Understanding LaCie NAS LED Indicators and Button Functions

General LED Behavior

This guide details the LED status indicators and button operations for LaCie NAS devices, helping users understand device status and perform essential functions.

General LED colors indicate the following states:

Color	State
Solid blue	Ready
Blinking blue	Startup; shutdown; activity
Blinking red and blue	RAID synchronization; software update
Blinking red	Warning
Solid red	Error

Front and Disk LED Details

Front and rear LEDs provide specific information on drive status and activity. Note that critical events triggering a red light will activate the front LED, even if it's configured to be off.

Front Button Functions

The front button on LaCie NAS devices serves multiple purposes:

Short Push

For the 5big NAS Pro, a short push of the on/off button powers the device off.

Long Push

A long push (over four seconds) on the 5big NAS Pro's on/off button forces an immediate shutdown, which may result in data loss and should be used only if a short push fails.

Factory Settings/Rescue

For the LaCie 2big NAS, the front LED button, in conjunction with the ON/OFF switch, can reset the device to factory settings.

For the LaCie 5big NAS Pro, the front LED button works with the rear reset button to initiate the LaCie NAS Rescue function.
