1. Introduction

1.2 Introduction to the Main Unit Parts
The PLAUD NOTE has the following parts:
- Indicator Lamp
- Recording Mode Switching Switch
- Recording Button
- Charging Port
1.3 Indicator Light
The recording indicator light is always on during recording.

1.4 Charging the PLAUD NOTE
- Connect the charging cable to the PLAUD NOTE's charging port.
- Connect the other end of the cable to a power source. Use a power adapter rated for "DC-5V" and at least 0.5A.
- Charge until the LED indicator turns green.
Note: Always use the dedicated charging cable when charging the PLAUD NOTE. Charging via PC is not recommended.
1.5 Downloading the PLAUD App
- Access the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Search for "PLAUD".
- Download and install the app on your smartphone or tablet.
You can download it from this link: https://jp.plaud.ai/pages/plaud-note-app-download. After downloading the app, enable Bluetooth access for the PLAUD app in your smartphone's settings. This will allow you to connect the PLAUD NOTE to the app later.
The app automatically detects the language based on your smartphone's settings. Supported languages include English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The app requires Android 6 or iOS 12 or later.
Next, register your account and log in to the PLAUD app:
- Open the PLAUD app on your smartphone.
- Tap "New Registration".
- Enter your email address, get the verification code, and create and confirm a password of 6-16 characters.
Log in from the initial page. If you do not receive the verification code, please check the following steps:
- Check your spam or junk mail folder.
- If you still don't receive the verification code, try a different email address.
- If the problem persists, contact support-jp@plaud.ai, and the support team will assist you.
1.6 Activating the PLAUD NOTE
- Press the recording button briefly to turn on the PLAUD NOTE. The white light will flash, indicating that the PLAUD NOTE is ready to connect to the PLAUD app.
- Tap "Connect" in the upper left of the app to search for your PLAUD NOTE. Find the PLAUD NOTE you want to connect to and tap "Connect".
The PLAUD NOTE connection is complete. You can also link multiple PLAUD NOTE devices to the same account. Navigate to the "My" page and check your devices under "My PLAUD NOTE".
2. PLAUD NOTE Device
2.1 How to Start Recording
The PLAUD NOTE records independently of your smartphone. You do not need to reconnect the PLAUD NOTE to the app for each recording. Use the round button on the front of the PLAUD NOTE to start and stop recording. Once recording starts, it will not be interrupted until you manually stop it or the storage capacity is full. After recording your meeting or lecture, connect the PLAUD NOTE to the PLAUD app to automatically sync and save the recordings.
- Switch the recording mode switch up or down to start note recording or call recording. The PLAUD NOTE can be used in various scenarios such as meetings, lectures, interviews, voice memos, and phone calls.
- Press and hold the recording button for 1 second, feeling one vibration, to start recording.
- Press and hold the recording button for 1 second, feeling two vibrations, to stop recording.
- Alternatively, open the app and tap the recording button to start recording (ensure the PLAUD NOTE is connected to the app).
Tips for clearer, higher-quality audio:
1) For Call Recording:
The PLAUD NOTE does not support recording calls using AirPods or other earphones. This is because the vibration conduction sensor needs to pick up sound directly from the smartphone's speaker. To ensure clear recording of the speaker's voice during calls, follow these steps:
- Increase your smartphone's earpiece volume.
- Adjust the VCS gain in the app. This refers to the sensitivity of audio capture in call recording mode. VCS gain enhances sensitivity to vibrations, improving voice clarity during calls. The higher the gain, the louder the other party's voice will be recorded. Adjust the setting according to your smartphone's volume settings and the other party's voice. The V.C.S. gain setting has three modes: "Low", "Medium", and "High". Adjust the parameters on the V.C.S. gain page as needed.
2) For Note Recording:
- Ensure you are in note recording mode.
- Adjust the microphone gain. Navigate to "My PLAUD NOTE" on the "My" page and check if the "Microphone Gain" is set to a low value. The default value is 24. A higher number results in a louder recording volume.
