Installation Instructions
WARNING: Improper installation can lead to serious injury, fire, electric shock, or death. Follow all instructions carefully.
Preview Installation Order: The installation process involves several steps:
- Checking and choosing the proper location.
- Unpacking and removing shipping bolts.
- Connecting the water line.
- Connecting the drain line.
- Leveling the washing machine.
- Plugging in the power cord and grounding.
- Performing a test run.
General Warnings for Installation:
- The washer is heavy; two or more people are needed for moving and unpacking.
- Store and install the washer away from freezing temperatures and outdoor weather conditions.
- Properly ground the washer according to codes.
- Do not install in humid spaces to reduce electric shock risk.
- Ensure the base opening is not obstructed by carpeting.
- Do not remove the ground prong; use only a grounded 3-prong outlet.
Checking and Choosing the Proper Location:
Install the washing machine on a solid, rigid floor capable of supporting its weight when fully loaded. Reinforce the floor if it flexes. Clean the floor before installation to ensure it is solid and smooth. Allow sufficient space between the walls and the machine for water lines, drain line, and airflow.
Installing on a Pedestal or Stacking Kit: Refer to the instructions provided with the optional pedestal or stacking kit.
Unpacking and Removing Shipping Bolts:
Carefully remove the foam drum support. If laying the washer down, do so on its side. Loosen and remove all four shipping bolts. Install the provided hole caps into the shipping bolt holes. Save bolt assemblies for future use.
Connecting the Water Lines:
Check rubber seals on hoses. Connect the blue hose to the cold water faucet and the red hose to the hot water faucet. Tighten hoses by hand and then with pliers (do not overtighten). Flush water lines before connecting to the washer. Check for leaks.
WARNING: Do not overtighten hoses; this can damage valves and cause leaks.
NOTE: Use new hoses. Periodically check hoses for wear and replace every 5 years. Water supply pressure should be between 14.5-116 PSI. Optimal hot water temperature is 120-135°F (48-57°C), cold water at 60°F (15°C).
Connecting the Drain Line:
Secure the drain hose to prevent leaks. Ensure the hose end is within 4 inches (10 cm) of the elbow bracket. The total height of the hose end should not exceed 96 inches (244.8 cm) from the bottom of the washer. Connect to a laundry tub or standpipe using an elbow bracket and tie strap.
Leveling the Washing Machine:
Ensure the floor is level and solid to minimize vibration and noise. Check the machine's level by rocking it or using a level. Adjust leveling feet clockwise to raise the machine. Tighten locknuts counterclockwise. If installing on a pedestal, level the pedestal first. Use non-skid pads if the floor is slippery.
WARNING: Improper leveling can cause malfunction due to excess vibration and noise.
Plugging in the Power Cord and Grounding:
Plug the washer into a grounded 3-prong, 120V, 60Hz outlet. The outlet must be accessible and within 1.5m of the washer. Do not overload the outlet. Use a time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. It is the owner's responsibility to ensure a proper outlet is installed by a qualified electrician. Do not use adapters or extension cords. Do not damage the power cord or ground prong.
Test Run:
Load approximately 6 lbs (2.7 kg) of laundry. Press Power (A), select a cycle (e.g., RINSE+SPIN), and press Start/Pause (C). Check for water supply, excessive rocking/vibration, and proper draining.
Preparation
Sorting Wash Loads:
Precautions for Fabric Care Before Wash Cycle:
- Check pockets for items like clips, matches, pens, coins, keys, which can damage the washer and clothes.
- Close zippers, hooks, and drawstrings to prevent snagging.
- Pretreat heavily stained areas for better results.
- Combine large and small items; load large items first (no more than half the washload).
- Do not pack the drum tightly; the door should close easily.
- Avoid washing single items (except bulky items like blankets) to prevent imbalance and noise.
- Do not wash waterproof clothes, as this can cause vibration and damage.
- Check the door seal for foreign objects that could stain clothes or cause leaks.
- Wash small, light items in a laundry net to prevent them from getting caught in the door seal.
- Brush off heavy soil, dust, or hair before washing.
- Wash blankets individually to prevent tangling and imbalance.
- Separate fabrics by color to prevent colors from running or staining.
Fabric Care Labels: Follow the symbols and directions on clothing labels for washing, water temperature, and bleach use.
Sorting Laundry: Sort clothes by Colors (Whites/Lights/Darks), Soil Level (Heavy/Normal/Light), Fabric Type (Delicates/Easy Care/Sturdy Cottons), and Lint (Producers/Collectors).
Using Detergent/Fabric Softener:
Recommended Detergent: Use HE (High-Efficiency) detergent for front-loading washers. Use the correct amount as indicated on the packaging. HE detergents dissolve efficiently and produce fewer suds.
NOTE: Using regular detergent can cause excessive suds. Using too much detergent can lead to buildup and malfunction. Use less detergent for soft water.
Loading the Dispenser:
Pull out the dispenser drawer. Add appropriate detergents to their compartments: pre-wash, main wash, bleach, and fabric softener. If using liquid detergent, ensure the liquid detergent cup is in place. For powdered detergent, remove the cup. Close the drawer slowly.
NOTE: A small amount of water may remain in dispenser compartments after the cycle.
