Getting Started

Note: Refer to your user's guide for information about cleaning your device.

Turn off computer's power before connecting the scanner, then power up the computer once the scanner is fully connected.

Power Supply Assembly (if included)

This section describes how to connect the power supply. The diagram shows a scanner connected to a computer via USB, with a power adapter plugged into the scanner and then into a wall outlet.

Connecting the Scanner USB

The diagram illustrates connecting the scanner to a computer using a USB cable. The scanner's USB port connects to the computer's USB port.

RS232 Serial Port

The diagram shows the scanner connected to a computer via an RS232 serial cable. The scanner's serial port connects to the computer's serial port, and a power adapter is also shown connected to the scanner and a power source.

Reading Techniques

The viewfinder projects an aiming beam that should be centered over the barcode, but it can be positioned in any direction for a good read.

Hold the scanner over the barcode and center the aiming beam on the barcode.

The aiming beam is smaller when the scanner is closer to the code and larger when it is farther from the code. Hold the scanner close to smaller barcodes, and farther away from large barcodes to get a proper read.

If the barcode is highly reflective (e.g., laminated), you may need to tilt the scanner at an angle so the barcode can be scanned.

Standard Product Defaults

The following barcode resets all standard product default settings.

Note: Default settings do not change product interface type. For example, keep USB interface without change after default setting.

Programming the Interface

The HH400 supports interface types of RS232 and USB HID. Change the cable and scan one of the following barcodes to program your interface.

(1) RS232 COM port

Scan the following barcode to program the interface to RS232 COM Port with an RS232 cable.

(2) USB Keyboard port

Scan the following barcode to program the interface to USB keyboard port with a USB cable.

Enter/Change Line Setting
