For the Qualified Tradie: Installation Instructions
Important: Installation must be undertaken by a qualified tradesperson in a professional manner. Failure to install according to these instructions may void your ADP warranty and could lead to homeowner claims against the installer.
Prior to Installation Checklist
- Check for Damages: Inspect all products within 48 hours of receipt for any freight damage or incorrect items. Contact your place of purchase for any issues. No claims will be accepted after installation.
- Positioning & Ventilation: Ensure furniture is at least 300mm away from wet areas. Materials are moisture-resistant, not waterproof. Adequate bathroom ventilation is crucial to prevent moisture buildup, dampness, mould, and material deterioration. Water damage is not covered by ADP warranty.
- Check for Support Beams: Wall-hung furniture requires fixing to support beams between studs for secure mounting.
- Check for Plumb Walls: Ensure walls are plumb and straight. Installation on non-plumb walls can affect door alignment and operation.
Shaving Cabinet Installation Steps
- Position Cabinet & Level: Remove doors and place them on a soft surface. Position the cabinet, ensuring all sides are level. Mark the cabinet's position on the wall. Damage during installation is not covered by ADP warranty.
- Securing the Cabinet: Fasten the cabinet securely to the wall using appropriate screws/bolts at the top and bottom. Space fixings horizontally at a maximum of 300mm apart. Use appropriate hollow wall anchors if support beams cannot be located.
- Sealing: Apply non-acidic silicone sealant to all edges where the cabinet meets the wall to prevent water penetration. Gap sealant can be used on tiled surfaces.
- Adjust Doors: Reinstall doors and adjust hinges as necessary to ensure proper alignment. Refer to the hinge adjustment section for detailed instructions. The installer is responsible for all door adjustments.
Option: Recessing a Mirrored Shaving Cabinet
- Cut a hole in the wall 4mm larger than the cabinet carcass. Ensure sufficient support (nogging) for fixing.
- Position and secure the cabinet in the cutout.
- Ensure the cabinet carcass protrudes a minimum of 20mm from the wall (including tiles) to allow for door opening and potential light installation.
Door Hinge Alignment
- Side Adjustment: Use the front screw to move the door left or right for leveling.
- Depth Adjustment: Use the back screw to move the door inward or outward from the carcass.
- Height Adjustment: Loosen the top and bottom screws on the mount plate, adjust door height, and retighten screws.
Door Hinge Installation
- To Remove Doors: Apply finger pressure to the clip at the back of the hinge and pull forward to release.
- To Install Doors: Align the hinge with the mount on the carcass, press the back of the hinge into place until it clicks.
- Removing Hinge from Door: Lift the top cover plate with a flathead screwdriver and pull the hinge out.
- Replacing Hinge on Door: With the cover plate lifted, position the hinge and insert into the door holes until flush. Click the cover plate down to lock.
Care & Maintenance Guide
Tips
- ADP products are designed for bathroom environments, but adequate ventilation is essential to prevent excessive moisture, dampness, mould, and material deterioration.
- Promptly dry any excessive moisture or water spillage.
Cabinets
- Clean with a soft cloth and a weak solution of non-abrasive detergent.
- For scratches on two-pack polyurethane finishes, use car cutting compound, car polish, or household brass/silver cleaner.
- While constructed with water/moisture-resistant materials, they are not waterproof.
- Install cabinets at least 300mm away from showers or bathtubs to prevent water damage.
Mirrors
- For Best Results: Use a slightly moistened microfiber cloth for dry dirt/grime, then buff with a dry microfiber cloth or a soft, tightly woven dry cloth for a smear-free finish.
- Do Not: Use ammonia-based cleaning products (e.g., glass cleaner) as they can damage the mirror's silver backing and cause streaks. Always check product labels.
- Protection Against 'Black-Spotting': To prevent darkening of the mirror's silver backing (black-spotting) caused by alkaline, acid, or moisture, regularly oil any exposed edges with non-petroleum-based oils (e.g., sewing machine oil). This acts as a seal. Keep mirrors dry and wipe off moisture or steam immediately.
Bathroom Ventilation Guide
Let's Talk Bathroom Ventilation
Proper bathroom ventilation saves money and promotes a healthy environment by preventing mould, a common issue in poorly ventilated bathrooms.

Why Ventilation Is So Important
Adequate ventilation is crucial for the longevity of bathroom products like vanities and mirrors. Moisture buildup can cause premature failure. Good ventilation also reduces humidity, minimizing bacteria growth, mould, and mildew, contributing to better respiratory health.
Signs of Poor Ventilation
- Black spotting or corrosion on mirrors (often the first sign as they are typically located high up).
- Paint flaking on ceilings.
- Bubbling paint on fixtures.
- Furniture swelling.
- Evidence of mould or mildew.
How to Achieve Good Ventilation
- The best indicators of good ventilation are mirrors that do not fog up and dry tiled walls.
- Install a correctly sized exhaust fan (approx. 50 CFM per toilet and 50 CFM per shower/bath). Ensure the fan exhausts air outdoors, not into walls, to prevent moisture and mould issues within wall cavities.
- Run the exhaust fan whenever water is used in the bathroom and for approximately 15 minutes afterward.
- Open bathroom windows daily, even in colder months, in addition to using the exhaust fan, to maintain a fresh, mould-free environment.
Enjoy a well-ventilated, mould-free bathroom for years to come!
