  1. Do not use this product near water.
  2. This product should be operated only by the type of power source indicated on the marking label or in this instruction manual.
  3. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one blade wider than the other. This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician.
  4. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit the product.

Product Description and Components

The Crosley CR6034A Switch II Turntable system comprises a main unit housing the turntable mechanism, controls, and radio tuner, accompanied by two external speakers. The system is designed for versatile audio playback.

Key Components:

  1. Speaker: Provides audio output.
  2. Power / Volume Knob: Controls the unit's power and audio volume.
  3. Speed Switch: Selects the turntable playback speed (33⅓ or 45 RPM).
  4. Function Switch: Selects the audio source (e.g., PHONO, AUX, Bluetooth, FM, AM).
  5. Headphone Jack: For connecting standard headphones.
  6. Aux In Jack: A 3.5mm input port for connecting external audio devices such as smartphones or MP3 players.
  7. Tuning Knob: Used to adjust the radio station frequency for AM and FM broadcasts.
  8. Turntable Platter: The rotating disc where records are placed.
  9. Turntable Spindle: The central post that secures the turntable platter and record.
  10. Pitch Control: Allows for fine adjustment of the turntable's rotational speed, typically by +/- 10%.
  11. Cue Lever: A mechanism to safely lift and lower the tonearm onto the record.
  12. Tonearm Rest: A designated place to park the tonearm when not in use.
  13. Hold Down Clip: Secures the tonearm to the base, preventing damage during transport.
  14. Tonearm: The arm that holds the stylus and tracks the record groove.
  15. Spring clip speaker terminals: Connectors for attaching speaker wires to the main unit.
  16. Power Jack: The input port for the AC power adapter.
  17. 45 RPM Adapter: A small adapter placed on the spindle to play records with larger center holes (45 RPM singles).

Initial Setup

Essential Setup

  1. Place the unit on a flat, level, and stable surface that is free from vibration to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Remove the tie-wrap that is securing the tonearm during shipping.
  3. Place the provided slip mat onto the turntable platter.
  4. Connect the speakers to the spring clip speaker terminals located on the back or side of the turntable unit.
  5. Connect the AC power adapter to the Power Jack on the unit.

Important: Do not plug the AC power adapter into a wall outlet until all assembly and connections are completed. Double-check all connection settings before turning the power on. Always ensure the unit is powered off when connecting or disconnecting cables.

Stereo System Connection

The spring clip speaker terminals are designed to deliver amplified, speaker-level signals. Connect these terminals to your passive speakers using appropriate speaker wire.

Aux Input Connection

To play audio from an external device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) through the unit's speakers:

  1. Rotate the Function Knob to select the 'Aux In' mode.
  2. Connect one end of a 3.5mm auxiliary cable to your audio device and the other end to the Aux In Jack on the unit.
  3. Start playback on your external audio device.

Turntable Operation

  1. To turn the unit on, rotate the Power / Volume Knob.
  2. Set the Function Switch to the 'PHONO' position.
  3. Set the Speed Switch to match the speed of your record (33⅓ RPM for LPs, 45 RPM for singles).
  4. Place the record onto the turntable platter. Use the 45 RPM Adapter if the record has a large center hole.
  5. Carefully remove the stylus protector from the stylus assembly. (Note: To prevent stylus damage, ensure the stylus guard remains in place whenever the turntable is being moved or cleaned.)
  6. Release the tonearm from the Hold Down Clip. (Note: When the turntable is not in use, remember to secure the tonearm by locking the hold-down clip back.)
  7. Use the Cue Lever to gently lift the tonearm.
  8. Carefully move the tonearm over the desired starting point on the record. Set the Cue Lever to the down position; the tonearm will descend slowly onto the record, initiating playback.
  9. When the record finishes playing, use the Cue Lever again to raise the tonearm. Return the tonearm to the Tonearm Rest and release the lever. To temporarily suspend playback, repeat these steps.
  10. Secure the tonearm by locking it to the Tonearm Clip.

Pitch Control

The turntable speed can be fine-tuned by approximately 10% using the Pitch Control Knob. Rotate the knob clockwise to increase the speed, and counter-clockwise to decrease it.

Needle Replacement

Removing the Needle

  1. Gently pull down the front edge of the needle.
  2. Pull the needle forward.
  3. Pull out and remove the needle from the cartridge.

Installing a New Needle

  1. Position the new needle with its tip facing downwards.
  2. Align the back of the needle with the cartridge.
  3. Insert the needle, starting with its front end at a downward angle, and gently lift the front of the needle upward until it securely snaps into place. (SNAP!)

Radio Operation

  1. Set the Function Switch to either the 'FM' or 'AM' position.
  2. Rotate the Tuning Knob to select your desired radio station.

The unit is equipped with a FM wire antenna. For optimal FM reception, adjust the position of the wire antenna until the signal is clear and free from interference. Do not connect any external antenna.

The AM antenna is integrated within the unit. If AM reception is poor, try rotating the entire unit to find a better signal.

Bluetooth Operation

  1. Turn the Function Switch to 'Bluetooth' mode [Bluetooth Symbol]. An activation sound will confirm the mode change.
  2. On your audio device (e.g., smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices. Select "CROSLEY CR6034" from the list to pair.
  3. Upon successful pairing, the unit will play a short confirmation sound.
  4. You can now play and stream music wirelessly from your paired device to the unit's speakers.

Note: Bluetooth version - 4.2

Turntable Maintenance

  1. Avoid touching the stylus tip with your fingers. Be careful not to bump the stylus against the turntable mat or the edge of a record.
  2. Clean the stylus regularly using a soft brush, moving it only from back to front.
  3. To remove dust or grease from records, use a dedicated record cleaning brush and cleaning solution.
  4. Clean the turntable lid and turntable cabinet with a slightly damp microfiber cloth.

Important: Do not use cleansers containing alcohol, benzene, or other harsh chemicals, as these may damage the turntable's paint and finish.

Troubleshooting

No Power

  • Verify that the power adapter is correctly connected to both the unit and the power outlet.
  • Ensure there is power available at the electrical outlet being used.
  • Note on Power Saving: Some models comply with the ERP energy saving standard. If no audio input is detected for 20 minutes, the unit will automatically enter a low-power state. To resume playback, turn the unit off and then back on again.

Power is On, But the Platter Does Not Turn

  • Confirm that the correct turntable mode (e.g., PHONO) has been selected using the Function Switch.
  • Check if the turntable's drive belt has slipped off or is broken.

Turntable is Spinning, But There is No Sound, or Sound is Not Loud Enough

  • Ensure the stylus protector has been removed from the stylus assembly.
  • Check if the tonearm is lifted by the Cue Lever.
  • Verify that headphones are not plugged into the Headphone Jack, as this will mute the speakers.
