CANVAS POWER USB

Thank you for trusting Walrus Audio to provide your pedals and modelers with clean, quiet, isolated power. The Canvas Power series is built using modern switch-mode supply architectures. This means each output is isolated, highly efficient, and heavily filtered, ensuring they supply plenty of power with incredibly low noise.

The Canvas Power USB allows your rig to be powered by most USB Power Delivery (PD) supplies like laptop chargers, high-power phone chargers, and even USB PD battery packs! With the Power USB, you can now take your rig to even more places. Imagine an outdoor festival this weekend, or a gig at a venue with limited power outlets next. With a USB PD battery pack, you've got a wireless rig!

GETTING STARTED

The Canvas Power USB works as a bridge that connects your existing Canvas Power unit (or other power supplies with a 24V EIAJ input) to a USB PD power source, such as a power brick or a USB PD battery pack.

  • Simply place the Power USB before your current power supply. Connect the Power USB's 24V Thru output to your main supply's 24V In using the included EIAJ cable.
  • Your pedals can now be powered by a USB PD supply, like the pictured battery pack, a 65W adapter (similar to one used for MacBooks), or your Walrus Audio Canvas Power brick.
  • If both USB-C and 24V input sources are connected, the Canvas Power USB will default to using the 24V source.

FEATURES

POWER IN

The Canvas Power USB accepts power from two sources: 24VDC via an EIAJ cable or a USB-C PD (Power Delivery) device. If both USB-C and 24V input sources are connected simultaneously, the Canvas Power USB will select the 24V source by default. A blue LED indicator above each input will illuminate, signifying that the DC or USB-C cable is plugged in and power is being supplied.

Note: Walrus Audio recommends connecting all of your pedals before powering on your power supply.

A diagram shows the 'POWER IN' section of the Canvas Power USB, highlighting the 24V IN (EIAJ) and USB PD ports, with labels for voltage and power status indicators.

POWER METER

When running from a USB-C PD power source, two power indication LEDs will illuminate: one at 50% (amber) and another at 100% (red) power levels.

VOLTAGE SELECTION

Before connecting your pedals, verify their voltage requirements and set the toggle switch accordingly to prevent damage. Once set, plug in the DC cable. A green LED above the output will light up, indicating the plug is correctly connected.

The variable output port's mA delivery depends on the toggle switch position:

  • 18V setting will deliver up to 250mA
  • 12V setting will deliver up to 375mA
  • 9V setting will deliver up to 500mA

NOTE: Most pedals draw less current than what is printed on their enclosure. It is safe to use the printed number as a reference when calculating your board's total power requirements.

A diagram illustrates the 'VOLTAGE SELECTION' toggle switch and the corresponding LED indicators on the Canvas Power USB unit.

24V THRU

With the 24V THRU output, you can utilize the included EIAJ Link cable to connect any Walrus Audio Canvas Power supply or other 24V devices.

  • Weight: 136g (0.3lbs)

To estimate the total power your pedalboard will need, calculate the power requirement for each pedal individually and then sum the results. Multiply a pedal's voltage requirement by its current draw to find its wattage: Voltage (V) x Current (A) = Power (W).

Example: The Walrus Audio Slö Reverb requires 9VDC and 100mA (0.1A) current draw. Therefore, its power consumption is 9VDC x 0.1A = 0.9 Watts.
