Installation
The smart flood/freeze sensor is designed for indoor use only. Place the sensor near areas of potential leaks or water sources such as sinks, toilets, dishwashers, washing machines, or hot-water tanks.
Sensor Placement:
- The sensor can be placed on the floor or cabinet base. The three pins on the bottom are designed to contact water leaks. These pins are recessed so they do not contact the surface (See Figure 1).
- The sensor can be safely placed on a metal surface without activation.
- Mounting tape (included) can be applied to the bottom of the sensor for secure placement (See Figure 2).
Using the Detachable Probe:
- For hard-to-reach locations, use the mounting tape to attach the sensor to a wall.
- Open the sensor port to insert the detachable probe (See Figure 3).
- Secure the probe with the pins pointed down using smaller mounting tape (included) (See Figure 4). The contact pins are slightly recessed (See Figure 5).
Power Options:
The sensor has two power options:
- Battery Power: Uses one CR123A battery (included). The signal repeater function is disabled to conserve battery life.
- USB Power: Connect an optional micro USB cable to the power port and plug into any 5V USB power supply (adapter and cable sold separately) (See Figure 6).
Note: If the power option is changed, the sensor must be removed, manually reset, and added to the network again for the signal repeater function to update.
Adding Your Sensor to a Z-Wave Network
The flood/freeze sensor can be added automatically or manually, using either battery or USB power. For best results, add the sensor near its intended location to ensure optimal communication routes.
SmartStart Inclusion:
If your controller supports SmartStart, scan the Z-Wave QR Code (found under the battery door or on the package) when prompted by your controller or hub. The sensor will be added automatically within 10 minutes of being powered up and within range of the Z-Wave network.
Manual Inclusion:
- Follow your Z-Wave controller's instructions to add the sensor.
- When the controller is ready, remove the top cover of the sensor (See Figure 7).
- Ensure the battery is installed correctly (with tab removed) (See Figure 8) or the micro USB is plugged in (See Figure 9).
- Press and release the programming button on the sensor (See Figure 10). The red LED will flash quickly.
- If prompted by the controller, enter the S2 security code found on the product label or packaging.
- The red LED will activate for three seconds to confirm the sensor has been added.
- Secure the top cover.
Note: Your controller may need to be within 10 feet of the sensor during pairing.
Managing the Sensor
Removing from Z-Wave Network:
- Follow your Z-Wave controller's instructions to remove the sensor.
- Press and release the programming button once on the sensor (See Figure 10).
- The red LED will blink five times to indicate removal. Secure the top cover.
Returning to Factory Defaults:
This process removes the sensor from the Z-Wave network. Use this if your primary controller is missing or inoperable.
- Press the programming button 10 times within six seconds (no more than one second between presses).
- The red LED will activate for two seconds, followed by three quick flashes to confirm the reset. Secure the top cover.
Replacing the Battery:
- Remove the top cover (See Figure 7).
- Remove the old battery and install a new one, ensuring correct polarity.
- Secure the top cover.
Z-Wave Interoperability
This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network with other Z-Wave certified devices from different manufacturers. Non-battery operated nodes within the network will act as repeaters to increase network reliability.
