Chapter 1: Meet your CPE
The TCL CPE is a 4G LTE mobile router that offers download speeds of up to 150 Mbps, enabling fast and secure Wi-Fi in any location with cellular network coverage.
1.1 System requirements
The CPE supports up to 32 connected devices with a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (802.11b/g/n). It is compatible with various browsers, including Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Google Chrome.
1.2 Overview
The device features the following components:
- 1. Power indicator: Solid blue indicates the adapter is connected. Off means the device is off.
- 2. Wi-Fi/WPS indicator: Blinking blue signifies WPS connection availability. Solid blue means Wi-Fi is enabled. Off indicates Wi-Fi is disabled.
- 3. Network indicator: Blinking blue and red means target tariffs are exceeded. Solid blue indicates the device is connected to the network. Solid red means the Micro SIM card is unavailable or the device is not registered to the network.
- 4. Signal indicator: Displays signal strength with blue bars; more bars indicate a stronger signal. Off means no signal.
- 5. Micro SIM card slot: For inserting a micro SIM card.
- 6. WPS button: Press for 3 seconds to enable WPS function. It automatically disables if a WPS connection is not established within 2 minutes.
- 7. Wi-Fi button: Press for 3 seconds to disable/enable CPE Wi-Fi. Enabled by default. When disabled, the SSID and Wi-Fi name are not detectable by other users.
- 8. LAN/WAN port: For connecting to an internet source or wired devices like computers or switches.
- 9. Power connector: For connecting the power adapter.
- 10. Power button: Press to power on/off the device.
- 11. Reset button: Use a paperclip to press for 3 seconds to reset the device.
Chapter 2: Get started
This chapter guides you through setting up your CPE.
2.1 Connect your CPE to the Internet
The device can connect to the network via cellular or broadband.
Method one: via cellular network
- Remove the back cover.
- Install a SIM card, ensuring correct orientation to avoid jamming. Do not remove the micro SIM card while the device is in use.
- Re-attach the back cover.
Note: Record the default Wi-Fi name, password, and web UI login information from the label inside your router before use.
Method two: via broadband connection
Connect a network cable to the WAN/LAN port to access the internet via a wired broadband connection.
2.2 Identify an ideal location
For optimal performance, place your 4G CPE:
- Near a window.
- In a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from walls and electrical appliances.
- Near a power outlet.
- On a sturdy and flat surface.
2.3 Connect the power adaptor
Plug the power adapter into the device.
2.4 Access CPE network
You can connect devices via wired or wireless connections.
Option 1: WPS button
- Press the WPS button on your CPE for 3 seconds.
- Enable the WPS function on your wireless device within 2 minutes.
Option 2: PBC
- Log in to the web UI, navigate to Devices settings > Wi-Fi settings.
- Choose Enabled for WPS switch, and click Apply.
- Go to Add new devices and choose PBC; enter device information, then click Apply.
Option 3: WPS PIN code
- Log in to the web UI, navigate to Devices settings > Wi-Fi settings.
- Choose Enabled for Current PIN switch, and click Apply.
- Note the Current PIN.
- Enter the PIN code when the device attempts to connect. You can click Reset PIN code to reset it or Random PIN code to change it. The default PIN is on the device label.
Chapter 3: Access the web UI
This chapter explains how to access and navigate the CPE's web UI.
3.1 Log in to the web UI
- Open a web browser on a device connected to the CPE network.
- Go to http://192.168.1.1 and follow the on-screen instructions. Refer to the label inside your CPE for default login information.
3.2 Explore web UI features
The web UI includes tiles for Connection, Usage, SMS, Settings, and More. Commonly used status icons provide information about your CPE:
- Signal strength indicator: Number of signal bars indicates strength.
- No signal / no server: Indicates no network connection.
- WAN network connection: Globe icon with arrows indicates connection to the WAN network.
- Broadband connection: Globe icon indicates connection to the broadband network.
- WAN network disconnection: Globe icon with an X indicates disconnection from the WAN network.
- Connecting to network: Globe icon with a loading symbol indicates the device is connecting.
- New messages: Envelope icon with a number indicates new messages.
- Valid SIM card: SIM card icon with a checkmark.
- No SIM card / incorrect SIM card: SIM card icon with an X.
- Connected users: User icon with a number indicates connected devices.
- Wi-Fi off: Wi-Fi icon with an X indicates Wi-Fi is off.
Chapter 4: Configure your CPE
This chapter details how to configure your CPE using the web UI.
4.1 Home
The Home page allows configuration of Internet, Statistics, Advanced, DHCP, Home network, and Wi-Fi settings.
