GENERAL INFORMATION This guide explains the essential steps for registering and configuring a weather station on the "AWEKAS" online platform (Automatic Weather Map System). It also explains the configuration parameters required for connecting with a Bresser weather station. "AWEKAS" is an open Internet platform operated by Awekas GmbH and is not part of the warranty and service obligations of Bresser GmbH. Bresser GmbH has no influence on any changes to the Internet platform. For any questions about "AWEKAS", please refer to the provider's website at www.awekas.at Bresser GmbH declares that the purchased weather station is generally suitable for use with the weather data system "AWEKAS". The decision to use "AWEKAS" rests solely with the user, and Bresser GmbH assumes no liability for any kind of damage to the weather station, its accessories, or connected third-party devices arising from the use of "AWEKAS". - 3- 2. REGISTRATION WITH "AWEKAS" GENERAL NOTE: For certain input fields in the subsequent entry forms, you will see the symbol (Fig. 1, 6). When you click on this symbol, you will see a more detailed explanation of the required input. 2.1 ENTERING USER DATA 1. Enter https://join.awekas.at in the address bar of your web browser. The "Create account" page of the weather data system "AWEKAS" appears (multilingual website, language selectable). Fig. 1 NOTE: If you have already created an account, go straight to Chapter 3 (Entering the connection data for the weather station)! To create a new user account, continue with the following section. 2. Answer the security question (math problem) and enter the result in the solution field (Fig. 1, 9). 3. Enter a user name (Fig. 1, 1) and a password (Fig. 1, 2). Enter a valid email address (Fig. 1, 3) and check the box (Fig. 1, 4) if your email address may be published. Select your preferred menu language (Fig. 1,5) and the desired temperature unit (°C or °F) (Fig. 1, 8 NOTE: If any fields are incorrectly filled out or required information is missing, this will always be indicated at the bottom of the entry form (Fig. 1, 7). The checksum (Fig. 1, 9) for the security question can be entered now or at a later stage. 3. When all entries have been completed correctly, all fields will turn green, and the "Location" entry form (Fig. 2) will automatically expand. - 4- EN 2.2 SETTING UP THE LOCATION 1. Enter a "station location" there. NOTE: If the station location is already in use, this will be indicated. Then choose a different name. You can use up to 20 alphanumeric characters as well as hyphens. Fig. 2 2. Enter the geographical altitude of your weather station location in the window (Fig. 2, 11) and choose the preferred unit of measurement (m or ft) (Fig. 2, 12). NOTE: If you do not know the geographical altitude of your location, you can find it out on the Internet (e.g. at https://www.koordinaten-umrechner.de/ hoehenmesser, https://www.mapcoordinates.net). 3. In the search field of the map (Fig. 2, 14) enter the name of your location and position the red marker (fig. 2, 15) precisely over your location on the map. NOTE: Entering your location in the search field makes it easier to determine the location. As a rule, locations will be suggested to you in the list as you type. Click on a suitable location to select it. You can zoom in (+) or zoom out (-) on the map view. Hold down the left mouse button and move your cursor over the map to shift the map section within the window. 4. The coordinates (latitude and longitude) (Fig. 2, 13) of your location are automatically determined based on the location information. 5. When all entries have been completed correctly, all fields will turn green, and the "Weather Station" entry form (Fig. 3) will automatically expand. - 5- 2.3 SETTING UP THE WEATHER STATION 1. In the "Weather Station" entry form, select the type of weather station from the drop-down list (Fig. 3+3a, 16). NOTE: You can use the search field (Fig. 3, 17) to directly enter the name of your weather station and narrow down the list selection. If your weather station is not listed, it may not be suitable for operation with "AWEKAS" or may not yet be stored in the system. Please contact AWEKAS support for this. Fig. 3 Fig. 3a 2. After selecting the weather station, the required settings will be configured automatically by the system. You can customise these settings for displaying weather data. To do this, click on the respective toggle switches (Fig. 3, 18) to activate or deactivate the display on "AWEKAS" (green = active, red = inactive). 3. Further adjustments can also be made (Fig. 3, 19-22). If you do not have any information about necessary adjustments, do not change the default settings! 4. When all entries have been completed correctly, all fields will turn green and the "Information" entry form (Fig. 4) will automatically expand. - 6- EN 2.4 INFORMATION ON MONITORING 1. In the "Information" entry form, select the desired setting from the drop-down list (Fig. 4, 23) that indicates when/if you would like to be notified via email about status failures. NOTE: The remaining fields are optional. If you have your own website and/ or webcam associated with your weather station, you can provide this information. Fig. 4 2. Once you have made the desired entries, click on the "Additional" bar (Fig. 4, 24) to expand the corresponding entry form (Fig. 5). 2.5 "AWEKAS PLUS" & COMPLETION OF REGISTRATION 1. If you wish to use the free "AWEKAS Plus" service, click [Yes] in the "Additional" entry form (Fig. 5, 25). Fig. 5 2. Check the box "Yes" (Fig.5, 26) to agree to the data protection regulations. 3. Ensure that all settings and entries in the previous entry forms are correct. 4. Finally, click [Save]" (Fig. 5, 27) to confirm your entries and complete the creation of your user account 5. After completing your entries, you will receive an email from "AWEKAS." Confirm your registration by clicking on the link in the email and entering your username and the provided activation code on the corresponding page. This confirms the accuracy of your email address, and the registration is complete. You can now log in to "AWEKAS" using your login credentials. (see also chapter 4) - 7- 3. ENTERING THE CONNECTION DATA FOR THE WEATHER STATION 1. Go to the settings of your weather station. NOTE: The settings view and the type of connection may vary from one weather station to another due to technical differences. We have chosen an exemplary, simplified view that is limited to the essential input fields. In some cases, a direct connection via WiFi and/or the use of a separate app may also be required. For more detailed information, refer to the instruction manual of the weather station. Fig. 6 Weather server setup URL: Station ID: Station key: Save 2. In the settings area, enter the web address ws.awekas.at in the "URL" field (Fig. 6, 28). 3. Enter the username you created during registration (Fig. 1, 1) in the "Station ID" field (Fig. 6, 29). 4. Enter the password you created during registration (Fig. 1, 2) in the "Station Key" field (Fig. 6, 30). 5. Click [Save] (Fig. 6, 31) to save the entries and exit the settings area. - 8- EN 4. PORTAL LOGIN AND DISPLAY OF WEATHER DATA ON "AWEKAS" 1. After registering with "AWEKAS" and configuring the necessary settings on your weather station for the connection with "AWEKAS", please enter https:// my.awekas.at in the address bar of your web browser. You will be taken to the "Login" page of AWEKAS (Fig. 7). Fig. 7 2. Enter your user name (Fig. 7, 32) and the password you created (Fig. 7, 33) in the login window. 3. Enter the checksum for the security question in the corresponding field (Fig. 7, 34). Click on [Login] (Fig. 7, 35) to access your account settings. - 9- 5. VIEWING WEATHER DATA ON ,,AWEKAS" 1. After logging in, you will be directed to the page with the weather data of your weather station (Fig. 8). If this is not the case, select "My Awekas" in the main menu (Fig. 8, 36) and then the submenu item "My tation anel". Fig. 8 2. The readings of your weather station are displayed in the graphical representation of the instruments. The data is updated at the time interval specified in the weather station's settings. For further information, please read the operating instructions for your weather station. - 10- EN 3. You can also view weather data from other weather stations next to you. To do this, click on the link for the desired weather station in the left column "Nearest stations". NOTE: When switching to other pages within the portal, you may be asked to log in again. This is done for security reasons.
