Yaesu SP-102 External Speaker
The Yaesu SP-102 is a high-fidelity audio transducer designed for amateur and general communications modes, broadcast listening, and music. It features manual frequency tailoring with independently adjustable low-cut and high-cut filters, offering twelve audio response configurations selectable from the front panel.
Filter Operation
The SP-102 allows operators to match audio response to listening conditions and modes using its filter controls. The low-cut filter has two positions plus 'NORM', and the high-cut filter has three positions plus 'NORM'.
- AM, FM: For wideband modes, set both filters to 'NORM' for maximum bandwidth and fidelity. Adjust filters as needed to mitigate interference or noise.
- SSB: For natural sounding SSB reception, set the LOW selector to 'NORM' and the HIGH selector to position 1. Adjustments may be beneficial under crowded band conditions or high noise levels.
- CW: For narrow mode CW reception, set the LOW selector to position 2 and the HIGH selector to position 3. This creates a narrow audio response centered around 600-700 Hz, useful for receivers without narrow IF filters or for reducing internal receiver noise.
