Front Panel Features

The front panel of the Peavey PV 2.6 C features several controls and indicators:

  • (1) DDT™ ACTIVE LED INDICATOR: Illuminates when DDT™ compression is active, preventing clipping distortion. It functions as a clip indicator when the rear panel DDT™ ENABLE/DEFEAT switch is in the DEFEAT position. Occasional flashing is normal; continuous illumination indicates a need for more headroom or a more powerful amplifier.
  • (2) POWER LED INDICATOR: Illuminates when AC power is supplied to the amplifier.
  • (3) CIRCUIT BREAKER: A resettable breaker that limits current to the power transformer, protecting it from overheating and faults. It may trip due to short circuits, continuous overload, or clipping, especially into a 4-ohm load. To reset, turn the power switch off, then push the breaker button inward. Allow time to cool if it has tripped. If it trips repeatedly, contact a qualified service center.
  • (4) POWER SWITCH: Push to the "I" position to turn the amplifier on. The unit features automatic resetting thermal protection; it will shut down if operating temperatures become excessively high and will re-enable upon cooling. Repeated thermal cycling suggests a load problem or inadequate ventilation.

Back Panel Features

The back panel provides connections and controls:

  • (5) REMOVABLE LINE CORD (120 V products only): A three-wire grounded power cord is provided for safety. Do not remove the ground pin. Use grounding adaptors if necessary. Proper grounding reduces noise and shock hazard.
  • (6) SPEAKER OUTPUTS: Jacks for connecting external speakers. The minimum total impedance is 4 ohms.
  • (7) DDT™ COMPRESSION: This patented Peavey circuit automatically engages to prevent clipping distortion. It is defeated when the pushbutton is pressed "in". It is recommended to keep DDT™ enabled at all times to protect speakers.
  • (8) INPUT SENSITIVITY: Adjusts input gain. Maximum gain (minimum sensitivity) is at the full clockwise setting. Lower settings reduce noise but may reduce headroom. Calibration indicates the voltage/dBV required for full output.
  • (9) CHANNEL INPUTS: Standard 1/4" phone jacks supporting two modes:
    • a. STEREO Operation: Each jack serves as the input for its respective channel.
    • b. MONO Operation: Use the 'A' input jack, inserting the plug only to the first click/detent. This applies the signal equally to both channels.

Wiring Diagrams Description

The manual includes diagrams illustrating connection methods:

Stereo Operation

For stereo operation, both input plugs (A and B) are fully inserted into their respective jacks. Each input feeds an independent channel amplifier. The speaker outputs are wired in parallel, supporting a minimum load of 4 ohms per channel, delivering 130W RMS.

Mono Operation

For dual-channel mono operation, a single input plug is inserted into the 'A' channel input jack only up to the first click or detent. This configuration sends the same signal to both amplifier channels. The speaker outputs are wired in parallel, supporting a minimum load of 4 ohms per channel, delivering 130W RMS.

Important Safety Instructions

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electric products:

  • Read all safety and operating instructions before use and retain them for future reference.
  • Obey all cautions on the unit and in the operating instructions.
  • Do not use near water (bathtub, sink, pool, wet basement).
  • Locate the product to ensure proper ventilation; do not place flat against a wall or in a built-in enclosure that impedes airflow.
  • Keep away from heat sources like stoves or radiators.
  • Connect only to the specified power supply type.
  • Never break off the ground pin on the power supply cord.
  • Handle power supply cords carefully; avoid walking on them or placing equipment on them. Periodically check cords for damage.
  • Unplug the unit when unused for extended periods.
  • Provide rear support if mounting in an equipment rack.
  • Clean metal parts with a damp rag. Vinyl covering can be cleaned with a damp rag or ammonia-based cleaner. Disconnect power before cleaning.
  • Prevent objects from falling into or liquids from spilling into the unit through ventilation holes or openings.
  • Have the unit checked by a qualified service technician if the power cord/plug is damaged, something has fallen/spilled into the unit, the unit does not operate correctly, or the unit has been dropped/damaged.
  • Do not attempt to service the equipment yourself; all service work should be done by a qualified technician.
  • Use only with a recommended cart or stand.
  • Hearing Protection: Exposure to extremely high noise levels can cause permanent hearing loss. Follow OSHA permissible noise level exposures. Wear ear plugs or protectors when operating this system at high sound pressure levels.
