4.0 First Steps
- Insert two AAA batteries into the Sound Hub remote control.
- Connect the power adapter to the Sound Hub and a wall outlet, using the appropriate plug for your country.
- Turn on the Sound Hub by pressing the On/Off button on the front.
Note: The Sound Hub remote will pair with the system automatically within 30 seconds of the first power-on.
Illustrations show inserting batteries into the remote, connecting the power adapter to the Sound Hub and wall socket, and pressing the power button.
5.0 Speaker Pairing
Ensure the Sound Hub is connected to power and turned on. Connect your speakers to power and turn them on (refer to the speaker's manual for details). To link the Sound Hub with compatible speakers, initiate pairing by pressing the LINK & CONNECT button on the rear of the Sound Hub. When the Sound Hub is ready for speaker pairing, the position display on the top will light up, and the volume display will appear in the circle.
Diagram shows the rear of the Sound Hub with the LINK & CONNECT button highlighted, and a close-up of the rotary dial indicating pairing status.
5.1 Pairing on the Speaker
Proceed to the first speaker and press the LINK & CONNECT button on its rear. A short sound will play once the speaker is paired with the Sound Hub. The position display on the rear of the speaker, next to the LINK & CONNECT button, will start blinking, indicating that you can now set the speaker's position. Press the LINK & CONNECT button again to select the desired position, which changes with each press. Once the rear display shows the correct position, proceed to the next speaker. Repeat step 5.1 for all speakers that need to be paired with the Sound Hub.
Diagrams show the rear of a speaker with the LINK & CONNECT button and the rear of the Sound Hub showing connection ports.
5.2 Finishing Pairing
After pairing all speakers and selecting their desired positions, return to the Sound Hub and press the LINK & CONNECT button on the rear. All paired speakers will play a short sound. If the position indicator light on the Sound Hub display is blinking, it means the speaker is not properly connected or configured. The position display on the Sound Hub will turn off, and the volume display will show the current volume again. The speakers are now ready to operate with the Sound Hub.
Note: To add more speakers to the Sound Hub, repeat steps 5.0 to 5.2.

6.0 Connections
The Sound Hub offers several wired connection options on its rear panel (refer to Section 3.0). Select an input by pressing the Source Select button on the Sound Hub or its remote until the desired input appears on the display.
Input Types:
- Bluetooth [Bluetooth input]: Supports AAC, AptX, and AptX HD. Initiate new pairing by selecting this input.
- RCA In [RCA input]: Analog stereo input.
- AUX In [AUX input]: Analog stereo mini-jack input.
- Coaxial In [coaxial input]: Digital stereo input.
- Optical In [optical input]: Digital stereo input (TOSLINK). Features auto-detection, ideal for music sources like CD players and streamers.
- Optical In (TV) [optical input (TV)]: Digital stereo input (TOSLINK) optimized for TV audio with auto-detection.
Output & Other Ports:
- SUB OUT: Subwoofer output. Connect to the LFE input of a subwoofer.
- Power Input: For the 15V DC power adapter.
- PRE OUT: Line-level output with volume control, usable for wired speakers or as a pre-amplifier.
- USB POWER/SERVICE: Dual-function port. Can supply 5V for phones or Chromecast Audio, and also serves as a USB port for firmware updates. Not for music playback.
- Plug-in Module 1 & 2: Expansion ports for adding functionality, such as the BluOS NPM-1 module (see Section 7.0).
Diagram shows the rear panel with source selection icons and labels for all input/output ports.
7.0 Plug-in Modules
Expand the functionality of the Sound Hub by adding one or two optional plug-in modules. This modular approach allows for a fully integrated audio experience.
To add a plug-in module:
- Ensure the Sound Hub is disconnected from mains power.
- Remove the two screws securing the module cover.
- Slide off the cover and carefully insert the plug-in module until it is flush with the rear of the Sound Hub.
- Re-secure the module by screwing back the two screws.
- Do not overtighten the screws.
Diagram shows the rear panel with PLUG-IN MODULE slots and instructions on how to install a module.
8.0 Volume Adjustment
The volume of paired speakers can be controlled in several ways:
- By rotating the volume control dial on the front of the Sound Hub.
- By pressing the volume up or down buttons on the Sound Hub remote control.
- By using the touch-sensitive area on the top of compatible speakers.
- Via Bluetooth from a compatible playback device.
- Through the dedicated app for an installed plug-in module.
System volume is adjusted centrally, regardless of which speaker was used for adjustment.
Illustrations show the Sound Hub's rotary dial, the remote control buttons, and the touch area on a speaker for volume control.
9.0 Mute
To mute the sound on paired speakers:
- Press the mute button on the front of the Sound Hub.
- Press the Mute button on the remote control.
- Double-tap the touch-sensitive area on the top of compatible speakers.
- Via Bluetooth from a compatible device.
- Via the app for an installed plug-in module.
Depending on the selected input, the Mute button will either mute the speakers (for RCA, AUX, Coaxial, and Optical TV inputs) or mute the speakers and pause playback (for Bluetooth and compatible plug-in module inputs). To unmute and resume playback, press any mute function again.
Illustrations show the Sound Hub's rotary dial, the remote control buttons, and the touch area on a speaker for mute control.
10.0 Auto-Detect / Auto-Wake
All inputs on the Sound Hub feature auto-detection and will automatically activate the Sound Hub and paired speakers upon detecting a signal. Ensure the system is on and the correct input is active, or simply activate the correct input if the system is already on.
- Bluetooth, RCA, Coaxial, and Optical inputs will activate upon detecting an audio signal.
- The Optical In (TV) input activates when the carrier light on the optical cable is on.
Auto-detection does not allow one input with an active signal to be replaced by another. Auto-detection activates an input with an audio signal if the current input no longer receives an audio signal. For example, if a CD player is playing music and the TV input is manually selected, the CD player input might be automatically selected if the TV is turned off. To avoid this, always stop playback before manually selecting another input.
The Sound Hub and speakers will automatically turn off after 30 minutes of no audio signal. Note: The AUX In (mini-jack) input does not support auto-detection.
To disable auto-detection and only use manual source selection:
- Turn on the Sound Hub.
- Press and hold the Source Select button on the front of the Sound Hub.
- Rotate the volume control to change the setting.
- Release the Source Select button to save the new setting.
Illustration shows the Sound Hub's rotary dial with an indication to press and hold the Source Select button.
11.0 Display and LED Dimming
The brightness of the Sound Hub's volume display and the LED displays on paired speakers can be adjusted:
- Turn on the Sound Hub.
- Press and hold the On/Off button.
- Adjust the brightness level by rotating the volume control dial.
- Release the On/Off button to save the new setting.
At the lowest brightness level, the volume LED display will turn off. The volume LED display on a speaker will only illuminate when the volume changes.
