Introduction
The Lippert Insight™ Back-up Camera is a 12V camera that streams wireless video to a mobile device using the Lippert Connect application, providing a rear view of the trailer. Images in this document are for reference only; actual parts may differ.

Resources Required
- Ladder
- Mobile device
- #8 panhead screws of appropriate length
- Wire strippers (if needed)
- All-weather silicone sealant
Installation
- Locate a mounting area for the camera that allows electrical connection to the trailer's marker light circuit and provides a clear view of the rear area. Ensure at least 5 inches of the camera's antenna extend above the trailer's roof line.
- Prepare the trailer and camera:
- Wipe the mounting surface clean.
- With the antenna base up, rotate the camera downwards for viewing angle.
- Remove the protective film tape from the back of the camera. [See Fig. 2]
- Drill an approximately 1" diameter hole for the ground wire and power supply, then apply silicone sealant to the hole.
- Ensure trailer power is off. Connect the camera's red power wire and black ground wire:
- Connect the camera black wire to the unit ground wire.
- Connect the camera red wire to the marker light circuit.
Note: Use wire strippers if needed to expose bare wire for a good connection.
- Secure the camera with two OEM-supplied #8 pan head screws. [See Fig. 3]
- Apply all-weather silicone sealant around the camera perimeter and screw heads.
- Screw the antenna clockwise to the antenna base. [See Fig. 3]

Camera Setup (If applicable)
Note: Running lights must be ON for the back-up camera to function, as they provide power.
- Download and install the Lippert Connect app on an iOS or Android mobile device. Ensure Wi-Fi is turned on. [See Fig. 4]
- Launch the Lippert Connect app by tapping its icon. [See Fig. 5]
- Read and accept the License Agreement by tapping "Agree >>". [See Fig. 6]
- Begin connecting the app to the camera by tapping the '+' icon. [See Fig. 7]
- Select "Camera" from the list. [See Fig. 8]
- Choose "Scan with Camera". [See Fig. 9]
- Tap "Continue" to grant location permissions. [See Fig. 10]
- Tap "Continue" to grant camera permissions. [See Fig. 10]
- Scan the device label found on the bottom of the camera or on an OEM sticker. [See Fig. 11, Fig. 12]
- The ID field will auto-populate with the camera's SSID. The Password field will be blank. Tap "Connect >>". [See Fig. 13]
Note: Ensure your mobile device's Wi-Fi is on.
- "RV Connected Successfully" should appear. Tap "Continue >>". [See Fig. 14]
- Tap "Camera" to open the back-up camera view. [See Fig. 15]
- You will be prompted to update the password (8-20 characters). Enter a new password and tap "Update". [See Fig. 16]
Operation
Note: Running lights must be ON for the camera to function.
The Lippert Back-up Camera is adjustable for visibility.
- Using a ladder, access the camera's location on the back of the unit. [See Fig. 17]
- Rotate the camera up or down for the desired view. [See Fig. 18]
- In full view, use a pinch-to-zoom gesture with your thumb and index finger to adjust the main viewing area. [See Fig. 19]
- While zoomed in, a small full-view window appears in the lower right corner.
- Use your index finger to move around the zoomed-in view.
- Double-tap the small window to return to the full camera view. [See Fig. 20]
- The gear icon [gear icon] allows viewing or changing the password. [See Fig. 19]
- Input a new password and tap "Update" [update button]. [See Fig. 21]
- "UNPAIR" [unpair button] removes the camera connection from the Lippert Connect app. [See Fig. 21]
Troubleshooting
What is happening? | Why? | What should be done? |
---|---|---|
Mobile device does not connect to camera. | Camera not powered up. Wi-Fi not turned on. SSID is not correct. | Turn battery disconnect on. Connect to shore power. Connect 7-way to tow vehicle. Make sure Wi-Fi is active on mobile device. Check that the SSID in the ID field matches the sticker SSID. |
Camera not powering up | Running lights are OFF. Another mobile device is connected to the camera. | Ensure running lights are ON. Power down or restart other connected mobile devices. |
Camera is displaying a blank screen after connection. | Cycle power to unit. Not connected to Wi-Fi. Mobile device disconnected from camera Wi-Fi due to lack of Internet connection. | Remove power from camera for 2 minutes (cycle battery disconnect, shore power, and 7-way connector). Check Wi-Fi connections on mobile device. Connect to Wi-Fi network (no password needed). Select "continue to use network" or "keep network and use mobile data" if prompted. |

Camera Reset
If the password is forgotten, lost, or unknown, perform the following reset procedure to return the camera to factory installation state:
- Press the reset button [reset button] on the bottom of the camera for 15 seconds. [See Fig. 22] Note: Four red LEDs [LEDs] should light up briefly during reset. [See Fig. 23]
- Disconnect all power from the trailer for 2 minutes:
- Turn off battery disconnect.
- Disconnect shore power.
- Disconnect the 7-way connection from the tow vehicle.
- After 2 minutes, restore power and open the Lippert Connect app, then select "Camera". [See Fig. 15]
- When prompted, create a new password. [See Fig. 16]
