Introduction

The HDMV-16X-PLUS Multi-viewer Switch allows users to view up to sixteen different high-definition video sources simultaneously on a single display device. Connections are managed via HDMI connectors. Advanced viewing options include 16x mode, quad-mode, and full-screen mode. This device simplifies the management of multiple sources by allowing control through the front panel, RS-232, or Hotkeys.

Hardware Installation

Connect all peripheral devices first and power them on before powering on the HDMV-16X-Plus. The control software uses HDMI input port numbers that may differ from those marked on the back panel. Refer to Figure 6-1 for clarity on port numbering used with the control software.

Using the Front Panel Buttons

To switch input channels, press the desired button on the front panel. The green LED above the button will illuminate, indicating that the selected channel has control of the keyboard and mouse.

To access the control menu for changing the View Mode, press and hold buttons 8 and 16 (labeled "Mode Select") for 2 seconds. This will cause the 3 display buttons (Full, Quad, 16X) to blink. Selecting one of these buttons will change the view mode. A blue light from the selected mode button indicates the current display mode.

Display Modes

Full Screen Mode

In Full Screen mode, one of sixteen video sources is displayed in full screen size and maximum resolution.

Quad Screen Mode

In Quad Screen mode, the screen is split into four equal fields, with four video sources displayed in each field.

16x Mode

In 16x mode, the screen displays all sixteen sources in a four-by-four matrix.

KVM Operation

To enable KVM functionality, connect a USB keyboard to the USB slot indicated by the keyboard symbol and a USB mouse to the USB slot indicated by the mouse symbol on the back panel. Connect all computers or peripherals with a USB keyboard or mouse to the HDMV-16X-Plus USB inputs using a USB Type A to Type B cable.

KVM Control (Hotkeys)

KVM control can be granted via RS-232 or directly through the KVM keyboard. In full screen mode, KVM control is always granted to the selected user. Refer to Figure 8-1 for KVM keyboard commands.

RS-232 Control

The HDMV-16X-PLUS can be controlled via RS-232 commands, requiring an RS-232 card or USB to RS-232 adapter. Connect the RS-232 cable between your PC and the HDMV-16X-PLUS. Refer to Figure 9-1 for connection details.

Use terminal emulation software like PuTTY or HyperTerminal with the following settings for connection: 9600 baud rate, no parity bits, 8 data bits, one stop bit, and no flow control.

Refer to Figure 9-2 for RS-232 console commands.

Limited Warranty Statement

A. Extent of limited warranty

SmartAVI, Inc. warrants the SmartAVI product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of purchase. The customer is responsible for maintaining proof of purchase. This warranty covers defects arising from normal use and does not apply to:

SmartAVI may, at its discretion, replace or repair defective products. If unable to do so within a reasonable time, SmartAVI will refund the product cost. SmartAVI is not obligated to repair, replace, or refund until the defective product is returned.

Replacement products may be new or like new, with at least equal functionality. The limited warranty is valid in any country where the product is distributed by SmartAVI.

B. Limitations of warranty

To the extent allowed by local law, SmartAVI and its third-party suppliers disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, and fitness for a particular purpose.

C. Limitations of liability

Remedies provided in this warranty statement are the customer's sole and exclusive remedies, to the extent allowed by local law. SmartAVI and its third-party suppliers shall not be liable for direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, whether based on contract, tort, or any other legal theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

D. Local law

If this warranty statement is inconsistent with local law, it shall be modified to be consistent with such law.
