ASUS PRIME B650M-A II Quick Start Guide
This guide provides essential steps for installing and setting up your ASUS PRIME B650M-A II motherboard.
Motherboard Layout
The ASUS PRIME B650M-A II motherboard features the AM5 socket for the CPU. It includes four DIMM slots (A1, A2, B1, B2) for memory modules, multiple M.2 slots and SATA ports for storage devices, and PCIe slots for expansion cards. Key connectors include the 24-pin ATX power connector, 8-pin CPU power connector, system panel headers, USB headers, and rear I/O ports.
Step 1: Install the CPU
Open the CPU socket retention lever. Align the CPU's triangle marking with the socket's triangle marking. Gently place the CPU into the socket. Close the retention lever to secure the CPU.
Step 2: Install the CPU Fan
Mount the CPU cooler according to its specific instructions, ensuring it is securely attached to the motherboard's CPU cooler mounting points. Connect the fan cable to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
Step 3: Install Memory Modules
Open the clips on the DIMM slots. Align the notch on the memory module with the key in the DIMM slot. Press down firmly on both ends of the memory module until the clips snap into place.
Step 4: Install Storage Devices
For M.2 SSDs, remove the M.2 screw, insert the SSD into the slot at an angle, and secure it with the screw. For SATA drives, connect a SATA data cable from the drive to a SATA port on the motherboard and a SATA power cable from the power supply to the drive.
Step 5: Install Expansion Card(s)
Remove the appropriate expansion slot cover(s) from the rear of the chassis. Align the expansion card with the desired PCIe slot and press down firmly until it is fully seated and the retention clip engages.
Step 6: Install the System Panel Connector
Connect the small cables from the PC case's front panel (e.g., power switch, reset switch, HDD LED, power LED) to the corresponding pins on the motherboard's system panel header (F_PANEL).
Step 7: Install ATX Power Connectors
Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector from the power supply to the main ATX power socket on the motherboard. Connect the 4+4 pin or 8-pin EPS/ATX12V power connector from the power supply to the CPU power socket.
Step 8: Connect Input/Output Devices
Connect your keyboard, mouse, monitor (using HDMI or DisplayPort), USB devices, and network cable to the appropriate ports on the rear I/O panel.
Step 9: Power On the System and Install Operating System and Drivers
Connect the power cord, turn on the power supply switch, and press the power button on the PC case. Follow the on-screen prompts to install your operating system and necessary drivers.
