Prepare the Remote Control
Before proceeding with the firmware writing process, ensure your remote control is turned off. Connect the remote control to your computer using the supplied USB-C (Type-C) cable. Once connected, the device should appear in your computer's device manager. Look for an entry named "STM32 BOOTLOADER" typically listed under "Universal Serial Bus devices" or "Software devices".
Textual description of device manager: The device manager shows a list of hardware categories. Under 'System devices' or 'Universal Serial Bus controllers', a device named 'STM32 BOOTLOADER' is listed.
-
Replace STM32 BOOTLOADER Driver
For the EdgeTX Companion software to correctly recognize your hardware and write the firmware, you may need to replace the default STM32 BOOTLOADER driver. Follow these steps using the Zadig software:
- Open the Zadig application.
- Navigate to the "Options" menu and select "List All Devices". This action will display all connected USB devices.
- From the drop-down list of devices, locate and select "STM32 BOOTLOADER".
- Click the "Replace Driver" button. If a driver is already installed, this button might appear as "Reinstall Driver".
After the driver installation or replacement is successfully completed, EdgeTX Companion will be able to properly communicate with your remote control for firmware writing.
Textual description of Zadig interface: The Zadig application window displays a menu bar (Device, Options, Help). A dropdown list shows detected USB devices, including "STM32 BOOTLOADER". Buttons like "Replace Driver" and "Edit" are visible. The status indicates "6 devices found."

Write Firmware in EdgeTX Companion
With the driver correctly installed and the remote connected, you can now use EdgeTX Companion to write the firmware.
Textual description of EdgeTX Companion interface: The EdgeTX Companion window shows the version (e.g., 2.10.0) and the connected radio model (e.g., Radiomaster TX16S / SE / Hall / Masterfire). The main menu includes "File", "Edit", "Settings", "Read/Write", "Window", and "Help". An arrow points to the "Read/Write" menu option, indicating the starting point for firmware operations.