- If the gain is set to 24 or higher and the recording volume is still low, try bringing the recording device closer to your mouth. If the problem persists, please contact support.
2.2 How to Sync Recordings to the PLAUD App
Once recording is finished, open the app and connect to your PLAUD NOTE. The recording files will be automatically transferred to the app. After the file transfer is complete, recordings on the PLAUD NOTE will be automatically deleted. The PLAUD NOTE features a high-speed Wi-Fi transfer function that utilizes your smartphone's Wi-Fi capabilities for rapid data transfer. To use this feature:
- Start Transfer: When your smartphone connects to the PLAUD NOTE, a prompt will appear on the top right of the screen. Tap this prompt to initiate the process.
- Switch to Wi-Fi Connection: The app will guide you to switch from Bluetooth connection to Wi-Fi connection. Follow the on-screen instructions and stay in the app until the transfer is complete.
- Automatic Return to Bluetooth: Once the transfer is complete, the app will automatically return to Bluetooth connection mode and display the home screen.
2.3 PLAUD NOTE Tracking
Currently, the PLAUD NOTE does not support GPS tracking functionality.
2.4 Recording Indicator Light Status
The PLAUD NOTE's recording indicator light is always on during recording. This light serves as a visual indicator to clearly show others that recording is in progress.
2.5 Serial (SN) Number Location
The serial number is a unique identifier used to identify and distinguish devices. It is typically used for product management, device maintenance, and warranty services. The serial number (SN) of your PLAUD NOTE is located in the following places:
- It is printed on the label on the back of the box that the PLAUD NOTE main unit came in.
- It is displayed when you open the PLAUD app and navigate to the "My PLAUD NOTE" page.
The PLAUD NOTE is connected to a PC, and the "MODEL" text document will display it.
2.6 How to Temporarily Pause Recording
You can temporarily pause recording by tapping the button within the PLAUD app. Pausing recording by pressing the recording button on the PLAUD NOTE is not supported.
2.7 How to Shut Down the PLAUD NOTE
The PLAUD NOTE automatically enters standby mode after a period of inactivity. The maximum standby time is 60 days. By enabling "Automatic Idle Shutdown", you can extend the PLAUD NOTE's standby time and maintain its readiness for recording. Even after shutdown, you can start recording with a single long press. Here are the steps to set the "Automatic Idle Shutdown" time in the app:
- Navigate to the "My" page in the app.
- Select "My PLAUD NOTE" - "View Details".
- Tap "Automatic Idle Shutdown" and select the desired time.
- Alternatively, you can tap "Instant Shutdown" to directly turn off the device's power.
2.8 Necessity of Smartphone During Recording
This depends on the usage scenario. For note recording modes like meetings, lectures, and interviews, the PLAUD NOTE does not require a smartphone. However, for call recording mode, ensure the PLAUD NOTE is securely attached to your smartphone.
2.9 Using Headphones/Earphones During Call Recording
The PLAUD NOTE's call recording mode uses the Vibration Conduction Sensor (V.C.S.) to capture both sides of the conversation. Therefore, you cannot use headphones during call recording.
2.10 How to Disconnect from PLAUD
- Navigate to the "My" page in the app.
- Access "My PLAUD NOTE" → "View Details".
- Scroll down the screen and tap "Disconnect".
"Disconnect" means to release the Bluetooth connection between the PLAUD app and the PLAUD NOTE. However, the PLAUD NOTE remains linked to the account and cannot be linked to another account. "Unbinding", on the other hand, resets all settings and unlinks the device from the account.
2.11 Maximum Recording Range
In call recording mode, the PLAUD NOTE must be securely attached to the back of your smartphone. In note recording mode, the optimal recording range is 1-3 meters, with a maximum range of 1-7 meters, based on a standard human voice (75dB).
2.12 Automatic Deletion of Files on PLAUD NOTE
Files on the PLAUD NOTE are automatically deleted after connecting to the app to free up space for new recordings. If you wish to transfer files to your computer, you can export them through the PLAUD app. If you want to access recording files directly from your computer, you can log in to PLAUD WEB with your existing PLAUD account to seamlessly access transcriptions and summaries anytime, anywhere from your PC or other devices. Don't forget to enable the "Private Cloud Sync" option in the PLAUD app.
