Processor/amplifier: Features controls for Volume, Center, Treble, Bass, Boost, Input selection, Surround Modes (Pro Logic, Concert Hall, Stereo), and Test function.
Satellite speakers: Five video-shielded speakers for front, center, and rear channels. Feature a rotating JBL logo.
Subwoofer: Provides deep bass output for the system.
Remote control: Used to operate various functions including volume, balance, tone controls, and mode selection.
Cables: Includes various lengths of speaker wire: Red Tag (5'), Black Tag (9'), White Tag (28').

Speaker Placement
Satellite Speakers
Place the center speaker even with the left and right speakers, or slightly behind.
Place all three front speakers at approximately the same height (Height of ears preferable).

Rear Speakers
Place rear speakers approximately 5-6 ft from the seating area.

Note: Optional stands are available (Part No. FS10/20). The subwoofer can be positioned vertically or horizontally, with corner placement recommended for maximum bass output.
Speaker Connection
To connect your speakers, press down on the quick release tab, which opens the terminal for the speaker wire, and put the wire in straight. Release the tab and give the speaker wire a gentle tug. If it's in properly, it won't "give" at all. If it slides, repeat the procedure.
Use the shortest wire for the CENTER speaker, the two medium-length wires for the FRONT speakers, and the long wires for the REAR speakers.
Always insert the RED coated wire into the RED terminal and the BLACK coated wire into the BLACK terminals on each of your speakers and the appropriate terminal on the back of the PROCESSOR.

Source Connection
TV or VCR
Connect the audio output from your Stereo TV or Stereo VCR ? to the INPUT 1 or INPUT 2 jacks on the processor using appropriate cables.

Headphone Output
For Stereo TV ? with Headphone Output Only: Connect the headphone output ? of the TV to the INPUT 1 or INPUT 2 jacks on the processor.

Plug-In and Turn-On
Connect the AC power cord to the processor and plug it into a live electrical outlet.

Turn-On
To turn the unit on, set the Master Power switch to the 'ON' position. To turn the unit off, set the Master Power switch to the 'OFF' position.

*Note: The unit will return to default settings when the Master Power switch is turned off.
Test Function
Press the 'TEST' button on the remote control ? to cycle through a series of test tones for each speaker. This helps verify connections and speaker placement.

Surround Modes
Select the desired surround mode using the buttons on the remote control: PRO LOGIC, CONCERT HALL, or STEREO. These modes affect the sound field processing.

Volume Control
Adjust the overall system volume using the VOLUME +/- buttons on the remote control ?.

Balance Control
Use the BALANCE controls on the remote ? to adjust the sound balance between the left and right speakers, or between the front and rear speakers.

Bass & Treble Control
Adjust the bass and treble levels to your preference using the BASS +/- and TREBLE +/- buttons on the remote control ?.

Bass Boost
Engage the Bass Boost feature using the BOOST button on the remote control ? for enhanced low-frequency response.

Troubleshooting
No Sound
- Ensure the processor/amplifier is plugged into a live electrical outlet and that the power switch is ON.
- Check the connections from the TV ? or VCR ? to the processor/amplifier.
- If using with a television, make sure the TV is on and a signal is present.
- If using with a VCR, make sure the VCR is playing a tape.
- Check all connections between processor/amplifier and each of the speakers ?.
One or More Speakers Not Playing
- Check all connections between processor/amplifier and each of the speakers ?.
- Adjust the balance controls from left to right and front to rear.
Low Bass Output
- Make sure the subwoofer is connected properly to the processor/amplifier.
- Experiment with placement of subwoofer. Remember, place the subwoofer in a corner to get maximum bass output from the system.
- Make sure "Bass Boost" is on.
- Adjust "Bass" level.
No Sound from Rear Speakers or Low Volume
- Check all connections between processor/amplifier and each of the speakers ?.
- Adjust the front-rear balance controls on the processor/amplifier.
- Make sure the TV show or movie you are watching is recorded in Dolby Surround. If it is not, try the "Concert Hall" or "Stereo" settings on the processor/amplifier.
