General Information and Advice
Important Advice
Before starting the installation, check the tow bar for any transport damage and ensure it is the correct reference for your vehicle.
Read the mounting instructions carefully and follow all steps precisely.
Present the tow bar under the vehicle before drilling to check alignment.
When drilling holes, ensure no existing wiring is damaged. Remove any soundproofing or bitumen layers. Treat drilled holes and chassis parts with an anti-corrosive product.
If the vehicle is equipped with non-standard bumpers (special series, sport versions, tuning parts), consult GDW technical service to confirm compatibility.
The tow bar delivered may be pre-assembled for storage; disassemble parts as needed for installation.
Guarantee
To determine your vehicle's correct towing weight, refer to the Certificate of Conformity (COC) or contact your dealer. Do not exceed the tow bar's specifications.
The tow bar must be checked after the first 1,000 km of use and at least once a year:
- Check all bolts and retighten if necessary.
- Repair any paint damage.
- Replace any components damaged by external forces or accidents.
- Grease the internal parts of detachable systems.
Usage
If the towing ball obstructs the license plate or the rear fog light, it must be removed when the trailer is not attached.
Technical Specifications
Verify your vehicle's maximum trailer weight by consulting the Certificate of Conformity (COC) or contacting your dealer.
The tow bar's technical specifications must not be exceeded.
Towing Capacity Calculation:
The document provides formulas for D-value and S-value:
- D-value calculation: D = (max kg * max kg) / (max kg + max kg) * 0.00981 ≤ 10.80 kN
- S-value (maximum vertical load on the ball): S = 100 kg
- Maximum towing weight: 2200 kg
Tool Requirements:
Various tools are indicated, including TX25, torque wrenches (e.g., 10, 13, 17, 19), and an anti-rust spray.

Installation Steps
- Step 1: Remove the rear light clusters from the vehicle. (Diagrams show arrows indicating removal of light clusters).
- Step 2: Access the mounting points behind the rear bumper. (Diagrams show the rear of the vehicle with the trunk open, indicating access areas).
- Step 3: Remove the rear bumper. (Diagrams show the underside of the rear bumper with arrows pointing to fixings, and a TX25 tool indicated).
- Step 4: Access the chassis mounting points by removing wheel arch liners. (Diagrams show wheel arch liners being removed, with arrows pointing to fixings and a TX25 tool indicated).
- Step 5: Continue accessing mounting points by removing further components, such as wheel arch liners. (Diagrams show wheel arch liners being removed, with arrows pointing to fixings and a TX25 tool indicated).
- Step 6: Prepare for the tow bar installation, potentially involving further bumper removal or preparation. (Diagram shows the rear bumper being lowered or removed).

Clearance Specifications
Ensure adequate clearance around the tow ball as specified by UN/ECE regulation 55-01, Appendix VII, diagrams 25 (a, b).
The diagrams illustrate required minimum and maximum distances for various points around the tow ball, ensuring safe operation and compliance. Key dimensions include:
- Minimum clearance of 140mm, 100mm, 65mm, 55mm, 32mm, 30mm.
- Maximum clearance of 250mm, 100mm, 30mm.
- Angles such as 65°, 45°, 30°, 15°.
- Radii such as R14.5 max, R40 max.
These clearances are critical for the vehicle's total permissible weight.
