First-Time Use

Prepare Live TV

Connect an antenna or cable to the TV's ANT jack. You may also connect devices that receive broadcast signals, such as a Set Top Box. TV jacks and antenna/cable functions may vary by model and region.

Channel Scan:

If no TV channels are saved, you will be prompted to perform a channel search. Access Channel Scan via:

  • Press the Power button ⏻ on the remote, select Settings > Channels & Inputs > Channels > Channel Scan.
  • Alternatively, press the Home button ⏻, navigate to Channels > Channel > Channel Scan.
  • Or, press the Settings button ⏻, select Channels & Inputs > Channel Scan.

Before scanning, set Channels & Inputs > Installation Mode to Antenna or Cable.

Connecting to the Internet

Wired (Ethernet) Network:

Connect an Ethernet cable from your modem or router to the TV's LAN port. Most home networks use DHCP, which automatically provides IP address details. After connecting, press the Home button ⏻, select Settings > Network & Internet > Ethernet. Configure connection type, proxy settings, and IP settings as needed.

Wireless Network:

Ensure your wireless router is on and have its SSID and password ready. Press the Home button ⏻, select Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi. Turn on Wi-Fi, select your network from the list, and enter the password. If your network is not listed, select 'See all' or 'Add new network'.

Scanning always available:

This setting allows apps to scan for networks even when Wi-Fi is off. Access via Settings > Network & Internet > Scanning always available.

Using External Devices

To switch between connected external devices, press the Input button on your remote control and select your desired input source.

Home Screen

The Home screen provides access to all TV functions. Press the Home button ⏻ to display it. Navigate using your remote or on-screen controls.

  • Google Assistant: Hold the Mic button & and speak to search for content or control the TV.
  • Google Search: Search for movies, shows, and apps by typing.
  • Apps: Access your installed applications, categories, and apps from other devices.
  • Library: View purchased content and your watchlist.
  • Settings: Configure TV settings, app options, accounts, and preferences.

Viewing Channel Information

As you scroll through channels using the CH < / > buttons, an information banner appears at the top of the screen.

Viewing and Editing Channel Lists

Press the Home button ⏻ to display the Channel List menu. To edit the channel list, navigate to Channel Management > Customize Channel List.

Creating and Viewing Favorite Lists

To create a Favorite List, select a program from the channel list and use the Favorite button (often colored) on the virtual keyboard. A heart-shaped indicator confirms addition. View your favorite channels by selecting the Favorites option in the channel list menu.

Programme Guide (EPG)

The EPG provides a 7-day TV program schedule for digital channels. It allows you to record programs and set reminders. Launch the Guide by pressing Guide buttons (1) and (4) in Live TV mode.

Programme Recording (PVR)

The PVR function allows recording of digital television content. A storage device (NTFS or FAT32 format, minimum 2GB free space) must be connected. Recommended: USB mobile hard disk drive.

Schedule Recording: Navigate to Schedule List, select 'Add' to set channel, date, time, and type. Press the Record button ⋄ to start recording.

Instant Recording: In Live TV, press the Record button ⋄ to start recording. Press it again to stop.

Access Recording List: Navigate to Record List to view, delete, or check information about recorded files.

Checking Storage Device: View or test storage device information via Device Info.

Timeshift

Timeshift allows pausing and rewinding Live TV by temporarily recording to a storage device. Ensure a storage device with sufficient space is connected. Press the Timeshift button (1) to enable. Use playback controls to navigate.

Benefits of Smart TV

Using a Google Account

Sign in with your Google Account to access apps, Google Assistant, and personalized recommendations. Setup can be done during the first TV startup or later via Settings > Accounts & sign-in.

Adding Accounts: You can add a kid account or another Google account via Settings > Accounts & sign-in.

Using Voice Control

Set up Google Assistant to control your TV with voice commands. Press the Mic button & on your remote. Ensure the remote is paired and the TV is connected to the network and signed into your Google account.

Share your Smart Phone/Computer Screen on the TV

Mirror content from your mobile device using the Google Home app. Ensure both devices are on the same network. Enable casting in Settings > System > Cast.

Using Apps

Access apps from the Apps screen (?). You can search for and install new apps. To manage apps, select an app, long-press the OK button ⏯️, and choose 'Move' or 'Uninstall' (for user-installed apps only).

Apps Settings and Permissions

View and manage app settings, permissions, storage, and clear data or cache via Settings > Apps > See all apps.

Connecting to External Devices

Pairing the Remote Control

For Bluetooth remotes, follow on-screen instructions during first-time TV setup. If pairing fails, ensure the remote is within 10 feet (304.8 cm) of the TV. Press the Home button ⏻, select Settings > Remotes & Accessories, then press and hold the Back button 4 and Home button 5 simultaneously for at least 3 seconds. Select the remote name and press OK 6 to pair.

Use HDMI & CEC

HDMI & CEC allows your TV remote to control connected HDMI devices. Ensure both the TV and the external device support HDMI & CEC. Enable HDMI control in Settings > Channels & Inputs > Inputs > HDMI control. Connect a compliant device and turn it on; it should connect automatically. You can also configure 'Device auto power off' and 'TV auto power on'.

HDMI EDID Version and CEC Device List can be viewed in the HDMI settings.

Display & Sound

Picture Settings

Access picture settings via Settings > Display & Sound > Picture.

  • Picture Mode: User, Standard, Vivid, Sport, Movie, Game, Energy Saving.
  • Backlight, Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, HUE, Sharpness: Adjust these basic picture parameters.
  • Advanced Settings: Includes Color Temperature, DNR, MPEG-NR, Adaptive Luma Control, Local Contrast Control, Dynamic Color Booster, Blue Stretch, Gamma, Game Mode, PC Mode, HDMI RGB Light, Low Blue Light, Color Space, Color Tuner, and 11 Point White Balance Correction.
  • Reset to Default: Reverts picture settings to factory defaults.