3. PLAUD App
3.1 How to Generate Transcriptions and Summaries
After the file is successfully synced to the app, tap the audio file to start transcription. Once the transcription is complete, summaries and mind maps will be automatically generated.
3.2 How to Manage Files (Recordings, Transcriptions, Summaries, Mind Maps)
After transcription, you can edit the file name or move files to a customized folder. If you are not satisfied with the transcription or summary, you can re-transcribe or re-summarize.
Note: Re-transcription will deduct from your transcription time. You can also manually edit transcriptions or summaries by tapping the "Edit" button.
Additionally, with Backer / Pro / Unlimited plans, you can use the "Ask AI" feature to quickly access information and perform various operations to improve work efficiency.
3.3 How to Share and Export Files (Recordings, Transcriptions, Summaries, Mind Maps)
If you want to share files with others, simply share a link. The link will expire after 7 days. When exporting audio, transcriptions, summaries, or mind maps, you can choose from the following formats:

3.4 How to Manage Multiple Files
To categorize your files, you can create different folders and move files into them.
- Create a folder and name it.
Slide files to the left to select them and move them into one of the folders.
Additionally, to quickly find specific files among multiple files, you can search by date range, file location, and transcription status.
3.5 How to Unlink PLAUD Account and PLAUD NOTE
- Navigate to the "My" page in the app.
- Access "My PLAUD NOTE" → "View Details".
- Scroll to the end of the screen.
- Tap "Unlink PLAUD NOTE and delete data" to unlink.
Note: Unlinking will reset all settings to their default values and remove the account linkage. The account linkage will be removed.
3.6 Can I unlink the device even if I don't have it with me?
How to unlink a PLAUD device from your account (no app connection required):
- Open the "My" page in the app.
- Select "My PLAUD Devices" → "View Details".
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
- Select "Unlink" → "Unlink PLAUD Note (Pin) and delete data".
3.7 How to Log In If You Forgot Your Password
- On the login page, tap "Forgot Password".
- Enter your email address to obtain the verification code.
- After entering the new password and completing the reset, you will be able to log in with the new password.
3.8 How to Change Your Password
- Navigate to the "My" page in the PLAUD app.
- Go to the "Account and Profile" page.
- Tap "Change Password".
- Enter your old password and the new password.
- Confirm the new password.
3.9 How to Add More Transcription Time When Insufficient
If you have used up your monthly transcription time, you will need to wait until the next reset period. However, you can also consider purchasing additional transcription packages. Here's how to purchase a "Transcription Package":
- Navigate to the "My" page.
- Tap "PLAUD AI Membership".
- Scroll down to "Transcription Package" and select a plan that suits your needs.
3.10 Regarding Changing the Email Address Registered in the PLAUD App
Currently, you cannot change the email address associated with your registered account. Please note that the AI membership assigned to the account cannot be transferred. If you need to transfer your account for any reason, please wait until the AI membership associated with that account expires. We recommend unlinking the PLAUD NOTE after the expiration date.
3.11 How to Delete Your PLAUD Account
If you encounter any problems or issues, please contact us before deleting your account. Our support team will assist you in resolving the problem and ensuring smooth product usage.

Deleting your account will permanently erase all personal data associated with that account. This includes recorded files stored in the cloud; once deleted, they cannot be restored. Furthermore, deleted accounts cannot be recovered, so you will need to re-register to use the app in the future.
If you still wish to delete your account, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to the "My" page in the app and select "My PLAUD NOTE" - "View Details".
- Scroll to the end of the page and tap "Unlink PLAUD NOTE and delete data" to unlink the PLAUD NOTE from your account.
- Then, return to the "My" page of the PLAUD app.
- Navigate to the "Account and Profile" page.
- Scroll to the end of the screen.
- Tap "Delete Account".
