Installation Steps
- Turn the power on/off switch to the off position and disconnect the power cord from the power source.
- Remove the "cover-base trim" from the foot end of the table. Retain both the cover and hardware for reinstallation.
- Remove the hole plug from the foot end of the base and discard it.
- String the footswitch cable through the hole in the base (refer to Figure #1). Orientation of the cable: the 9-circuit cap should be to the inside of the base.
- Position the cable so that the outer jacket projects about 1"-2" inside the base and install the strain relief bushing, provided with the kit.
- Connect the nine (9) circuit cap of the footswitch cable to the plug of the base harness.
- Remove the #10-32 hex nut from the grounding stud. Connect the "green" ground lead of the footswitch cable to the grounding stud. Reinstall the #10-32 hex nut.
- Install the "cover-base trim" back onto the base, using the hardware removed in step #2.
- String the cable through the bracket-strain relief at the footswitch end (refer to Figure #3). Pay attention to the orientation of the bracket.
- Position the cable so that the outer jacket projects about 1/2" inside the bracket and install the strain relief bushing, provided with the kit.
- Using two (2) #10-24x3/8 taptite screws and two (2) #10 L-washers, provided with the kit, mount the strain relief bracket in the footswitch assembly (refer to Figure #3).
- Connect the wire leads of the footswitch to the footswitch cable leads at the connector joints. Refer to Figure #2 for specific wire connections at the footswitch.
- Mount the "wire cover", provided with the kit, to the footswitch using seven (7) #10-24x3/8 self-tapping screws, also provided with the kit (refer to Figure #3).
- Plug the power cord into the power source.
- Turn the on/off switch to the on position.
- Test the footswitch functions to verify proper operation of the table.
Diagram Descriptions
Figure #1: Base Connections
This figure illustrates the grounding stud located on the base of the table. It also shows the strain relief bushing being inserted into a hole in the base. A note indicates that the green wire from the footswitch cord should be inserted between the screw head and washer to ground the footswitch.
Figure #2: Wire Connections
This diagram details the wiring connections between the main harness connector (J9) and the remote footswitch. The J9 connector has terminals P9-1 through P9-9, along with a GREEN/YELLOW ground wire. The remote footswitch has multiple connectors for functions like LEG UP/DOWN, TILT UP/DOWN, BACK UP/DOWN, and TABLE UP/DOWN, each with terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4. The specific wire color to terminal mappings are as follows:
- P9-1 (RED) connects to TILT UP (terminal 1) and TILT DOWN (terminal 2).
- P9-2 (BLACK) connects to BACK UP (terminal 1) and BACK DOWN (terminal 2).
- P9-3 (WHITE) connects to LEG UP (terminal 1) and LEG DOWN (terminal 2).
- P9-4 (BLUE) connects to TABLE UP (terminal 1) and TABLE DOWN (terminal 2).
- P9-5 (GREEN) connects to TILT UP (terminal 3) and TILT DOWN (terminal 4). This wire is also connected to the grounding stud.
- P9-6 (BRN BLK) connects to BACK UP (terminal 2) and BACK DOWN (terminal 3).
- P9-7 (WHT/BLK) connects to LEG UP (terminal 2) and LEG DOWN (terminal 3).
- P9-8 (GRAY) connects to TABLE UP (terminal 2) and TABLE DOWN (terminal 3).
- P9-9 (VIOLET) connects to TILT UP (terminal 4) and TILT DOWN (terminal 3).
- The GREEN/YELLOW wire is connected to the grounding stud.
Figure #3: Footswitch Assembly
This figure shows the footswitch end of the installation. It depicts routing the cable through a bracket-strain relief and installing a strain relief bushing within the bracket. The strain relief bracket is then mounted to the footswitch using two #10-24x3/8 self-tapping screws and two #10 L-washers. Finally, a wire cover is attached to the footswitch using seven #10-24x3/8 self-tapping screws.