- Internet: View device information (IMEI, IMSI, LAN Domain, WAN IP, WAN IPv6).
- Statistics: Monitor current session and monthly traffic. Reset statistics here.
- Advanced: View firmware version and signal quality.
- DHCP: View assigned IP addresses and subnet mask.
- Home network: See the number of connected devices.
- Wi-Fi: View Wi-Fi network information (SSID, max access number, MAC address, band).
4.2 Quick Settings
Set up basic gateway safety parameters. Use Previous/Next to navigate and Apply to save.
- Network Name (SSID): The name of the Wi-Fi network.
- SSID Broadcast: Enabled by default. Disabling hides the SSID and requires manual entry for connection.
- Security Mode: Options include OPEN, WPA2-PSK(AES), and WPA/WPA2-PSK(TKIP/AES).
- Pass Phrase: Set a password for your Wi-Fi network.
4.3 Devices Settings
- Connected Devices: View and edit names of connected devices.
- Advanced Settings:
- DHCP: Configures IP address and subnet mask assignment for connected devices.
- USSD: Enter USSD codes to communicate with your operator.
- PIN Management: Enable/disable SIM PIN and set/change PIN codes. A PUK code is required if the PIN is entered incorrectly 3 times.
- Static IP: Binds computer IP addresses with MAC addresses to prevent ARP attacks.
- Static Routing: Manually configured routes for efficient network operation.
- DDNS: Maps a dynamic WAN IP address to a static domain name.
- Cell Locking: Locks the CPE's network to a specific cell or frequency.
- FOTA upgrade: Check for and install firmware updates. Do not power off the device during the update.
Internet Settings
- Network Selection: Choose network mode (4G only, 3G only, 2G only, 4G/3G only). Click Apply after changes.
- APN: Set up, edit, or delete APN profiles.
- Add a new profile: Click Add New, input parameters, and click Save.
- Edit a profile: Select a profile, click Edit, modify parameters, and click Save.
- Delete a profile: Select a profile and click Delete. Default profiles cannot be deleted.
- Set as default: Select a profile and click Set Default.
- WAN Mode: Configure internet access.
- Mode 1: cable: Connect via Ethernet cable. Set connection mode to Dynamic IP, Static IP, or PPPoE.
- Mode 2: 4G: Connect via cellular network (refer to section 2.4).
- Roaming: Enable connection to roaming networks (disabled by default).
- Statistics Settings: Set billing day, data plan, and time limits. Click Apply.
Wi-Fi Settings
- Wi-Fi Switch: Enable or Disable Wi-Fi.
- SSID Settings: Set up to three SSIDs (Main SSID, SSID1, SSID2). Click Apply.
- Network Name (SSID): Name of the Wi-Fi network.
- SSID Broadcast: Enabled by default. Disabling hides the SSID.
- Security Mode: Options include OPEN, WPA2-PSK(AES), and WPA/WPA2-PSK(TKIP/AES).
WPS Settings
WPS simplifies connecting CPE and wireless devices. Connect via PIN or PBC (refer to section 2.4).
MAC Filter
Set MAC address filtering mode (Ruleless, White List, Black List).
Advanced Settings
- Network Mode: Default is 802.11b/g/n.
- Channel Bandwidth: Select from options; defaults to Auto.
- Country/Region Code: Select the appropriate code for your device.
- Frequency (Channel): Select a channel for optimal performance; defaults to Auto.
- DCS: Dynamic channel adjustment option, available when automatic channel is selected.
4.4 SMS
Check messages saved in the device or SIM card.
- Read a message: Click on the message to expand.
- Send a message: Click New, input recipient number and message, click Send.
- Reply to a message: Click the message, input reply content, click Send.
- Delete a message: Tick the box next to the message(s) and click Delete.
- Delete all messages: Tick the top-left box and click Delete.
- Refresh the inbox: Click Refresh.
4.5 Firewall
- Port filtering: Disabled by default. Blocks specific devices from accessing the internet.
- Port mapping: Maps internal LAN IP addresses to public WAN IP addresses. Disabled by default.
- Port Forwarding: Enables external users to access FTP and other services within the LAN. Disabled by default.
- URL filtering: Set internet access schedules and block specific websites.
- UPnP: Allows connected devices to discover each other and establish network services. Disabled by default.
- DMZ: Enables DMZ function and sets a new host IP address if external users cannot access certain LAN network services. Disabled by default.
- Rate limiting: Limits download/upload speed. Disabled by default.
