- Store indoors in a dry, locked-up place, out of reach of children.
- Unplug the battery charger when not in use.
Specific Safety Instructions for Power Cords
- Do not abuse the cord. Never carry the appliance by the cord or yank it to disconnect from the receptacle. Keep the cord from heat, oil, and sharp edges. Pull by the plug rather than the cord when unplugging.
- Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should be provided on the circuits or outlets used.
- Extension Cords: Use of an improper extension cord can result in fire and electric shock. Ensure the extension cord is in good condition and heavy enough to carry the current. Refer to the table for recommended AWG sizes based on cord length and amperage.
- Power Cord Safety: This appliance has a polarized plug. It will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If it does not fit fully, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
Specific Safety Instructions for Battery Chargers

- Do not operate the battery charger near flammable liquids or in gaseous or explosive atmospheres.
- Do not operate if the unit has been dropped or damaged. Return it to the manufacturer for repair.
- WARNING - Burst Hazard: Do not use for charging dry-cell batteries. Use only for charging/boosting 12-volt LEAD-ACID batteries. Never attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
- WARNING - Risk of Explosive Gases: Batteries generate explosive gases during normal operation. Always read and follow instructions exactly. Review cautionary markings on products and engines. This equipment produces arcs or sparks; if used in a garage or enclosed area, the unit MUST be placed not less than 18 inches (46 cm) above the floor.
- WARNING - To Reduce the Risk of Fire: Do not operate near flammable materials, fumes, or gases. Do not expose to extreme heat or flames.
- CAUTION - To Reduce the Risk of Injury or Property Damage: This charger is not designed for every make, manufacturer, or model of engine. Use only with 12-volt systems. NEVER attempt to charge a frozen battery. Do not charge the battery while the engine is operating. Stay clear of fan blades, belts, pulleys, and other parts that can cause injury.
Specific Safety Instructions for Using the Unit in Wet Environments
The housing is rated IP67 (dust-proof and waterproof). However:
- Never submerge the unit in water deeper than 1 meter for longer than 30 minutes or in temperatures outside 41°F-104°F (5°C-40°C).
- Never submerge the unit if the AC or DC cord bushing (insulation) is not intact.
- Do not allow clamps to be exposed to the elements for long periods or submerge them.
First Aid
- SKIN: If battery acid contacts skin, rinse immediately with water, then wash thoroughly with soap and water. Seek medical attention if redness, pain, or irritation occurs.
- EYES: If battery acid contacts eyes, flush eyes immediately for at least 15 minutes and seek immediate medical attention.
Preparing to Charge
- Ensure the area around the battery is well-ventilated.
- Remove the battery from confined areas before charging.

Charging a Battery Installed in a Vehicle
WARNING: A spark near the battery may cause an explosion.
- Position AC and clamp cords to reduce risk of damage by moving parts.
- Stay clear of fan blades, belts, pulleys, and other moving parts.
- Check battery post polarity (Positive/POS/+ usually larger diameter than Negative/NEG/-).
- Determine which post is grounded to the chassis.
- For negative-grounded vehicles: Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clamp to the POSITIVE (un-grounded) battery post. Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clamp to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery (connect to heavy gauge metal part).
- For positive-grounded vehicles: Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clamp to the NEGATIVE (un-grounded) battery post. Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clamp to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery.
- Refer to operating instructions for charge duration.
- When disconnecting, disconnect AC power first, then remove the clamp from the chassis, and finally remove the clamp from the battery terminal.
Charging a Battery Removed from a Vehicle
WARNING: A spark near the battery may cause an explosion.
- Check battery post polarity.
- Attach a 24-inch (minimum length) AWG #6 insulated battery cable to the NEGATIVE battery post.
- Connect the POSITIVE (RED) battery clamp to the POSITIVE battery post.
- Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) charger clamp to the free end of the battery cable connected to the negative terminal. Stand as far back from the battery as possible and do not face the battery when making the final connection.

When disconnecting, do so in reverse sequence of connecting and break the first connection while as far away from the battery as practical.
Setting Up the Unit
Mounting the Battery Charger
The charger can be mounted on a flat surface using the mounting brackets.
CAUTION: Ensure all instructions are understood and followed. Disconnect the charger from power and battery before mounting. Do not hang anything additional on the charger.
- Position the unit on a flat wall surface near a functioning AC outlet. Ensure the surface is flat and free of obstruction.
- Use an 8/32-inch wood screw through each mounting bracket. Do not over-tighten.

To Mount the Unit Using the Magnetic Discs
The magnetic discs on the bottom allow positioning on any flat, secure metallic surface.
Using the Hanging Hook
The hanging hook can be used for convenient positioning.
CAUTION: Do not shake the charger or the surface it is attached to. Ensure the charger is securely hung or attached. Only use the hanging hook or magnetic discs for positioning. They are not intended to support additional weight.
Operating Instructions
WARNING: Always disconnect the AC plug from the outlet first before disconnecting the charger from the battery.
Ensure all instructions and precautions are understood and observed.
Charging Using the Supplied Battery Clips
- Ensure the battery charger is unplugged and not connected to a battery.
- Insert the double barrel tip of the battery clamp cable into the unit's Double Barrel Charger Connector.
- Connect the battery clamps to the battery and position the unit as far away from the battery as possible, following the "Preparing to Charge" section.
- Insert the AC plug into a standard 120-volt, 60Hz North American outlet. The Charging/Charged LED will flash green.
Notes: If the Reverse Polarity LED lights, unplug the charger, remove clamps, and reconnect properly. If the Charging/Charged LED does not light, check connections and AC outlet. If connections are good, the battery may be faulty.
When the Charging/Charged LED lights solid, charging is complete. Disconnect AC power first, then the chassis clamp, then the battery clamp.
Connecting and Charging with the Terminal Rings
Connecting:
- Remove nuts from battery post connectors.
- Position the RED terminal ring on the POSITIVE battery post connector bolt.
- Position the BLACK terminal ring on the NEGATIVE post connector; then replace the nuts.
IMPORTANT: If there are connection problems, contact Customer Service for assistance.
