the Signal LED on the repeater to turn solid blue. If it doesn't, try Method 1 again or use Method 2.
Relocating the Repeater:
- For optimal performance, plug the repeater into an outlet halfway between the router and the WiFi dead zone, ensuring it's within the range of your existing WiFi network.
- Position the antennas upward and vertical to the ground.
- Wait for the Signal LED to turn blue. If not, relocate the repeater closer to the router.
- Connect your WiFi devices to the repeater using the SSIDs set by yourself (e.g., netis_2.4G_EXT / netis_5G_EXT) or your router's SSID with the same WiFi password.
Method 2: Using Web UI
- Power on the Repeater by plugging it into a power outlet near the router.
- Connect your WiFi device to the repeater's WiFi network (e.g., 'netis', 'netis_2.4G_EXT', 'netis_5G_EXT'). Disable mobile data if applicable.
- Open a web browser and navigate to http://re.netis.home or http://192.168.0.254.
- Create a login password for future access.
- Select the WiFi network (SSID) you wish to extend.
- Enter the password for the selected WiFi network.
- Configure the extended network's SSID and password (by default, it uses your router's SSID with a suffix and the same password).
- Click 'Extend' and wait for the 'Extended successfully!' message.
Relocating the Repeater:
- For better performance, plug the repeater into an outlet halfway between the router and the WiFi dead zone, ensuring it's within the range of your existing WiFi network.
- Position the antennas upward and vertical to the ground.
- Wait for the Signal LED to turn blue. If not, relocate the repeater closer to the router.
- Connect your WiFi devices to the repeater. The repeater's SSIDs are your WiFi router's SSID with a suffix (2.4G EXT/5G EXT). The WiFi password of the repeater is the same as your WiFi router.
FAQ
- Q1: Cannot login to the web UI. Ensure your device is connected to the repeater's WiFi, mobile data is off, and the URL includes 'http://'. If using a computer, ensure it's connected to 'netis_EXT' and set to obtain IP and DNS automatically. Restore to factory settings if issues persist.
- Q2: How to restore to factory settings? While the PWR LED is solid on, press and release the RESET button using a paper clip. The repeater will restore to factory settings after the PWR LED turns solid on.
- Q3: Repeater cannot find the WiFi network. Ensure the router's encryption is WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK. Change from WEP or WPA/WPA (Enterprise) if necessary, then try scanning again.
