Hook-up Guide
The X AIR mixers offer flexible connectivity for various setups:
- Inputs: Utilize XLR/TRS combo jacks for microphones and line-level sources. TRS jacks are available for additional line inputs. Channels 15 and 16 on the XR16 (channels 11 and 12 on the XR12) feature Hi-Z inputs for direct connection of guitars and basses.
- Outputs: Main L/R outputs are provided via XLR connectors. Aux sends are available via XLR (XR16) or balanced 1/4" TRS jacks (XR12). A headphone output is provided via a 1/4" TRS jack.
- Control: Connect to the mixer for remote control via Ethernet LAN or wirelessly using Wi-Fi.
- Ancillary: MIDI IN/OUT jacks allow connection to external MIDI equipment. The USB port (Type A) is used for flash drives for file storage, stereo recordings, and playback.
Network Connection
The X AIR mixers can be controlled wirelessly or via Ethernet, offering three connection modes:
- Ethernet/LAN: Connect directly to a router or computer via an Ethernet cable. Supports DHCP Client (default), DHCP Server, and Static IP configurations.
- Wifi Client: Connects to an existing Wi-Fi network. Requires the correct SSID and password. Supports WEP, WPA, and WPA2 security.
- Access Point: The mixer acts as its own Wi-Fi router, allowing up to 4 clients to connect directly. The default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
The REMOTE switch [2] selects between these modes. Network settings can be configured via the X AIR remote control applications.
USB Recorder
The USB port (Type A) supports file storage, stereo recording, and playback, all controllable via the X AIR apps.
- Supported audio format: WAV (16-bit, 44.1/48 kHz).
- Supported file system: FAT32.
- Maximum recording time: Approximately 3 hours per file, with a 2 GB file size limit.
It is recommended to perform a test recording after formatting the USB drive.
