- Ensure soap solution is applied to all connections. Connect regulator to gas cylinder, open gas control valve on regulator.
- Observe for bubbles indicating a leak.
- Turn off gas and tighten all joints.
- Repeat test. If bubbles form again, do not use the barbecue. Contact your local dealer.
Gas and Regulator Instructions
- This barbecue uses propane or butane LPG bottled gas. Change regulator if using butane.
- Propane cylinders supply gas year-round, even in cold weather.
- Butane cylinders supply sufficient gas in summer but must not be used in colder temperatures. Contact your local gas supplier for advice.
- Cylinder should be positioned underneath the main barbecue body and stored upright.
- Gas cylinders should never be stored or laid on their side.
User Instructions
Preparation before cooking
To prevent food sticking, use a long-handled brush to apply a light coat of cooking or vegetable oil before each barbecuing session.
Note: When cooking for the first time, the exterior paint may change color slightly due to high temperatures. This is normal.
Lighting the barbecue
- Open the barbecue hood (2)/top lid (14).
- Ensure all knobs are in the ‘OFF’ position (7).
- Unscrew ignition button (8) and insert AA battery (positive end outwards). Screw ignition button back in.
- Open barbecue hood (2)/top lid (14) and turn on gas supply at gas cylinder.
- Turn burner control knob (7) to position ›.
- Press and hold ignition button (8) to ignite burner flames. If ignition does not occur in 5 seconds, turn burner control knob (7) to OFF •, wait 5 minutes, and repeat.
- In windy conditions, shield from wind for easier lighting.
- Once ignited, turn control knob (7) to lower or raise heat.
- After ignition, burn burners at high for 3-5 minutes to preheat. Hood should be open during preheating.
- After preheating, turn burners to low and cook with the hood down for best results.
Manual Lighting Instructions
- Remove cooking grill (4), griddle plate (13), and vapour bar (5) from barbecue.
- Place a lit match beside the burner (6).
- Push and turn the rightmost control knob (7) anti-clockwise to the high position.
- After successful lighting, light each burner from left to right.
Grill Cooking
The vapour bar distributes burner flame evenly. Natural food juices vaporize on the hot vapour bar. Even cooking is achieved with the hood down. Use burner on low for this.
Flare-Up Control
IMPORTANT – FLARE UPS CAN OCCUR FROM RESIDUE FAT AND JUICES DRIPPING ONTO BURNERS AND HOT VAPOUR BAR. To reduce this, regularly clean burners and vapour bar. Trim away excess fat from meat and poultry before grilling. Use low setting for burners during cooking. Protect hands when handling anything near the cooking surface.
Covered Cooking
Keep the hood closed for even heat circulation. The barbecue acts like a convection oven. The hood thermometer indicates cooking temperature. Avoid lifting the hood to look inside during cooking as heat will be lost.
End of Cooking Session
- Turn barbecue burners to 'HIGH' and burn for 5 minutes to burn off cooking residue, making cleaning easier.
- Push control knob (7) in and turn to 'OFF'.
- Turn gas off and disconnect at cylinder when not in use.
- Disconnect regulator when barbecue is not in use. Wait until sufficiently cool before closing hood.
- Ensure grease cup is cleaned thoroughly at the end of every cooking session.
Food Safety
- Wash hands before and after handling uncooked meat and before eating.
- Keep raw meat away from cooked meat and other foods.
- Ensure barbecue grill surfaces and tools are clean and free of old food residue.
- Do not use the same utensils for cooked and uncooked foods.
- Ensure all meat is cooked thoroughly before eating.
CAUTION - eating raw or undercooked meat can cause food poisoning (e.g. bacteria strains such as E.coli).
To reduce the risk of undercooked meat, cut to ensure it is cooked all the way through internally.
CAUTION - if meat has been cooked sufficiently, meat juices should be clear and there should be no traces of pink/red juice or meat colouring.
Care and Maintenance
- Regularly clean barbecue between uses and especially after extended storage.
- Ensure barbecue and components are cool before cleaning.
- Do not leave barbecue exposed to outside weather conditions or stored in damp areas.
- Never douse barbecue with water when surfaces are hot.
- Never handle hot parts with unprotected hands.
- Cover the unit when left outside for extended periods, especially during winter.
- Servicing should be performed after every 100 hours of use or annually, whichever is sooner.
- Change flexible tube when national conditions require it.
Caution
If you smell gas – turn off barbecue, extinguish flames, open hood. If odor continues, contact gas supplier.
In case of uncontrollable fire, disconnect gas cylinder, move away from fire, and contact fire services. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT RISK!
Ensure aerosols are not used near barbecue when in use.

Cleaning and Maintenance Details
Cooking Grill (4)
- Clean with hot soapy water.
- Use a mild cream cleaner on a non-abrasive pad for food residue.
- Rinse well and dry thoroughly.
Burner (6) Maintenance
- In normal usage, burning off residue after cooking keeps burners clean.
- Clean burners annually, or when heavy build-up is found, to ensure no blockage (debris, insects) in burner portholes or venturi tubes. A blocked burner can lead to fire beneath the grill.
- Visually inspect burner operation. Ensure flame from all portholes.
Vapour Bar (5)
- Clean with soap and warm water using a low abrasive cleaning cloth or sponge.
Grease cup (11)
- IMPORTANT – Check and clean grease tray regularly before every use and replace if necessary.
- Do not allow fat residue to build up in the tray.
- NEVER use without grease cup in position.
Barbecue Body (9)
- Regularly remove excess grease or fat from barbecue body with a soft plastic or wooden scraper.
- It is not necessary to remove all grease. For full cleaning, use hot soapy water and a cloth, or nylon-bristled brush.
- Remove cooking surfaces and burners before full cleaning.
- Do not immerse gas controls or manifold in water.
- Check burner operation after refitting into body.
Fixings
- Check and tighten all screws and bolts regularly.
