Battery Operation

  1. Remove the battery cover on the rear by pushing the battery door in and downwards.
  2. Insert four LR14 (C size) batteries, ensuring correct polarity as shown inside the compartment. Replace the battery cover.
  3. Signs of low batteries include reduced power, distortion, and a 'stuttering' sound.
  4. Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period.

For economy, use the mains power whenever possible. Battery operation is recommended for occasional or stand-by use.

IMPORTANT: Do not expose batteries to excessive heat. Dispose of used disposable batteries at a suitable recycling centre. Do not incinerate batteries.

Mains Operation

  1. Place the radio on a flat surface.
  2. Plug the mains lead into the mains socket on the rear of the radio, ensuring it is fully inserted.
  3. Plug the other end of the mains lead into a wall socket and switch on the wall socket.

IMPORTANT: The mains plug is the primary means of disconnecting the radio from the mains supply. Ensure the mains socket remains accessible during normal use. To fully disconnect, remove the mains plug from the wall socket.

Operating your radio - FM

  1. Switch on the radio using the On/Off button.
  2. Press the FM button to select the FM waveband.
  3. Adjust the Volume control until a hissing sound is heard.
  4. Rotate the Tuning control to select the desired station. The FM tuning scale is marked in Megahertz (MHz).
  5. For best FM reception, fully extend the Telescopic aerial and adjust its angle and position.
  6. Adjust the Volume to the desired listening level.
  7. Adjust the Bass and Treble controls as required.
  8. To switch off the radio, press the On/Off button.

Operating your radio (Medium and Long wave)

  1. Switch on the radio using the On/Off button.
  2. Press either the MW or LW button to select the waveband.
  3. Adjust the Volume control until a hissing sound is heard.
  4. Rotate the Tuning control to select the desired station. The MW and LW tuning scales are marked in kilohertz (kHz).
  5. For best MW or LW reception, rotate the radio to achieve the strongest signal.
  6. Adjust the Volume to the desired listening level.
  7. Adjust the Bass and Treble controls as required. Rotating controls clockwise increases bass or treble.
  8. To switch off the radio, press the On/Off button.

Note: The telescopic aerial is not effective on MW and LW bands.

Troubleshooting: In case of malfunction due to electrostatic discharge, try turning the unit off and on. A more complete reset may be needed by removing all power sources (battery and mains) when the unit is turned off.

Headphones
