Troubleshooting No Network Connection on MacBook via USB-C Hub
Prerequisites
Ensure your network is available, the network cable is functional, and it is properly plugged in.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Click the Wi-Fi icon ? in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select 'Network Preferences'.
- Click the '+' button [add-icon] in the lower left corner of the Network Preferences window.
- Click the button next to 'Interface' to reveal a dropdown menu.
- Select 'AX88179A' from the list.
- Enter a 'Service Name' (e.g., 'AX88179A 45') and click 'Create'.
- In the 'Configure IPv4' box, ensure it is set to 'Using DHCP'. Click 'Apply' in the bottom right corner. If it's not set to 'Using DHCP', click the dropdown near the box and select 'Using DHCP'.
- A green icon [green-circle-icon] next to the network interface indicates a successful connection.
Additional Troubleshooting
If other devices connected to the same router have network access but this device does not, try using a different port on the hub or your MacBook.