3.12 How to Change the Bluetooth Name of PLAUD NOTE
You can change the Bluetooth name of your PLAUD NOTE for easier recognition. Here are the steps to change the Bluetooth name of your PLAUD NOTE:
- Navigate to the "My" page in the app.
- Access "My PLAUD NOTE" → "View Details".
- Go to "Shared".
- Tap "Name" to change the Bluetooth name of your PLAUD NOTE.
3.13 How to Update the PLAUD App
- For iPhone users: Open the App Store on your device, tap the profile icon in the upper right corner, scroll down to find the PLAUD app, and then tap the "Update" button next to it.
- For Android users: Open the Google Play Store on your device, tap the profile icon in the upper right corner, select "Manage apps & device". Find the PLAUD app under the "Updates available" section, and tap the "Update" button if available.
Note: Uninstalling and then downloading the latest version of the PLAUD app is not recommended. If PLAUD CLOUD is not active, your recordings may be deleted. Please be aware of this.
3.14 How to Enable Bluetooth Permissions for the PLAUD App
Open your smartphone's "Settings", find and tap "PLAUD", and turn on "Bluetooth".
3.15 How to Reset App Language
- For iOS users: Navigate to your smartphone's "Settings", find and tap the "PLAUD" app, tap "Language", and switch languages.
- For Android users: The PLAUD app's language follows your smartphone's system language. By changing your smartphone's language settings, the PLAUD app's language will adjust accordingly.
4. PLAUD WEB
If you prefer operating on a larger screen or need to process data in a more complex manner, you can log in to PLAUD WEB: https://app.plaud.ai using your email address and password, which are the same as used for logging into the PLAUD app on your smartphone.
First, ensure that PLAUD CLOUD is enabled in the PLAUD app. Once enabled, your files will sync to PLAUD WEB, allowing you to access them from any device.
"PLAUD APP Storage Optimization" Feature: Enabling this feature prevents the PLAUD APP from automatically downloading audio files, thus saving your smartphone's storage. After files are synced to PLAUD CLOUD, you can clear the PLAUD app's storage to free up space on your smartphone.
5. PLAUD AI
5.1 Enhanced AI Features
- Transcription: Save time on recording tasks for meetings, calls, and lectures by transcribing them word-for-word.
- Speaker Identification: Clearly distinguish between speakers' utterances, providing more organized transcriptions.
- AI Summary: Automatically generate summaries based on transcribed audio, saving time on summarization tasks.
- Multiple AI Summary Themes: Offers various summary templates for meetings, lectures, calls, and more, catering to your diverse needs.
- Customizable Templates: Customize summary prompts according to your needs to generate summaries that align with your specific requirements.
- Visualized Mind Maps: Generate mind maps from summaries to help you visually grasp key points.
5.2 PLAUD AI Membership
Upon activating your PLAUD NOTE, the default plan is the Starter Plan, which includes 300 minutes of free GPT-4o transcription and summarization per month. If you require more transcription time, you can upgrade to the Pro Plan, which offers 1200 minutes of transcription per month. Additionally, the Pro Plan includes more summary templates, speaker identification, custom templates, and other features for an enhanced AI experience.
To sign up for the Pro Plan:
- Navigate to the "My" page in the app.
- Tap "PLAUD AI Membership".
- Scroll through and select your desired annual or monthly plan.
Both annual and monthly Pro plans include 1200 minutes of transcription per month. If your transcription needs exceed 1200 minutes, you can purchase additional transcription packages.
To purchase a transcription package:
- Navigate to the "My" page in the app.
- Tap "PLAUD AI Membership".
- Scroll down and select the transcription package that best suits your needs.
5.3 About PLAUD AI Pro Plan
We currently offer a free Starter Plan with 300 minutes of transcription. If you wish to experience more transcription time and additional features, we recommend upgrading to the Pro Plan, which includes 1200 minutes of transcription. Please note that purchasing two annual Pro plans does not double your monthly transcription minutes. Purchasing two annual Pro plans provides a total of 1200 minutes of transcription per month for 24 months.