Screen Settings

Adjust the Aspect Ratio (Automatic, Full, Wide screen, Super zoom, Unscaled, 4:3, etc.) via Settings > Display & Sound > Screen.

Sound Settings

Access sound settings via Settings > Display & Sound > Sound.

  • Sound Style: User, Standard, Vivid, Sports, Movie, Music, News.
  • Balance, Bass, Treble: Adjust audio levels.
  • Equalizer Detail: Fine-tune frequencies.
  • Speakers: Set to Automatic or Off.
  • Speaker Delay: Sync audio with video.
  • Downmix Mode: Stereo or Surround.
  • DTS Virtual:X: Enhance sound immersion.
  • Reset to Default: Reverts sound settings to factory defaults.

Audio Output

Configure audio output settings via Settings > Display & Sound > Audio Output. Options include Digital Output (Auto, Bypass, PCM, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital) and Digital Output Delay.

Network & Internet

Connect to the internet via wireless, Ethernet, or phone hotspot. Refer to 'First-Time Use > Connecting to the Internet' for details.

  • Data saver: Adjust video quality to reduce mobile data usage.
  • Data usage and alerts: Monitor data consumption and set alerts.
  • Wake configs: Enable/disable Wake on Wireless (WoW), Wake on LAN (WoL), or Wake on Chromecast (WoC).

Privacy

  • Location: Manage how your TV uses location information.
  • Usage & diagnostics: Control sending diagnostic information to improve performance.
  • Ads: Manage advertising settings.
  • Google Assistant: Set up and use Google Assistant.
  • Payment & Purchases: Manage account and purchases via the Play Store.

System Settings

  • About: View system information, check for System updates, change Device name, perform a Reset, check Status, view Legal information, and see model and software details.
  • Date & Time: Set date, time, and time zone automatically or manually. Choose between 12-hour or 24-hour format.
  • Language: Adjust the TV's display language.
  • Keyboard: Configure keyboard settings.
  • Storage: View the TV's storage usage.
  • Ambient mode: Activate a screensaver.
  • Power & Energy: Configure power-on behavior, auto-off timers, sleep timers, and standby light settings.
  • Cast: Set Google Cast behavior (Always, While casting, Never).
  • System sounds: Enable or disable system sounds.
  • Retail Mode: Turn store mode on or off.
  • Restart: Restart your TV.

Help & Feedback

Access help resources and send feedback via Settings > Help & Feedback.

Using Parental Control

Enable Parental Control via Parental Control settings. Create a PIN to block content by channels, program ratings, or inputs. You can also change the PIN.

Accessibility Features

Enhance usability for all users via Settings > System > Accessibility.

  • Captions: Display and customize closed captions.
  • High contrast text: Improves text visibility.
  • Text to speech (TTS): Reads on-screen text aloud.
  • Accessibility shortcut: Activate features quickly (e.g., press Back + Down for 3 seconds).
  • TalkBack: Provides spoken feedback for visually impaired users.
  • Switch access: Collects typed text (excluding passwords).

Advanced Options: Includes settings for Audio Tracks, Audio Description, Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Blue Mute, No Signal Auto Power Off, and Open Source Licenses.

Entertainment

MultiMediaPlayer

Access photos, music, and movies from USB drives or compatible mobile devices. Launch MMP from the Apps list or Settings > Apps > MultiMediaPlayer. Browse content by VIDEO, PHOTO, MUSIC, or TEXT categories.

Media Format List

The manual provides detailed lists of supported Video and Audio codecs, resolutions, bit rates, profiles, and containers. It also lists supported Photo formats including JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, WebP, and HEIF.

Troubleshooting

Picture Issues

No picture or black and white: Check input cable connections. Unplug and replug the TV power cord.

No sound or low volume: Check Mute mode and volume settings. Verify volume on connected devices. Ensure the correct audio output is selected (e.g., TV Speaker).

Distorted, blurry, flickering, or color issues: Check antenna connections and signal strength. Adjust sharpness settings. Ensure electrical appliances are not causing interference. Try a different power outlet.

Sound Issues

No sound: Verify volume and mute settings. Check audio cable connections and ensure the correct audio output is selected.

Odd speaker sound: Ensure audio cables are connected correctly. Check signal information for low signal levels that might cause distortion.

Network Issues

Cannot connect to apps: Verify network connection. Contact your Internet Service Provider.

Wireless connection fails: Ensure your modem/router is on and connected to the internet. Position your router centrally to improve signal strength.

Channel and Broadcast Issues

No signal, weak signal, or no channels found: Check antenna cable connections. Reconnect the cable. Run a channel scan again or reset the TV to factory defaults.

External Device Connection Issues

No picture or sound from external device: Ensure the connection is secure and the correct input source is selected. Try a different HDMI port or cable. Unplug and replug the TV power cord.

HDMI & CEC Issues

HDMI & CEC not working: Confirm device compatibility. Check power and cable connections. Ensure HDMI & CEC is enabled on both the TV and the connected device.

Application Issues

App not playing: Try force stopping and reopening the app. Restart the TV.

Media Files

Files not playing: Ensure files are not corrupted and meet the supported resolution, container, and codec format requirements.

Other Issues

TV is hot: Normal heat dissipation during extended use.

Plastic cabinet clicking sound: Normal sound due to temperature changes causing expansion/contraction.

Delay before picture appears on startup: Normal initialization process.
