Upgrading from PADM15.5.x to PADM20
This document provides instructions for upgrading your Tripp Lite PowerAlert Device Manager (PADM) from version 15.5.x to PADM20.
NOTE: Ensure that the device is running firmware version 15.5.2 or later. If the device is running firmware version 15.5.1 or earlier, update it to 15.5.7 prior to updating to PADM20. To verify the firmware version in use, look for the PowerAlert Engine Version in the About menu item of the device's web interface.
Upgrade Procedure
- A reboot of the LX interface is highly recommended prior to performing the update. In the Control > Device menu item, select the "Restart SNMP Card" option then click the "Run" button. The reboot will require a re-login to the web interface.
- In the web interface menu, navigate to Control > Device and select the "Firmware Update" checkbox. The "Choose File" button will appear below the Control menu.
- Click on the "Choose File" (or Browse) button. In the window that appears, navigate to the location where the downloaded

file is stored, then click "Open". The window will close and return to the device web interface. - Click "Upload" in the Update window. A progress bar indicator will reflect the status of the upload.
- When the upload is complete, click the "Update" button. A progress bar indicator will reflect the status of the update. Please allow at least 10 minutes for the update to complete.
- When the update is complete, clear the browser cache. Close and re-open the browser, then log into the device's web interface again. Note that if the device had a dynamically assigned (DHCP) IP address, the IP address may be different after the upgrade.
Verification
After the upgrade, log in to the device's web interface. Verify the PowerAlert Engine Version in the About menu to confirm the successful installation of PADM20.
Important Considerations:
- Ensure a stable network connection during the upgrade process.
- Do not close the browser window during the upload or update process.
- If your device uses a DHCP-assigned IP address, be prepared for a potential change in IP address after the upgrade.
