Charging a Battery Installed in a Vehicle:

- For negative-grounded vehicles: Connect POSITIVE (RED) clamp to POSITIVE battery post. Connect NEGATIVE (BLACK) clamp to vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery.
- For positive-grounded vehicles: Connect NEGATIVE (BLACK) clamp to NEGATIVE battery post. Connect POSITIVE (RED) clamp to vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery.
- Connect to a heavy gauge metal part of the frame or engine block.
- Refer to operating instructions for charging time.
- When disconnecting: disconnect AC power, then remove NEGATIVE clamp, then POSITIVE clamp.
Charging a Battery Removed from a Vehicle:
- Check battery post polarity.
- Attach a 24-inch (minimum) AWG #6 insulated battery cable to the Negative battery post.
- Connect the POSITIVE (RED) charger clamp to the POSITIVE battery post.
- Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) charger clamp to the free end of the battery cable connected to the negative terminal.
- Stand back from the battery and do not face it when making the final connection.
- When disconnecting: disconnect AC power, then remove NEGATIVE clamp, then POSITIVE clamp.
Operating Instructions
Charging Using Battery Clips:
- Ensure the charger is unplugged and not connected to a battery.
- Connect the battery clips cable to the unit's Double Barrel Charger Connector.
- Connect the battery clips to the battery and position the unit as far away as possible.
- Plug the AC plug into a 120V 60Hz outlet. The Charging/Charged LED will flash green.
- If the Reverse Polarity LED lights, unplug, remove, and reconnect clamps properly.
- If the Charging/Charged LED does not light, check connections and AC outlet. If connections are good, the battery may be faulty.
- When the Charging/Charged LED lights solid, charging is complete.
- Disconnect in reverse order: unplug AC, remove clamp from chassis (if applicable), then remove clamp from battery.
Connecting and Charging with Terminal Rings:
- Ensure the charger is unplugged and not connected to a battery.
- Remove nuts from battery post connectors.
- Position the RED terminal ring on the POSITIVE battery post connector.
- Position the BLACK terminal ring on the NEGATIVE battery post connector. Replace nuts.
- Connect the Terminal Rings connector to the unit's Double Barrel Charger Connector.
- Plug the AC plug into a 120V 60Hz outlet. The Charging/Charged LED will flash green.
- If the Reverse Polarity LED lights, disconnect, remove, and reconnect terminal rings properly.
- If the Charging/Charged LED does not light, check connections and AC outlet. If connections are good, the battery may be faulty.
- When the Charging/Charged LED lights solid, charging is complete.
- Disconnect in reverse order: unplug AC, then remove terminal rings from battery posts.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning and Storage:
- Unplug the charger before cleaning or maintenance.
- Clean the unit casing and cords with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- Store the unit in a clean, dry, cool place.
- Coil cords loosely for storage; do not wrap tightly or crimp.