4.6 System settings
- System settings:
- Time setting: Set current local time, time set mode (SNTP auto sync by default), SNTP server, Time Zone, and Daylight saving time (Disabled by default).
- Modify password: Change the login username and password.
- Restore factory setting: Resets the CPE to factory settings if needed.
- Network tools:
- Ping: Test network connections by sending ICMP Echo requests.
- Trace: Debug web addresses.
- System upgrade: Browse for and upload software updates.
- Reboot: Restart the device.
Important safety information
Read this chapter carefully before using the device. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage.
- Do not use the device where wireless devices are prohibited.
- Keep the device at least 15 cm away from medical devices like pacemakers. Consult your physician for specific advice.
- Do not allow children to use the device unsupervised.
- Handle the device with care and keep it in a clean, dust-free place.
- Do not attempt to repair the device yourself.
- Do not drop, throw, or bend the device.
- Do not dispose of the device or accessories in fire.
- Avoid exposing the device to adverse weather or environmental conditions. The recommended operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
- Use only compatible power adapters and accessories.
Power adapter
Mains powered adapters operate within 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F). Adapters designed for this device meet safety standards for information technology and office equipment. Input voltage/AC frequency: 100~240 V, 50/60 Hz. Output voltage/current/power: 12.0V / 1.0A / 12.0W.
Dispose of the device and accessories according to local environmental regulations. Look for specific bins at municipal waste disposal centers or collection points at points of sale for recycling.
Operating temperature
The device operates best between 0°C and 40°C (32°F to 104°F). Store between -20°C and 70°C (-4°F to 158°F). Avoid dramatic temperature or humidity changes.
Radio waves
This device meets government requirements for radio wave exposure. FCC ID: 2ACCJB202. It complies with FCC Rules Part 15 for Class B digital devices, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. If interference occurs, try reorienting the antenna, increasing separation, using a different circuit, or consulting a technician. Changes not expressly approved may void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
The device operates on GSM/EDGE/GPRS (900/1800/1900MHz), UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC HSPA+ (B1/8), or 4G (B1/3/5/8/28/41).

Troubleshooting
Use this section to diagnose and resolve common problems.
General problems
- Problem: I've forgotten the Wi-Fi password.
Solution: Log in to the web UI, go to Devices Settings > Wi-Fi Settings > SSID Settings > Display Password. Alternatively, press the power and WPS buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to restore factory settings. - Problem: How do I change the Wi-Fi name and password?
Solution: Log in to the web UI, go to Devices Settings > Wi-Fi Settings > SSID Settings. - Problem: I can't find the Wi-Fi name on my wireless device.
Solution: Ensure the Wi-Fi signal LED is solid blue. Refresh the network list on your wireless device. - Problem: How do I set a new PIN code for my SIM card?
Solution: Log in to the web UI, go to Settings > PIN Code Settings. Enable PIN Code Operation and enter a new PIN code. Click Apply. - Problem: Where can I find the device name and firmware version?
Solution: Log in to the web UI; the information is available on the home page.
Web UI problems
- Problem: How can I access the web UI?
Solution: Open a web browser, go to http://192.168.1.1, and enter login information from the device label. - Problem: I can't log in to the web UI.
Solution: Ensure http://192.168.1.1 is entered correctly, the CPE is powered on, and the device is properly connected to the CPE network. - Problem: How do I change the login password?
Solution: Log in to the web UI, go to System Settings > System Settings > Modify Password. - Problem: "No SIM card" or "Invalid SIM card" is displayed on the web UI.
Solution: Ensure a SIM card is present. Reinstall the SIM card and log in again. Power off the device before removing the SIM card.
Connection problems
- Problem: I can't access the Internet.
Solution:- If no SIM card is detected, power off the CPE, reinstall the SIM card, and try again.
- If a PIN code is required, enter it and try again.
- If no network is available, place the CPE in an area with a better signal (e.g., near a window).
- Reboot the CPE by pressing the power button for 10 seconds.
- If MAC filter is enabled, ensure your device's MAC address is not blocked.
- Problem: How can I connect to the CPE network?
Solution: Select the CPE's Wi-Fi name (SSID) on your wireless device and enter the Wi-Fi password (found on the device label). - Problem: "PIN lock" or "PUK lock" is displayed on the screen of the device connected to the CPE network.
Solution: The SIM card is locked. Log in to the web UI and enter the PIN or PUK code. Contact your internet service provider for the PUK code. Note: Incorrect PIN entry 3 times requires PUK code; incorrect PUK entry 10 times permanently locks the SIM card.
