Best Aroma - Best Taste
One Capsule Per Cup
Each capsule is intended for one cup of coffee, caffè crema, or espresso.
Full Aroma
Insert the capsule into the coffee machine only when you need it. The capsule is pierced when inserted. If you do not use it immediately, the aroma will dissipate.
Preheating the Cup
Fill the cup with hot water. Briefly empty the water from the cup before use. This will ensure the best taste for your coffee.
Drink Strength
You can adjust the drink strength to your personal taste by adjusting the amount of water used for brewing the coffee. This is very easy, and the entire process is described in the chapter "Adjusting Drink Strength (Drink Volume)".
Placing Small/Large Cups or Glasses Under the Spout
- When using small cups, leave the drip grid inserted.
- When using large cups or ToGo mugs, turn the drip grid... or remove it.
Turning the Coffee Machine On/Off
Turning On the Coffee Machine
Turn on the coffee machine with a short press of any button. A short beep will sound.
All buttons flash. The coffee machine is heating up for preparation.
Once the coffee machine has heated up, a beep will sound. All buttons will now light up continuously.
Turning Off the Coffee Machine
To turn off the coffee machine, briefly press the espresso and caffè crema buttons simultaneously.
Standby Mode - Rest Mode
If no button has been pressed for approximately 9 minutes, the coffee machine will automatically switch to standby mode. All buttons will go out. The coffee machine now consumes only a minimal amount of electrical energy. This is both a safety feature and an energy-saving measure. However, you should always switch off the coffee machine manually after use.
To completely disconnect the coffee machine from the electrical supply, the mains plug must be pulled out of the socket.
Filling the Water Tank
- Pull the water tank straight up out of the coffee machine.
- Fill the water tank up to the MAX mark with fresh, cold tap water or other drinking water.
- Reinsert the water tank into the coffee machine. Push it down fully until it stops.
Preparing a Drink
- Close the lever fully and insert a Cafissimo capsule with the lid facing the front of the coffee machine, as shown in the illustration. The capsule must be intact: Do not pierce it, remove its lid, or insert deformed capsules into the coffee machine!
- Lower the lever completely. The inserted capsule will be pierced at the bottom and in the lid.
- Place an empty cup under the beverage spout.
- Press the button corresponding to the inserted capsule:
- Espresso
- Caffè crema
- Coffee
The coffee brewing process starts and stops automatically. A beep will sound at the end of the brewing process.
- Before removing the cup from the drip tray, close the lever upwards and back until it stops.
Pressure will be released from the coffee machine. Residual liquid may be released. The used capsule will fall into the capsule collection container.
If you wish to stop the brewing process prematurely, press the same beverage selection button again.
When preparing espresso and caffè crema, a small amount of coffee is pre-brewed to optimally develop the coffee's aroma. You will recognize this process by a brief pause of the coffee machine at the start of the brewing process. Filter coffee is prepared without pre-brewing.
Factory settings for the coffee machine are:
- Espresso approx. 40 ml / Caffè crema approx. 125 ml / Coffee approx. 125 ml
Tip: You can adjust the drink strength by adjusting the amount of water used for brewing. How to do this is described in the chapter "Adjusting Drink Strength (Drink Volume)".
After Use
Regularly empty the front drawer, capsule collection container, and drip tray:
- Remove the drip tray.
- Pull the front drawer out as shown in the illustration.
- Remove the capsule collection container. The capsule collection container needs to be emptied daily or whenever it is full. It holds approximately 6 capsules.
- Empty the capsule collection container.
- Empty the front drawer.
- Empty the drip tray if necessary.
- Then reinsert all parts back into the coffee machine in reverse order.
Adjusting Drink Strength (Drink Volume)
You can adjust the drink strength to your personal taste by adjusting the drink volume. You can adjust the drink strength for a single brewing process or save it to memory.
Adjusting Drink Strength for the Current Brewing Process (Without Saving to Memory)
- If the beverage is too weak for your taste, stop the water flow prematurely by pressing the flashing beverage selection button.
- If the beverage is too strong for your taste, start the brewing process again without inserting a new capsule. Once sufficient water has flowed through, press the button again.
Factory settings are:
- Espresso approx. 40 ml / Caffè crema approx. 125 ml / Coffee approx. 125 ml
Permanent Adjustment of Drink Strength (Saving to Memory)
You can permanently change the factory-set coffee volumes. For each beverage selection button, you can choose an individual setting: one for espresso, one for caffè crema, and one for coffee.
- Fill the water tank, insert a capsule, and place a cup under the coffee spout.
- Press the corresponding button (e.g., caffè crema) and hold it down. After approximately 2 seconds, a beep will sound. Release the button when the desired amount of coffee has flowed into the cup. Two beeps will sound.
The setting is saved to memory. If this setting does not meet your taste, you can change it by simply repeating the described procedure.
Resetting to Factory Settings
To reset to the original drink volumes, proceed as follows:
- Turn off the coffee machine: To do this, briefly press the espresso and caffè crema buttons simultaneously.
- Then simultaneously press and hold the caffè crema and coffee buttons.
- Briefly press the espresso button. All buttons flash to confirm.
- Now release all buttons.
The factory settings for drink volumes are now restored.

Cleaning the Exterior
Wipe the coffee machine's exterior with a soft, damp cloth.
If necessary, also wipe the compartment for the capsule collection container and the groove for the water tank with a soft, damp cloth.
