In Case of a Flat Tire ⚠️
The PTN Gravel-Sport insert allows for safe riding at low speeds to reach your vehicle or the next service point.
Installation Guide ?
Fase 1: Recommended Tools ?️
- PTN Gravel-Sport tire insert
- PTN Lufty2 Air valve
- Traditional tire levers
- Maxalami Noodle lever (optional) - maxalami.de
- Spray bottle with soapy water ??
Fase 2: Valve Installation
Before installation, verify that the rim and rim tape are in perfect condition. Begin by inserting the Lufty2 air valve into the rim hole.
Fase 3: Securing the Valve
The fastening nut is tightened by hand onto the rim hole. Do not use tools or pliers, as overtightening can damage the rubber seal or cause an air leak.
Fase 4: Positioning the Insert
Turn the wheel so the air valve is at the 12 o'clock position. Place the PTN insert into the rim bed.
Fase 5: Inserting the PTN
Place the PTN insert into the tire and slide it onto the rim bed. Start by pushing the insert onto the rim from both sides simultaneously, moving towards the valve.
Fase 6: Lubrication
Spray the tire bead and rim wall with soapy water. This aids in sliding the tire onto the rim. Do not use lubricants or tire wax, as they can damage tires and carbon rims.
Fase 7: Seating the Tire
Begin at the 6 o'clock position and push the tire bead into the rim, section by section. Use one hand on either side, pushing towards the air valve (at the 12 o'clock position). Ensure the tire bead remains seated in the deepest part of the rim bed. Leave adequate space for sealant.
Fase 8: Sealant Preparation
Shaking the sealant is highly recommended if the sealant milk is not sufficiently liquid to easily pass through the thin air valve shaft hole. Follow the sealant manufacturer's instructions.
Fase 9: Initial Inflation
The tire can be seated more easily with the help of two tire levers. Move the levers slowly in the direction of the air valve. Inflate the tire to a maximum of 3.5 Bar / approx. 50 PSI. After this step, ensure the tire is seated perfectly on the rim.
Fase 10: Sealant Check and Final Inflation
A sealant check is recommended if the sealant is very liquid, to prevent blockages. Inflate the tire to a maximum of 3.5 Bar / approx. 50 PSI. Ensure the tire is seated perfectly on the rim.
Removing Tubeless-Ready Tires ⚙️
Fase 11: Initial Removal
Place a tire lever next to the air valve and slide it between the tire bead and the rim. It is important to also press the tire bead down with your thumb. This makes it easier to lift the tire bead out of the rim with the lever. For easier removal, spray a little soapy water between the tire bead and the rim.
Fase 12: Completing Removal
Use a second lever to lift another section of the tire bead out of the rim. Important: Never use levers with sharp edges. Never loosen the tire by pushing the lever sideways, as this movement can damage the tire insert internally, causing cracks or cuts in the foam, rendering the insert unusable.
