Installation Guide
Step 1: Prepare the door and check dimensions
For installation on new doors:
- Prepare door and jamb: Take out the 'Door Marking Template'. Fold and place it on the door 36" (915mm) from the ground.
- Mark the door for drilling: Mark the center hole on the door edge for the 1" (25mm) latch bolt. Mark the center hole on the door face for the 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm) backset.
- Drill and chisel door: Drill a 2-1/8" (54mm) hole through the door face. Drill a 1" (25mm) hole in the door edge for the latch assembly. Insert the latch assembly, ensuring it's parallel to the door face. Mark the outline and remove the latch. Chisel 1/8" (3mm) deep or until the latch face is flush with the door edge.
- Mark and drill door jamb: Mark the center hole on the jamb edge, aligned with the latch bolt. Drill a hole in the jamb. Check if the strike plate fits. Outline the strike plate edges and chisel 1/8" (3mm) deep. Install the strike plate using the provided screws.
For installation on doors with pre-drilled holes:
- Check door compatibility / Remove existing door knob (if applicable). Ensure the door has compatible pre-drilled holes.
- Double-check door dimensions: Verify backset (2-3/8" or 2-3/4"), door thickness (1-3/8" to 2.5"), hole in the door (2-1/8"), and hole in the door edge (1").
General Installation Notes:
- DO NOT use an electric screwdriver; hand-tighten screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
- DO NOT over-tighten screws.
- DO NOT install if the door thickness is out of range.
Step 2: Install the Latch and Strike Plate
- Hold the latch in front of the door hole, with the latch face flush against the door edge. Ensure the square-shaped hole is centered.
- For a 2-3/4" (70mm) backset, pull to extend the latch to center the squared-shaped hole.
- Install the latch using screws.
- In most cases, the existing strike plate can be used. If not, ensure the bolt aligns correctly with the strike plate.
Step 3: Install the Exterior Assembly
- Ensure the door is open.
- Make sure the keyhole is in a vertical position.
- Insert the Exterior Assembly onto the door, aligning rod bolts with the latch's round holes and the square spindle and control wire with the square-shaped hole. The "UP" mark on the spindle should face upward.
- Connect the control wire to the female socket on the battery compartment. Forcing the control wire elsewhere may damage the connector.
Step 4: Install the Interior Assembly
- Remove the top screw and pull out the cover.
- Install the interior knob onto the door, aligning rod bolts with the latch's round holes and the square spindle and control wire with the square-shaped hole.
- Secure both knobs using the 2-3/8" (60mm) or 1-3/5" (40mm) screws. Tighten with a Phillips screwdriver, but DO NOT over-tighten.
- Plug the control wire male plug into the female socket on the battery compartment.
- Install the batteries.
- Press and hold the reset button until a long beep is heard.
- Install and secure the cover with the screw.
Step 5: Testing door knob
- Always test with the door open.
- Ensure both interior and exterior knobs are not slanted.
- Enter the default admin passcode (010203) and test the exterior knob; the bolt should move smoothly.
- Use keys to test the exterior knob; the bolt should move smoothly.
- Test the interior knob; the bolt should move smoothly.
- Close the door to ensure the bolt fits correctly in the jamb hole.
NOTE:
- Ensure the door knob has been reset successfully.
- If you forget your passcode or your fingerprint is not recognized, use backup keys.
- If backup keys are lost, contact a locksmith immediately.
Congratulations! Sequra is ready for use. ?
