Land Rover InControl: An Overview
InControl™ utilizes smartphone and mobile technologies to connect your vehicle to various services and offers a range of convenient features.
Key InControl Functions
InControl offers four main functions:
- InControl Remote
- InControl Secure
- InControl Wi-Fi
- InControl Apps
If your vehicle was not pre-registered by your dealer, or if you are the first owner, you will need to create an account at www.landroverincontrol.com/owner. Follow the on-screen instructions to link your vehicle to your account and activate InControl.
Note: Mobile network coverage is not guaranteed to be 100% available in all areas.
Note: When selling the vehicle, the owner is responsible for removing the vehicle from their InControl account.
InControl Remote
InControl Remote includes the following elements:
- The InControl Remote smartphone application.
- Emergency Call function.
- Breakdown Call function.
InControl Remote Smartphone Application
The InControl Remote smartphone application offers several features, including:
- Remote checking of fuel level and driving range.
- Locating your vehicle for easy finding in a crowded parking lot.
- Checking if all windows and doors are closed.
- Trip information download feature to help calculate business trip expenses.
The InControl Remote smartphone app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android.
Breakdown Call Function
Located on the overhead console. Refer to the Driver Controls section. In case of a breakdown, press the cover to access the button. The button will be illuminated by a white LED. Press the button for 2 seconds to make the call. Your location and vehicle details will be automatically transmitted to Land Rover Assistance.
During a call, the amber backlight of the button will flash. During the call, the amber backlight will remain continuously illuminated. Close the button cover after use.
SOS Emergency Call Function
Located on the overhead console. Refer to the Driver Controls section. In case of personal safety threat, press the cover to access the button. The button will be illuminated by a red LED. Press the button for 2 seconds to make the call. Your location and vehicle details will be automatically transmitted to emergency services.
After activation, the amber backlight of the button will flash. During the call, the amber backlight will remain continuously illuminated. Close the button cover after use.
Notes:
- In the event of airbag deployment or an accident, the SOS Emergency Call function will activate automatically.
- If you are abroad, the call will be made, but automatic transmission of vehicle information and location is not guaranteed.
InControl Secure
InControl Secure provides access to a stolen vehicle tracking service. In case of vehicle theft or unauthorized movement, the InControl security operations center will contact you to confirm the actions. You can also contact the InControl Secure control center using the InControl Remote smartphone app or the phone number listed on the InControl website.
During vehicle service or repair, the InControl system must be set to Service mode. This can be done using the InControl smartphone app or the InControl website.
If the vehicle is being transported, the InControl system must be set to Transport mode. This can also be done using the InControl smartphone app or the InControl website.
Failure to set the system to service or transport mode may result in a false theft alert.
Note: After initial activation of Service or Transport mode, these modes must be updated every 10 hours, or more frequently if necessary.

InControl Wi-Fi
InControl Wi-Fi provides Internet connectivity via a high-speed 3G connection.
A SIM card must be inserted into the SIM card holder for this purpose. The SIM card holder is located behind a cover on the left side of the luggage compartment.
The SIM card holder has a "Mini-SIM" interface. If your SIM card is a different format, such as "Micro-SIM", an adapter or another SIM card must be used.
Access to your Wi-Fi hotspot's IMEI number is available through the Wi-Fi hotspot router menu (see Wi-Fi settings below). Your mobile network provider may require this information to activate the SIM card.
Notes:
- If the SIM card was previously used in a mobile phone or other device and is protected by a Personal Identification Number (PIN), you must reset the PIN code before using the SIM card in the vehicle.
To install the SIM card, press button (1) to remove the SIM card holder (2). Insert the SIM card into the holder as shown in figure (3). Fully close the SIM card holder.
Notes: The USB port (4) is intended for use during servicing only.
CAUTION! Ensure the SIM card is correctly positioned in the holder. Failure to do so may result in damage to the SIM card or the SIM card reader.
Wi-Fi Settings:
InControl Wi-Fi can be turned on and off using the touchscreen. In the Extra features menu, select WiFi Hotspot (Wi-Fi Hotspot). For additional information, see the TOUCHSCREEN MAIN MENU.
On the WiFi Hotspot screen, you can also perform basic system settings. Advanced settings, such as changing the security password and configuring the Access Point Name (APN), can be found in the wireless network router menu, which is used as the access point. Access it using your mobile phone.
To open the wireless network router menu, follow these steps:
- On the WiFi Hotspot screen, select Help (Help).
- The wireless network router address will be shown on the touchscreen. Copy this address into the address bar of the browser on your mobile phone.
- The wireless network router menu will now open on your mobile phone screen. Log in using your InControl credentials.
Wi-Fi Pictograms:
- 1. Connection to 3G mobile network.
- 2. Connection to 2G mobile network.
- 3. Connecting.
- 4. No mobile network connection.
- 1. Wi-Fi hotspot is enabled.
- 2. Wi-Fi hotspot initialization.
InControl Apps
WARNING! Use the system, change settings, and view system messages only when it is safe to do so.
WARNING! Drivers should not be distracted by or operate the touchscreen while driving. Driver distraction can lead to accidents with severe injuries or fatalities.
The InControl™ Apps function allows you to view and use approved smartphone applications via the vehicle's touchscreen.
To access the InControl Apps function, you must first download the InControl Apps application for your smartphone. For Apple iPhone®, this application can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. For Android phones, the application is available through the Google Play service.
Notes: Not all smartphones are compatible with InControl Apps. A list of compatible smartphones and supported applications can be found in the "Owners" section of the www.landrover.com website.
To connect your smartphone to the vehicle, it must be unlocked and connected to the USB port. Ensure all phone covers and cases are in the open position. Closed covers and cases may lead to phone blocking and interruption of the connection with InControl Apps.
The InControl Apps pictogram is shown above.
To activate the InControl Apps function, connect your smartphone using a suitable USB cable to the USB port in the glove box. The USB port for the InControl Apps function is marked with the InControl Apps pictogram, as shown above.
Notes: For iPhone users: when prompted on the phone, you must allow the application to run.
Notes: For Android users: when prompted on the phone, you may allow the application to run permanently.
After connecting, select InControl Apps from the main touchscreen menu. You will be able to use the InControl Apps function, and compatible applications will be displayed on the vehicle's touchscreen. You can now launch and use these applications using the vehicle's touchscreen.
Notes: If the ignition and engine are switched off, the Bluetooth connection between the phone and the vehicle will be interrupted. To reconnect the phone to the vehicle via Bluetooth, see SETTING UP CONNECTION AND CONNECTION VIA TOUCHSCREEN.
