Meter Dimensions and Cut-out
The 3DWA300 meter features a square front panel with approximate dimensions of 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) by 4.5 inches (11.4 cm). The depth of the unit is approximately 2.26 inches (5.7 cm).
The front display area shows key parameters such as MAX, MIN, LM1, LM2, and POWER. It also includes indicators for VA MAX/MIN, PRINT, SET, PF LIMITS, and PROG. The main display typically shows readings like '10.00', '3.88', and '9.58'.
The side view illustrates the mounting mechanism, indicating the placement of four 8-32 screws for securing the unit. It also shows a connector assembly on the backplate.
The recommended cutout for installation is circular, with a diameter of 4.0 inches (101.6 mm) and a depth requirement of 1.6875 inches (42.86 mm).
Electrical Installation
For detailed wiring diagrams, please refer to the meter's User manual available on the enclosed CD.
The following are common three-phase system configurations:
Three-Phase, Four-Wire Wye System with Direct Voltage and CTs
This configuration involves a three-phase, four-wire Wye connection for power input (LINE N, A, B, C) and output (LOAD). The meter's POWER terminal block is connected to L1, L2, L3, and N. The PORT terminals (1 through 13) are also utilized for connections. Ground symbols indicate system grounding.
Three-Phase, Four-Wire System Wye with CTs and PTs
This setup also uses a three-phase, four-wire Wye system. It specifies the use of Current Transformers (CTs) and Potential Transformers (PTs) to measure voltage and current accurately. Connections are made to LINE inputs (A, B, C) and LOAD outputs, with the meter's PORT terminals facilitating these connections.
Three-Phase, Three-Wire System Delta with Direct Voltage and CTs
This diagram illustrates a three-phase, three-wire Delta connection. It shows LINE inputs (A, B, C) and LOAD outputs. The meter's PORT terminals are connected to receive voltage and current inputs via CTs.
Three-Phase, Three-Wire Open Delta with two CTs and two PTs
This configuration depicts a three-phase, three-wire Open Delta system, employing two CTs and two PTs. It shows LINE inputs (A, B, C) and LOAD outputs, with the meter's PORT terminals connected for measurement purposes.
Programming the Meter
Basic programming information is provided here. For comprehensive step-by-step instructions, consult the meter's User manual on the enclosed CD.
Programming tasks are organized into 9 Groups, each containing specific programming Functions. Users can navigate through these Groups and Functions using the meter's buttons.
Programmable Function values are entered as four-digit numeric fields. For instance, to input the number 25, you must enter '0025'.
Enter Programming Mode
- Press and hold the PRINT/PROG button until '3' appears in the bottom display.
- Press the SET button to change the displayed value from '3' to '333'.
- Digits will begin scrolling in the upper display. Press the SET button each time '5' appears until the bottom display reads '555', which is the meter's password.
- Following password entry, 'PPP' and then '0' will appear in the upper display, indicating the meter is now in programming mode for Group 0.
Exit Programming Mode
IMPORTANT: You must exit Programming Mode to ensure any changes are stored. The procedure for exiting depends on your current location within the programming menu (Function level or Group level).
If you are at the Function level, begin with Step 1. If you are at the Group level, begin with Step 3.
- Press the VA/PF button until the Group number in the upper display is followed by 'E' (Exit).
- Press the PRINT/PROG button to return to the Group level.
- Press the VA/PF button until 'E' appears in the upper display.
- Press the PRINT/PROG button to exit Programming Mode.
Programming Voltage, Amp, and Watt Full Scale Settings
Refer to the PT and CT tables provided on page 3 for relevant values.
- Enter programming mode using the steps outlined above.
- Press the VA/PF button until '1' appears in the upper display.
- Press the PRINT/PROG button to activate GROUP 1. The upper display will show '10'. The current value will be in the lower display, and a vertical line in the middle display indicates the Scale factor.
- Press the PRINT/PROG button to begin data entry. The lower display will be replaced by a single vertical line.
- Use the MAX/MIN/LIMITS button to set the Scale factor by moving the vertical line. Moving UP adjusts for Kilovolts, while moving DOWN adjusts for Volts. (Note: For Amps settings, UP represents Kiloamps and DOWN represents Amps. For Watts settings, UP represents Megawatts and DOWN represents Kilowatts.)
- Press the PRINT/PROG button to store the entered value. A decimal point will appear in the lower display.
- Use the MAX/MIN/LIMITS button to position the decimal point correctly, then press PRINT/PROG to store the setting.
- If the decimal point is already in the desired position, press PRINT/PROG to continue.
- The middle display will show the current Full Scale setting. Four dashes will appear in the lower display for data entry. Enter the desired four-digit Full Scale value by pressing MAX/MIN/LIMITS to increase the digit's value, and then pressing PRINT/PROG to store each digit. Repeat this process until the entire value is entered.
- The lower display will show the new Full Scale setting, the middle display will indicate the Scale Factor, and the Group and Function number will be shown in the upper display.
IMPORTANT: Once you have completed the programming, follow the Exiting procedure detailed on page 2.
For more detailed step-by-step instructions on additional programming tasks, please refer to your meter's User manual on the enclosed CD.
