- Attach one end (a) of the safety lanyard to the hole on the rear panel of the control unit, and the other end with the hook (b) to your belt or wrist strap.
To wear the PulseDive on your belt and avoid losing it, it is recommended to use the belt holster and safety lanyard as shown in the illustration below.
- Attach one end (a) of the safety lanyard to the hole on the rear panel of the control unit, and the other end with the hook (b) to the loop of the belt holster.
Battery Information
The PulseDive features an internal 1650mAh Lithium-Polymer battery. Charge the PulseDive before first use. Charging takes approximately 2 hours.
Charging
You can charge the device using a USB charger, power bank, computer, or car charger with the included USB cable.
*Charging time may be longer with USB chargers with less than 1A output or older PC models.
During charging, the red LED will be solid. When the battery is fully charged, the green and red LEDs will light up together. If there are charging issues, the green LED will flash.
Battery Indicators
- On Startup:
- Red and green LEDs flash once: Battery is fully charged.
- Green LED flashes once: Battery is half charged.
- Red LED flashes once: Battery is discharged.
When the batteries are fully discharged, the red and green LEDs will flash every 5 seconds. The device will continue to operate for a short period before emitting a single beep and shutting down.
Battery Warnings
- IMPORTANT! The device does not operate while charging.
- Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures (e.g., storage in a car trunk or glove compartment).
- Do not charge the battery at temperatures above 35°C (95°F) or below 0°C (32°F).
- Battery replacement for the PulseDive can only be performed by Nokta or its authorized service centers.
Operation of the Device
When operating the PulseDive, the green LED flashes once when any button is pressed. It remains solid when buttons are pressed and held.
Turning On/Off
Press the On/Off button once to turn on the device. A beep will sound, and LEDs will illuminate according to the battery level. To turn off the device, press and hold the On/Off button. You will hear a double beep, regardless of the operating mode, and both LEDs will light up simultaneously. The device automatically retunes when turned on. Keep the device away from metal objects when turning it on. For wet beach sand or highly mineralized ground, it is recommended to turn on the device with the search coil on the ground or to retune it above ground. This may slightly reduce depth but ensures more stable operation.
You can also retune the device instantly if it gives false signals. To retune, press the On/Off button once. Do not retune the device over metal objects, as this will reduce its depth. When the device is turned off and on again, it starts with the last saved settings.
Search Modes
The device has 3 search modes: Audio, Vibration, and Audio + Vibration. Press the F button to change the mode.
Red LED
In addition to the above modes, the PulseDive has a red LED that signals metal detection. When the red LED is active, it flashes once upon detecting metal, regardless of the mode. The closer you are to the target, the faster and more frequent the flashes. To turn the red LED on/off, press and hold the Adjustment button (A).
Sensitivity
There are 5 sensitivity levels. To adjust sensitivity, press the Adjustment button (A) while holding the Functional button (F). Each press of button A increases sensitivity by one level. Each level is indicated by a specific number of audio tones and/or vibrations, depending on the selected mode. For example, level 4 is indicated by 4 audio tones and/or vibrations. Maximum sensitivity is level 5.
5 – The device emits a long beep and/or vibration. If the red LED is active, it will be solid.
In highly mineralized ground, the device may give false signals. In such cases, reduce sensitivity.
LED Flashlight
To turn on the flashlight, press the Adjustment button (A) once while the device is on. Press it again to turn it off.
Dive Mode
If you are diving with the PulseDive, you must switch the device to dive mode to prevent buttons from being pressed by water pressure. In dive mode, the buttons are locked and do not function. Therefore, ensure the device is set to the desired parameters before entering dive mode. Recommended settings are vibration and the red LED enabled. Hold the device upside down (LEDs facing down) as shown in the illustration, and simultaneously press buttons A and F. The green LED will light up, a beep will sound, and/or the device will vibrate, depending on the selected mode. If the red LED is on, it will also flash once.
In dive mode, the device will not detect targets unless you turn it upside down. The device will detect targets when you turn it upright and hold it correctly. To exit dive mode, repeat the above steps. When exiting dive mode, only a beep and/or vibration will occur, depending on the selected mode; the green LED will not light up. If the red LED is on, it will also flash once.
IMPORTANT! The PulseDive does not enter dive mode when metal is detected!
NOTE: Wireless headphones will not work when the device is in dive mode. They will connect automatically once the device exits dive mode.
Operation of the Device (Continued)
IMPORTANT! The PulseDive comes with 2 battery compartment covers. Use the underwater search cover for diving and the land cover for surface use to achieve a louder sound. The land use cover is waterproof and washable, but not suitable for diving. To prevent damage to the filter on the land cover, do not insert sharp objects into the holes for cleaning or any other purpose.
Lost Device Alarm
The PulseDive has a lost device alarm function to help locate it if lost. If no button is pressed and the device does not detect any targets for 5 minutes, the alarm function will activate. The device will start emitting intermittent beeps, and the LED flashlight will flash. When the lost signal alarm is active, if the device is connected to wireless headphones, the sound will be emitted through the device, not the headphones.
Frequency Shift
This feature is used to prevent the device from interfering with nearby equipment. To change the frequency, turn on the device while holding down the F button. Each press of the On/Off button will cause a beep and/or vibration, shifting the frequency by one step. There are 40 frequency steps. The default central frequency is indicated by a double beep/vibration.
Connecting Wireless Headphones
The PulseDive has a built-in wireless connection module for using wireless headphones. To activate the wireless connection, turn on the device while holding down the A button. The green LED will flash at intervals, indicating that the wireless module is enabled. To disable the wireless connection, turn off the device while holding down the A button. Connection instructions can be found in the manual for the Nokta Makro 2.4 GHz wireless headphones, sold separately.
IMPORTANT! If the wireless connection is enabled but the device is not connected to wireless headphones, the device will search for channels upon startup, and the green LED will stay lit for almost 5 seconds. During this period, the device will NOT detect metal!
