Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch HS220 Quick Start Guide
Product Overview and Installation Instructions
Product Introduction
The Kasa smart dimmer switch offers automatic control over your lights, dimming them as needed to save energy and reduce electricity costs.
Wiring Your Switch
Step 1: Power Off and Preparation
Turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Remove the old wall switch's wallplate and carefully label the Ground and Neutral wires.
Step 2: Disconnect Old Switch
Disconnect the wires from the existing switch.
Step 3: Identify Wires
Identify the Line and Load wires. With the circuit breaker ON, use a voltage detector to find the energized wire (Line wire). Exercise caution to avoid electric shock. Typically: Ground wires are green or copper. Neutral wires are usually white and not connected to the old switch. Line wires are typically black and originate from the circuit breaker. Load wires are usually black and connect to the light fixture. If uncertain, consult a qualified electrician. After identification, turn off the circuit breaker again and label the Line and Load wires.
Step 4: Connect Wires
Connect the wires to the Kasa smart dimmer switch: Ground to Ground, Neutral to Neutral, Line to Line, and Load to Load.
Step 5: Secure the Switch
Align the dimmer switch with the mounting holes and secure it with screws.
Step 6: Finalize Installation
Attach the wallplate and then turn the circuit breaker back on. Wiring is complete. Proceed to setup.