5.4 PLAUD AI Pro Plan Account Transfer
Once an AI membership is activated, it cannot be transferred to another account.
5.5 Priority of Various PLAUD AI Memberships
Priority for PLAUD AI Memberships: Pro Plan > Backer Plan > Starter Plan. Users can only have one active AI membership at a time. The membership works as follows:
- Switching Memberships: If you currently have a Backer Plan and activate a Pro Plan, your membership will automatically upgrade to the higher priority Pro Plan. Your Backer Plan will be "paused" and will automatically reactivate after the Pro Plan expires.
- Expiration of Higher Priority Plan: When the Pro Plan expires, if you do not renew your subscription, it will automatically transition to the Backer Plan (if available) or the Starter Plan (if a Backer Plan is not available). We recommend purchasing a new AI membership before the next reset date.
5.6 How to Redeem Activation Code
If you have received an activation code and wish to redeem it through the PLAUD app, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the "My" page.
- Tap "PLAUD AI Membership".
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
- Tap "Activate" and enter the activation code.
6. PLAUD CLOUD
6.1 PLAUD CLOUD Usage Fees
PLAUD CLOUD is completely free. For the first 3 years, it offers up to 10,000 minutes of free cloud storage. If you anticipate exceeding the 10,000-minute limit, you can download your files and save them to another private cloud. You will also receive a notification when you approach the storage limit.
6.2 About PLAUD CLOUD
PLAUD CLOUD is cloud storage provided by Google Cloud. You can choose whether to upload your recordings or summary files to PLAUD CLOUD, which helps save your device's internal storage space. When PLAUD CLOUD is turned on, it automatically uploads files to PLAUD CLOUD upon network connection and deletes them from the PLAUD NOTE hardware to save device storage. Deleting files from the PLAUD app also deletes them from the cloud.
7. Policies and Warranty
7.1. Shipping Policy
We offer free worldwide shipping. Details are as follows:
- Processing Time: Orders are confirmed and shipped within 1-2 business days.
- Delivery Time: After the order is shipped, delivery typically takes 1-3 business days.
- Order Tracking: If you placed your order through the official website, log in to https://jp.plaud.ai using the email address registered at the time of purchase and tap "Order Details" to check the status. Alternatively, go to "Support" in the menu, click "Check Shipping Status", and enter your order number, email address, or tracking number. For further assistance, please contact support-jp@plaud.ai.
We do not process shipments on weekends or holidays. During periods of high order volume, there may be slight delays in delivery, which will be communicated via email. Especially in cases of severe weather, please allow a few extra days.
If there is no update on shipping information within approximately 3 business days of shipment, please contact support-jp@plaud.ai, and our support team will respond promptly.
7.2 Returns and Refunds Policy
If you are not satisfied with your product, you may return it within 30 days of receipt, even if opened or used, provided you cover the return shipping and bank transfer fees. Full refunds will be issued at our discretion. Returns for customer convenience after 31 days from receipt will not be accepted for any reason. In cases of damaged products, initial defects, or if you received an incorrect item, you can exchange it or receive a full refund within 7 days of receipt. Please contact support-jp@plaud.ai for after-sales service.
For annual memberships and transcription packages, if you purchased them from plaud.ai and they are unused or unactivated, you are eligible for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. To request a refund, please contact support-jp@plaud.ai with your order details. Refunds will be processed within 5-10 business days after approval. Activated or used products are not eligible for refunds.
7.3 Product Warranty
Purchasers of the PLAUD NOTE AI Voice Recorder are entitled to a 12-month warranty from the date of the invoice (or longer if required by local laws or regulations). If a performance failure occurs under normal usage conditions during the warranty period, PLAUD.AI will provide free maintenance services. To receive warranty service, a valid device serial number (SN) and proof of purchase are required.
7.4 Privacy Policy
User privacy is of utmost importance. By default, recording data is stored only on the PLAUD NOTE and associated PLAUD app. During transcription and summarization, recordings may be uploaded to the server for processing. The entire transmission process is encrypted, and user information is anonymized. Neither we nor OpenAI use this data for model training.
