Safety Information
WARNING: Risk of electric shock – This pump is not approved for use in swimming pool or marine areas.
WARNING: To provide continued protection against risk of electric shock, connect to appropriate transformer to properly grounded, Residual Current Device (RCD) outlets only, using the following guidelines:
- The supply cord cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the appliance should be scrapped.
- Always disconnect the appliance from the supply before assembling, disassembling, or cleaning.
- Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
- Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Pumps without indication that they are protected against the effect of freezing shall not be left outside during freezing weather conditions.
- Do not use extension cords.
Important Safety Precautions:
- Always operate the pump fully submerged. Failure to do so will overheat the pump and cause it to fail, voiding the warranty. DO NOT OPERATE DRY!
- Use only in a fully-assembled state, ensuring the filter screen and sponge are attached. Operating without these can cause pump failure and void the warranty.
- Do not wear loose clothing that may become entangled in the impeller or other moving parts.
- Keep clear of suction and discharge openings. DO NOT insert fingers into the pump with power connected.
- Do not pump hazardous materials or liquids other than water, such as oil or organic solvents.
- Do not block or restrict discharge.
- Products returned must be cleaned, sanitized, or decontaminated before shipment to ensure employee safety. All applicable laws and regulations apply.
IMPORTANT: Aquascape, Inc. is not responsible for losses, injury, or death resulting from failure to observe safety precautions, misuse, or abuse of pumps or equipment.

Installation
The Ultra Water Pump is designed to be submerged directly into a decorative fountain basin (Ex. 1) or pond (Ex. 2). Several features and benefits of this pump make it the ideal choice for a wide variety of water feature applications.
Ex. 1: Decorative Fountain
Ex. 2: Pond with external filter (Shown with Pond Filter Urn #77006 or #77011)
To maximize pond circulation, locate the pump as far away as possible from the location of the water entering back into the water feature.
Connecting Fittings:
- It is recommended that the pump NOT be positioned in the deepest area of the pond to protect fish if the pond drains. Use bricks or stones to raise the pump if necessary.
- The Ultra Water Pump includes fittings for various plumbing options. Select and install the appropriate fitting(s).
- The included Multi-Hose Adapter(s) accommodate different tubing diameters and are ideal for single plumbing lines.
- The Multi-Hose Adapter can be threaded directly into the pump discharge (Ex. 3).
- If using pipe larger than the smallest adapter section, trim the smaller sections to prevent flow restriction (Ex. 4).
- The included threaded FPT 90° elbow allows horizontal water flow, useful for fountain basins with limited vertical space (Ex. 5). To install, attach the MPT Coupling to the pump discharge, then thread the collared elbow fitting onto the coupling.
- Collared connections allow quick disconnection for maintenance.
- The included 3/4" Valve (Ex. 6) or 3/4" 3-Way Valve (Ex. 7) allows customization of flow rates.
- The included flow control valve can be installed directly into the pump discharge or horizontally using the threaded FPT 90° elbow (Ex. 8).
- Adjust the valve(s) to control water flow.
- When using the 3-Way Valve, close unused valves to maximize flow to active valves.
- Attach tubing to fittings using a twisting motion (Ex. 9, Ex. 10). Use a hose clamp (not included) if the tubing is loose.
- If tubing is difficult to attach, heat the hose with a hair dryer or dip in hot water for a few seconds. Lubrication (silicone grease or olive oil) can also help.
- Connect the other end of the pump tubing to the decorative fountain or pond filter.
- Connect the transformer to an outlet protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD) (Ex. 11). Check for leaks after the pump is running and water is circulating.
General Maintenance
Regular inspection is recommended to ensure proper pump function. Reduced water flow may indicate a clogged filter screen or sponge.
- The front screen can be removed by twisting the locking knob counter-clockwise and pulling the screen off (Ex. 12).
- Always disconnect power before maintenance. Do not operate with screens or sponge removed, as this voids the warranty.
- The filter sponge protects the pump from fine particles like sand. Remove and clean the filter sponge as needed by rinsing with clean water.
- Clean the inner filter screen by twisting it counterclockwise (Ex. 13).
- Internal Pump Cleaning: If flow is still reduced after cleaning screens and sponge, clean the pump interior. Remove the water chamber cover by rotating counter-clockwise and pulling outward (Ex. 14). This exposes the impeller assembly. Carefully remove the impeller (Ex. 15), being careful not to lose the two plastic bearing washers or centering bushings.
- If the rotor assembly or pump body has scale build-up, clean with a mild acid like white vinegar or a non-abrasive remover. Use a sponge or soft-bristled brush (Ex. 16).
Replacing the Impeller
The impeller assembly is the only moving part and experiences wear. If pump performance is poor after cleaning, it may be time to replace the impeller. Replacement impeller kits are available from local Aquascape dealers.
- Note the orientation of parts shown in Ex. 17. Replacement kits include all parts. Remove all old parts before installing new ones.
- A centering bushing is required on both ends of the impeller shaft; one is inside the pump, and the other is in the water chamber cover (Ex. 18).
- Slide the first interior bearing washer onto the ceramic shaft (Ex. 19).
- Place the ceramic impeller shaft into the pump, ensuring the centering bushing seats correctly (Ex. 20).
- Carefully slide the impeller back onto the shaft (Ex. 21). The impeller assembly is magnetic and will pull forcefully onto the pump.
- Install the second outer bearing washer over the impeller shaft (Ex. 22).
- Replace the water chamber cover, ensuring the impeller shaft centering bushing aligns with the tabs on the pump housing, and rotate clockwise to lock (Ex. 23).
- Replace the pre-filter sponge and filter screen before operating the pump. Using the pump without these components may damage it and void the warranty (Ex. 24).
Winter Application
To prevent freeze damage, disconnect the pump, remove it from the water, clean it with fresh water, and store it in a frost-free location. The pump can run in cold weather, but should be removed if a power failure occurs to prevent damage to the pump or tubing.
Troubleshooting
- Reduced water flow: Clean filter screen, sponge, and impeller.
- Pump hums but doesn't push water: Clean filter screen, sponge, and impeller. Remove water chamber cover, inspect and clean impeller assembly and internal pump body. Ensure nothing is blocking or wrapped around the impeller. Verify the pump is receiving correct voltage.
- Pump not working: Check if the Residual Current Device (RCD) has tripped. Verify the pump is receiving correct voltage.
