Reduce Installation Cost with Variable Flow Technology
The FTXL™ operates over a wide range of flow rates with minimal pressure drop. This enables the installation of a "full flow" (variable primary) system, eliminating the need for costly primary/secondary piping and pumps typically required for water-tube boilers. This flexibility also allows the FTXL™ to efficiently handle frequent fluctuations in system flow rates.
Smooth-Running, Modulating Combustion
FTXL boilers feature a top-mounted micrometal fiber burner. Heat energy is driven downward through stainless steel fire tubes, with exhaust venting from the bottom. The burner modulates with up to a 10:1 turndown ratio, automatically adjusting its firing rate to match building heat loads. For example, an FTX500 can fire at its maximum 500,000 Btu/hr and gradually reduce output to as low as 50,000 Btu/hr as demand decreases. This modulating system ensures smooth, efficient operation without frequent on/off cycling.
Minimum Supply Pressure, Installer-Friendly
The FTXL™ operates with supply gas pressure as low as 4 inches water column. Its Negative Regulation system draws gas into a pre-mix combustion system, reducing reliance on utility pressure. This results in steady operation even in low gas pressure environments or during peak demand. Automatic fan speed control ensures the correct fuel/air ratio for superior combustion across the entire operating range.
Introducing Boiler Plant Control, From Anywhere
The FTXL™ features Lochinvar's next-generation, all-in-one SMART SYSTEM operating control with a re-designed multi-color LCD interface. SMART SYSTEM offers extensive functionality and can integrate with Building Automation Systems via ModBus. The CON-X-US mobile communication platform extends SMART SYSTEM capabilities, allowing boiler plant control from any location.
CON-X-US enables monitoring and management of multiple FTXL boiler plants remotely. It sends alerts via text or email for system status changes and allows users to check status and reprogram functions from anywhere. The free CON-X-US mobile application provides remote access to all SMART SYSTEM functions via any internet-capable device.

Peace of Mind, When It Matters Most
Up to eight FTXL boilers can be sequenced using a simple 2-wire daisy-chain connection. Cascade sequencing can be programmed for "Lead-Lag" or "Efficiency Optimized" operation. In Lead-Lag, one boiler modulates, and others engage as load increases. The first-on role shifts daily for equal runtime. In Efficiency Optimized systems, all boilers fire and modulate simultaneously for maximum thermal efficiency. Cascade Redundancy ensures system operation even if a lead boiler is offline for maintenance.
The Smallest Footprint, Easy to Install & Service
FTXL boilers can be installed with zero clearance on the left and right, featuring a compact installed footprint of just 6.2 sq. ft. All water, gas, and vent connections are located at the rear of the unit. A hinged top provides easy access to components, and the front panel is removable without tools.
Flexible Venting Options
The FTXL™ offers 6 venting options and supports direct-vent air intake and exhaust runs up to 100 equivalent feet using PVC, CPVC, polypropylene, or stainless steel pipe. Multiple units can also be common-vented to reduce installation time and material costs.