Cleaning the Water Tank
Wash the water tank with water and dish soap. Then rinse thoroughly under running water and dry. The water tank is not dishwasher-safe.
Cleaning the Capsule Collection Container and Drip Tray/Drip Grid
- Remove the drip tray.
- Remove the drip grid from the drip tray and empty the drip tray.
- Pull the front drawer out of the coffee machine and remove the capsule collection container.
- Empty the capsule collection container.
- Wash all individual parts with water and dish soap. Then dry all parts thoroughly. The drip tray and grid, front drawer, and capsule collection container are also dishwasher-safe.
- Then reinsert all parts back into the coffee machine.
Descaling
If the indicator light starts to glow yellow, the coffee machine needs to be descaled. Descale the coffee machine within the next few days. Do not delay descaling, as otherwise, so many limescale deposits may form in the coffee machine that the descaling agent may no longer be effective.
The descaling process takes approximately 30 minutes.
NOTE - Property Damage
Improper or missing descaling can damage the coffee machine.
- Descale the coffee machine as soon as it signals the need for descaling (after approx. 50 liters). Descaling extends the coffee machine's lifespan and saves energy.
- Do not use any descaling agents based on formic acid.
- Use commonly available liquid descaling agents for coffee machines and espresso machines. Other agents may damage materials inside the coffee machine and/or may not be effective.
Descaling Procedure
- Turn off the coffee machine if necessary: To do this, briefly press the espresso and caffè crema buttons simultaneously.
- Pull the water tank out of the appliance.
- Fill the empty water tank with a commonly available descaling agent for coffee machines and espresso machines.
- Add cold water up to the MAX mark.
- Reinsert the water tank into the coffee machine. Push it down until it stops.
- Lower the lever and remove the drip tray.
- Place an empty container with a volume of at least 800 ml under the beverage spout. The container placed under the coffee spout must be emptied several times during the descaling process.
- Press the espresso and coffee buttons simultaneously and hold them down for approximately 5 seconds until...
- ...the caffè crema button lights up, and the indicator light flashes alternately red/yellow. To start descaling, press the caffè crema button.
The descaling process begins. The caffè crema button goes out, and the indicator light flashes alternately red/yellow.
This process takes approximately 25 minutes.
The coffee machine pumps the descaling solution through the tubing system in the coffee machine several times, every 2.5 minutes. Approximately 60 ml of solution flows into the container under the coffee spout each time.
Rinsing Phase
- Do not leave the coffee machine unattended during the descaling process. Empty the water from the container placed under the beverage spout to prevent overflow.
- After the entire descaling solution has been pumped through the coffee machine, the coffee machine will stop for approximately 2.5 minutes. The indicator light continues to flash alternately red/yellow.
- After 2.5 minutes, the caffè crema button lights up again, and a beep sounds.
- Remove the water tank, front drawer, and capsule collection container from the coffee machine.
- Wash all individual parts with water and dish soap. Then dry all parts thoroughly.
- Reinsert all parts, except for the water tank, back into the coffee machine.
- Fill the water tank up to the MAX mark with cold tap water.
- Reinsert the water tank into the coffee machine. Push it down until it stops.
- Place a container with a volume of at least 600 ml under the beverage spout.
- To start the rinsing process, press the caffè crema button.
The rinsing phase now begins. The caffè crema button goes out, and the indicator light flashes yellow. This process takes approximately 2 minutes. Approximately 600 ml of water is rinsed through. Monitor the container placed under the beverage spouts and empty it before it overflows.
After the rinsing phase is completed, a beep will sound, and the coffee machine will automatically switch to standby mode. The indicator light goes out. The descaling process is finished.
Troubleshooting
Lever Cannot Be Pressed Downwards
- Check if the capsule collection container is full. If so, empty it.
- If a capsule is jammed in the capsule insertion opening, lift the lever completely backwards and push the capsule downwards from the top. Do not reinsert a deformed capsule into the coffee machine!
Rinsing Phase of Descaling Process Does Not End; Water Tank is Empty; Indicator Light Flashes Red and Beeps
- Fill the water tank with cold tap water up to the MAX mark and reinsert the water tank into the coffee machine. Continue with step 12 in the "Descaling" chapter, section "Rinsing Phase".
Indicator Light Flashes Red and Beeps Several Times
- Did you insert a capsule into the coffee machine during the initial setup?
- Lift the lever so that the used capsule falls into the collection container and pressure can escape the machine. The initial setup needs to be repeated. Follow the instructions in the chapter "Initial Setup - Before First Use".
Coffee Grounds in the Cup
A small amount of coffee grounds will always remain in the cup. This is due to the system used and is not a fault.
Beverage Not Hot Enough
- Especially when preparing espresso, the beverage volume is so small relative to the cup size that the coffee cools down quickly. Preheat the cup: Fill the cup with hot water. Briefly empty the water from the cup before use.
Water Dripping from the Spout
During the coffee machine's heating phase, the water in the tubing system expands, causing a small amount of water to drip from the spout.
Indicator Light Glows Yellow
The coffee machine needs to be descaled. Descale the coffee machine in the next few days. Do not delay descaling, as otherwise, so many limescale deposits may form in the coffee machine that the descaling agent may no longer be effective. The warranty does not cover damage to the coffee machine caused by you. Proceed as described in the "Descaling" chapter.
