Getting Started with Your Incubator
This guide provides essential steps for setting up and operating the Delta Incubators 18 Egg Automatic Incubator. Proper setup ensures optimal conditions for successful egg incubation and hatching.
- Unboxing and Placement: Place the incubator in a well-ventilated room away from direct sunlight, maintaining a stable temperature between 22-33°C.
- Initial Setup: Connect the egg turner gear and test it using the '+' button.
- Humidity Preparation: For the first 24 hours, use one water bottle to maintain humidity between 45-65% (Day 1-18) and above 65% (Day 19-21). Monitor and adjust the vent as needed.
- Incubation Start: After 24 hours of running, set the eggs. Allow a few hours for the incubator to reach the target temperature (preset at 37.8°C).
- Monitoring: Regularly check the humidity reading and refill water bottles every 2-3 days.
- Egg Candling: Candle eggs on day 10 to identify and remove infertile eggs. Repeat candling on day 18, then remove the egg rollers and lay eggs flat on the grid.
- Hatching Phase: Increase humidity above 65% by filling both water bottles and closing the vent. This helps chicks break through the shell. Light misting of eggs may be beneficial for thick shells. Avoid opening the incubator frequently during hatching to maintain humidity.
- Post-Hatching: Chicks typically hatch between day 22-23. Once all eggs have hatched, remove the chicks and thoroughly clean and dry the incubator before storing or starting a new batch.
