03 PC OVERVIEW
Processor with cooling system A CPU is a chip designed for computing. The core type, clock frequency, and cache size of the processor directly determine the class and performance of the computer. The processor is installed in the corresponding socket (Socket) and is covered by a heat sink with a fan (Cooler). For better cooling the processor crystal is covered with a special thermal material. With the help of special sensors, data on fan speed (RPM), processor temperature and other parameters are transmitted to the system.
Memory modules The RAM of a computer is the modules installed in special slots. The modules comply with the computer specification and chipset requirements. The correct operation of the memory is indicated by a test when the computer is turned on. Please note that the memory size in this test is displayed in thousands of kilobytes (1 KB-1024 bytes. 1 Mb-1,024 KB).
Video card The graphics card forms the image that is transmitted to the screen. The main parameters of the card are determined by the type of graphics processing unit (GPU) core, type and size of memory, availability of video inputs/outputs, video cards can be discrete, connected to the appropriate connectors on the motherboard, and embedded in the motherboard.
Network card, sound card These are used to extend the functionality of your computer. They are made on separate boards and installed in slots, or they are originally made on the motherboard.
Hard disk drive (HDD) A device for storing information. Hard disk capacity is measured in gigabytes (GB, Gb). Note that the capacity indicated on the hard disk drive itself may differ from the capacity displayed in the system. This is due to the fact that some hard disk manufacturers assume that one gigabyte equals one billion bytes. When the disk is formatted, 1 000 000 000/1024/1024/1024/1024=0.93GB (i.e. the capacity specified by the manufacturer may be less than the real capacity by 7%).
