Schlage CO-993-MS Mortise Exit Device Installation Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Door

Prepare the door. Additional door preparation may be required. Consult the template.

Step 2: Remove Insulator Strip

If an insulator strip is present, carefully remove it.

Step 3: Install Sex Bolts

Install sex bolts to secure the device.

(Spanish: Instale los pernos de montaje de refuerzo en el dispositivo de seguridad.)

Step 4: Install Grommet

Install the grommet.

Note: Use the plate if there is a large cutout in the door.

Step 5: Install Device

Install the device per manufacturer instructions.

Important: For proper function, the cam must be in the down position.

Step 6: Install Spindle

Install the spindle into the assembly.

Step 7: Check Lever Handing

Check the lever handing.

Note: See "Rehanding" on page 6 if the pin is not toward the latch.

Step 8: Install Cylinder and Lever

Install the cylinder and lever.

8a. Verify Tailpiece Horizontal: Verify that the tailpiece is horizontal.

8b. Rotate Cam: Rotate the cam until it stops.

8b. Align: Align as shown.

8d. Rotate Key: Rotate the key 90 degrees.

Step 9: Install Outside Assembly

Install the outside assembly.

Step 10: Install Inside Assembly

Install the inside assembly.

Step 11: Install Cover and Screw

Install the cover and screw.

Step 12: Install Batteries

Install the batteries.

Step 13: Set Up Lock

Set up the lock. After installing the lock, see the user guide for setup and operation.

Rehanding (Cambio de lado / Déplacement)

a. Remove USB plug: Remove the USB plug.

(Spanish: Retíralo del enchufe USB.)

b. Remove cover from baseplate: Remove the cover from the baseplate.

(Spanish: Quite la cubierta de la placa base.)

c. Remove spring cage: Remove the spring cage.

(French: Retirez la cage à ressorts.)

d. Move lever stop: Move the lever stop to the opposite side. Align the arrow with the latch.

e. Reinstall springcage: Reinstall the spring cage. IMPORTANT: Verify that the correct size screw is used.

f. Reassemble cover and baseplate: Reassemble the cover and baseplate. IMPORTANT: Do not pinch the ribbon cable during reassembly.
